16. TYRONE

Silence.

She didn’t argue with me. She didn’t demand that she was fine and in no need of a doctor. She didn’t tell me that she would take care of the cuts by herself.

Sin just continued eating like I wasn’t talking.

My frown deepened when her movements slowed. Glancing over her head, I took note of how much she had eaten. Not nearly enough, but I didn’t push her to eat more when she placed the fork down and pushed the tray back. My eyes locked onto glass of milk that had been left untouched.

“Drink some milk,” I ordered. “Warm milk before bed will help you sleep.”

Sin stared at the glass for a few minutes and then reached out with a shaky hand to pick it up. One sip, then two. With a whimper, Sin leaned forward to place the glass down, but in her haste she ended up knocking it over. She couldn’t get to her feet fast enough.

While she was struggling to stand the tray was knocked from the coffee table onto the floor. Gripping her hips, I lifted her to her feet but it was already too lat
