4. SIN

I had butterflies in my stomach.

It was something I had heard the other Omegas say when they were about to meet with an Alpha. I had never understood it until recently. It was supposed to be a good thing but it didn’t feel like it. This was a lot different than Draven telling me that I was going to live with them.

I had gotten to get to know him over the years but now I was going to meet an Alpha I had never met before.

“Are you sure we shouldn’t have waited for Draven to get back?” I asked Bella for the third time since we left.

She waved a hand at me. “I’ll call him once we get home.”

I nodded, but her words did nothing to ease some of the worries I felt. We left early because Bella said that it was best to drive before it got hot. Nobody had been awake when we left.

“He’ll worry,” I muttered.

“I’ll text him, okay? Will that make you feel better?” she asked me.

“Yes.”

We drove in silence for a few minutes. Being close to Bella felt nice. The only scent that clung to her skin was her own which was a bit disappointing. Her scent wasn’t bad, I liked it but a part of me kind of liked the other more. Well, one specific scent.

“We’re almost there,” she said, breaking me out of my thoughts.

I frowned. We hadn’t been on the road for long, or maybe I had been so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t realize how much time had passed.

“I’m going to stay in a cottage, right?”

“Yes. It has everything you need and it’s close to the house in case you need anything or there’s an emergency.” Her hold on the steering wheel tightened. “There’s something I have to tell you. I don’t really mention this to someone I’ve just met but since you’re going to live with us I think you should know.”

I swallowed. “Is it bad?”

“No, no!” she assured me. “Nothing bad.”

“Tell me,” I urged when she remained silent.

“I...I have two Alphas,” Bella said so softly that I almost didn’t hear her. “Michel and I are bonded. We’ve been bonded for a few years now.”

“And the other Alpha?” I asked.

“He’s part of our relationship. We’re all a family even though Tyrone hasn’t bonded me.” Bella glanced at me. “Tyrone isn’t happy about this arrangement but Michel’s okay with it.”

“If he’s not—”

“Don’t take it personally,” she interrupted. “Tyrone is protective of our little family. There was a time when we thought that an Omega would. . .be good for us. They need things that I can’t provide for them, but it didn’t work out.”

“What happened?” I leaned closer to her. “Did they do something to her?”

Bella shook her head and after another glance at me, she focused her full attention on the road. The truck slowed and a second later she pulled onto a bumpy road. We drove down it for a few minutes before she turned again.

My eyes widened when I spotted the house ahead of us. It was nothing like Draven’s house.

“Wow.”

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” I nodded. “Wait till you see the inside.”

Parking the truck next to another one that looked almost similar, Bella leaned back in the seat and turned her head to look at me. Her eyes darted over my face for a moment before they darted away.

“You seem like a good person and I really don’t want to be wrong about that part,” she said softly. “The last time we welcomed an Omega into our home she tried to destroy our relationship.”

“I won’t do that,” I told her. “I. . .appreciate your help. I don’t have much and I don’t know much living outside of the Omega center but I promise you that I’m not like the other Omega.”

She stared at me for a few seconds and then nodded. The smile was back on her face and it stayed that way when she got out of the truck and led me towards the house.

I glanced around at the open fields, and at another wooden building that was almost the same size as their house. There were miles and miles of untouched nature. It was quiet too, something that I already loved about it.

My eyes snapped to the house when I felt the eyes burning into me.

He stood at the bottom of the stairs, face blank and body tense. The closer we got, the better I could see him. He was tall but slim with light brown hair that was cut into a style I hadn’t seen on a man before. His looks weren’t the only thing I noticed.

There was no denying the fact that he was an Alpha. He stood tall and with confidence but he didn’t try to intimidate me with his height or flood me with his scent.

My eyes dropped to the ground as my stomach twisted with nerves. I had hoped that I wouldn’t have to meet any Alphas which was stupid.

“Hey,” Bella greeted him.

There was no reply from him. When the silence continued, I glanced up just in time to see them breaking apart. The Alpha held Bella close to his body as his attention turned to me.

“You must be Sin?” he asked.

I nodded, unable to utter a word with his green eyes holding mine captive.

“Welcome to our ranch. I’ve stocked the cabinets and the fridge of the cottage but if you need anything else don’t hesitate to ask,” he said.

My lips parted but no words escaped. Colour flooded my cheeks when his lips curled up into a smile. Bella cleared her throat, snapping my attention to her. Her lips parted but the words flew over my head when another sound reached my ears.

Fear hit me hard, making my legs go weak. I sucked in a breath and tried to fight my panic but it took full control of me when the animal came into view, running straight toward me.

Without a thought, I spun, intent on running away from it, but I bumped into something. My mind had been too focused on getting away from the danger to pay much attention to anything around me. I climbed the thing I had bumped into and held on for dear life.

But I wasn’t high enough.

The animal jumped up on his hind legs. His mouth opened, showing off sharp teeth that were inches away from my leg. Just as he was to bite me, I was jerked away.

I tensed when there was a low growl close to my ear. Jerking back, I blinked at the face a few inches from mine. Narrowed greyish-blue eyes watched me. We were so close that I could feel his warm breath on my skin.

“Tyrone.”

My body jerked in fright. I had completely forgotten that we weren’t alone. I tried to look away but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t pull my eyes from his.

The man seemed to have no trouble though, his eyes darted over my face for a few seconds before he looked away. His ink-black hair brushed my hand when he turned his head. The feel of the soft strands against my skin made me shiver.

Now that some of the fear and panic had faded, it was easier to think and I wish that I didn’t have to. The thing I had. . .climbed in my haste to get away from the dog was him. I was completely wrapped around him, there was no part of our bodies that wasn’t touching.

It was hard not to notice the fact that he was in good shape. Or the fact that he had an arm hooked under my ass. Not even to mention his scent. It was one of the scents I had smelled on Bella—the one that made me moan out loud.

I sucked in a breath and bit my lip. He was the one that smelled like dark chocolate with a hint of cinnamon. My thighs clenched around him.

I blinked, once again finding myself staring into his greyish-blue eyes.

There was an urge to rub my cheek against his. I almost gave in it but the promise I made to Bella flashed through my mind. My hold on the man loosened as my eyes dropped.

My feet only brush the ground when the dog made himself known with a bark. It had me wrapping my legs around his hips again and trying to climb higher up his body.

“She won’t bite you,” he rasped against my ear. “Daisy is just as afraid of you as you are of her.”

I shook my head. That was hard to believe. How could she have been scared of me if she was planning on attacking me? I whimpered when he moved. A moment later I found myself sitting on his thigh as he crouched.

“Look.”

I swallowed a few times before I found the courage to raise my head. My eyes darted to his again before I turned my head to look at the dog. She sat by Bella’s feet, watching us with dark brown eyes. Bella’s alpha had a tight hold on the collar the dog had around her neck.

“She just wanted to greet you.” Fingers gently closed around my wrist and pulled my arm away from his neck. “Open your hand.”

Shaking my head, I tried to jerk my arm away but he held on. He pried my fingers apart and held my hand open, palm up. From the corner of my eyes, I saw him nod. It must’ve been some sign because Bella’s alpha let the dog go.

If I could move, I would’ve ripped myself free and run as fast as I could, but fear held me immobile as the dog moved closer. A whimper fell from my lips when she was within reach. A cold wet nose brushed against my skin.

I squeezed my eyes closed, waiting for the pain, but there was none. Warm breath brushed over the palm of my hand seconds before something raspy and wet touched me.

It was all too much. A sound fell from my lips when the bile rose in my throat. I squirmed against the Alpha’s hold, but it didn’t loosen. Not that it mattered anyway because in the next second he was covered in puke.
