“Sarah, is there something about you that I should know about?”

The question tumbles off my lips before I can even process it. My pulse rings in my ears, and I hear nothing but the pounding of my heart and the distant murmur of voices in the next training yard. The memory of the roaring firelights that had threatened to swallow me moments ago still burns in the back of my mind.

Sarah meets my gaze. Calm. She says nothing at first, only watching me like she's waiting to confirm that I’m truly ready for what I'm about to hear.

“Sarah?”

“Well,” she starts slowly, “only a few people know. And now, I guess the entire training yard knows.”

I blink, turning sharply to Elian, who just shrugs and walks away, leaving us to finish our talk. Did he know? Was that why he kept insisting on calling Sarah?
