CHAPTER FOURTEEN

When I was finally able to use the restroom, the idea that went through my head was, "I never realized a body could store that much liquid and not burst."

As I washed my hands, I was astounded when the hot water started coming out of the faucet instantly.

When I got home, it would take the water anywhere from five to ten minutes to get to a temperature that was even close to lukewarm, but here, the water was so hot that I almost scalded myself.

And the soap, oh the soap, had a lavender scent with a hint of lime, which was very different from the lye soap we had back at the house. The soap I discovered beside the sink did not cause my hands to become brittle and dry like other soaps; rather, it left my hands feeling soft and smooth.

Because I wasn't sure whether I should use the clean towels, I decided to dry my hands on the front of my shirt instead.

For the sake of safety.

When I opened the door to go back to my place at the table, I observed many human slaves running back and forth.
