Chapter 21 - Defending Him
Subconsciously, I bit my lip in anticipation. I didn't know the reason for my action. Maybe it was because I remembered Derris earlier implying that this made him want to kiss me or maybe it was for another reason entirely. Whichever it was, I found myself biting my lip again.
At that point, it seemed like Derris' last bit of control snapped. He cupped my cheeks and leaned in to close the distance between us, taking me completely by surprise. His lips had just brushed mine when a shrill voice called out, "Allison, are you out there?!"
And just like that, it was all over. Derris pulled away faster than I could have ever imagined possible, leaving me completely shell shocked and with a yearning to have his lips on mine again.
However, I couldn't dwell on that for long. Nellie had already walked down the stairs and was now giving Derris a very dirty look. Was it just me or did Derris' lips look a lot more enticing than before?
