I knew this was not going to be good.

Lucian was still walking beside me when Deucalion stopped directly in our path.

His face was calm, but his eyes were not. They were burning red.

“Malia.” He called my name. The way he said it made me stop.

Lucian looked between us. “Deucalion.”

Deucalion ignored him. “Come with me.”

I frowned. “Why?”

His eyes moved to Lucian. “I said, come with me.”

I folded my arms.

“As you can see, I'm busy right now with Lucian.”

  • THE SPARE LUNA   Chapter 57 – EIGHT MONTHS

At the Blackridge family, two months had passed since the six-month celebration.Aria was now eight months pregnant.Every morning, the first thing she noticed was the weight of her stomach. It had become difficult to move quickly, but she did not complain. She had reached a point no woman before her had managed to reach. She believes it was the bloodline that she was carrying that's making it difficult for her to carry. Eight months. The healers checked her twice a day. Each time, they found the same thing. The baby was strong.“She is doing better than we expected,” one healer said after another examination. The Luna smiled. “You sound surprised.”“I am. We have never seen a pregnancy this stable at this stage.”Aria heard them from the bed and smiled proudly. She had heard those words many times over the past weeks, and she never got tired of them.Strong.Stable.Eight months. She was proving everyone wrong. Deucalion entered the room later that morning. His eyes immediately went

  • THE SPARE LUNA   Chapter 56 – TWO MONTHS LATER

Two months had passed since Derek was born.Life had changed in ways I never expected. The shelter that once felt small and lonely had become our home. During the first week after Lydia and Mara arrived, the three of us worked together to make it bigger. Lydia used her strength to move heavy branches, while Mara gathered wood and leaves. I handled whatever my body allowed.By the end of the week, we had enough space for all three of us and Derek. It was not beautiful, but it was ours. Our days were simple.Mara helped me bathe Derek and dress him. She was always careful with him, especially at night when the cold became stronger. She could spend several minutes wrapping him properly before placing him beside me.I breastfed him whenever he was hungry.Lydia took care of the work outside. She hunted, gathered food, and searched for anything useful around the forest. She was a strong wolf, and she moved through the woods with confidence.“You should stay inside,” she told me one morning

The next morning I woke up slowly.I did not know where I was. Then I felt the rough blanket beneath me and heard a quiet voice nearby.“Malia?”I opened my eyes. Lydia was sitting beside the bed, watching me.“How long was I asleep?” My voice came out weak. She smiled. “The entire night.”I pushed myself up, embarrassed. “That long?”“You needed it.”I looked around. Mara was sitting near the fire, holding my baby against her chest. She was keeping him wrapped in a warm cloth. My heart softened. “He’s awake.”Mara looked over and smiled. “He has been awake for a while.”I stared at my son. “Did he cry?”“Only when he was hungry.”“I should have been the one taking care of him.”Lydia shook her head. “You just gave birth, Malia. You nearly collapsed yesterday. Stop feeling guilty for resting.”“I was supposed to be strong.”“You were strong,” she said. “Strong enough to carry a child alone and bring him into this world. Your body simply needed that rest.”I lowered my eyes before look

At the shelter. The footsteps came closer.I tightened my grip on the knife and pulled my baby against my chest. My body was still weak from the birth. Every muscle ached, every movement sent a dull warning through me, but fear gave me enough strength to stand.Another branch snapped outside. Someone was coming. I held my breath. The door opened.I raised the knife. “Stay back!”A woman froze in the doorway. For one terrible second I thought Blackridge had found me. Then I saw her face.“Lydia?”Her eyes widened. “Malia?”The knife slipped from my hand and clattered to the floor.Lydia rushed inside and wrapped her arms around me. I nearly collapsed. She caught me and held on tightly.“Oh, Malia.” Her voice broke. “I thought I would never find you.”I closed my eyes. For months I had imagined seeing a familiar face again, hearing Lydia’s voice. I had never truly believed it would happen. I held her just as tightly.“You found me.”“I searched everywhere.” She pulled back and looked at

  • THE SPARE LUNA   Chapter 53 – THE CELEBRATION

The great hall suddenly erupted the moment Aria stepped inside.Music filled the room, and conversations stopped as every guest turned toward her. Eyes followed her as she walked beside Deucalion.Aria lifted her chin. This was what she had always dreamed of. To be at the center of attention. Deucalion reached for her hand and guided her toward the seat beside his.“Careful,” he whispered. “Take your time.”“I am fine,” she replied with a smile.“I know. I still want to be careful.”Aria’s heart warmed. She sat beside him, resting one hand over her stomach. The room returned to life.A male representative from one of the neighboring packs approached them. “Alpha Deucalion, congratulations.”Deucalion nodded. “Thank you for coming.”The man looked at Aria. “And congratulations to you, Luna. Six months is an incredible achievement.”Aria smiled proudly. “Thank you.”Another guest came forward. “We heard the child is strong.”“The healers say the baby is doing very well,” Deucalion answe

  • THE SPARE LUNA   Chapter 52 – SIX MONTHS

The next few weeks passed quietly inside Blackridge. Aria’s pregnancy continued without another serious problem. The healers examined her every morning and evening. They watched her eating, checked her pulse, listened to the baby, and made sure she took every medicine given to her. The Luna did not allow anyone to take chances. “Do not let her overwork herself,” she told the servants one morning. “She barely leaves her room,” one maid replied. “Then make sure she walks for a little while. Too much rest is not good either.” “Yes, Luna.” Aria heard them from her bed and smiled. For the first time, she was being treated like someone important. She now had four maids attending to her. Her meals were prepared separately, and the healers brought better medicine. Even the way people spoke to her had changed. Before, some servants had looked at her as the woman who had taken Malia’s place. Now they looked at her as the mother of the Blackridge heir. Aria loved it. Every day, her c
