SMELL THE COFFIN

No sooner had Eva left the King's chambers, sobbing and sniffling, than she accosted Madam Lorretta a few blocks away from the general kitchen. Madam Lorretta, quite unsure she was the one they were walking in opposite directions, narrowed her eyes closely on her.

Now, she was sure it was Eva.

'But why is she walking that way and.. and sobbing as well?' . She thought.

She sure had never seen her in such a sorry state. Something must be up and she would pause to inquire.

"Eva.. Is that you?". Lorretta asked softly. The night was getting darker and everyone was almost off the streets and road.

Unable to say a word in response, Eva covered her face with her hands still sobbing.

Taken aback by a feeling of concern, Madam Lorretta pulled her close to her embrace, as she buried her face on her shoulder in tears.

"What could be the matter Eva?.. Why are you crying?". Lorretta said, patting her back in consolation.
