Elena couldn't take her eyes off the photograph.

Victoria stood beside Richard, her hand resting on his shoulder. Behind them was an old building with a broken sign and dark windows.

It was the same woman who had spent years protecting the Blackwood family secrets.

The same woman who had claimed to know nothing about Jonathan's disappearance.

And now she was standing beside Richard.

“That's not possible,” Adrian said quietly.

Samuel enlarged the photograph.

“Look at the background. I recognise that building.”

“Where?” Adrian asked.

“The old Vale warehouse.”

Evelyn's expression changed.

“No.”

Samuel turned towards her.

“You know the place?”

Evelyn nodded slowly.

“That's where Jonathan was last seen before he disappeared.”

Adrian immediately took out his phone.

“I'm calling Richard.”

Before he could dial, another message appeared.

DON'T CALL ME. THEY'RE LISTENING.

A second message followed.

TRUST NO ONE WHO CLAIMS TO HAVE SAVED JONATHAN.

Elena looked at Adrian.

“Who does that mean?”

Nobody answered.

Alexander, who had remained unusually quiet, suddenly moved towards the door.

Adrian blocked him.

“Where do you think you're going?”

Alexander's expression hardened.

“Move.”

“Not until you tell us what you know.”

Alexander looked at the photograph.

For the first time, he seemed genuinely frightened.

“You have no idea what Victoria has done.”

Elena stepped forward.

“Then tell us!”

Alexander looked at her.

“Your grandmother should have stayed hidden.”

Evelyn raised her chin.

“And you should have told the truth thirty years ago.”

---

Adrian decided they had to reach the warehouse before Alexander could interfere.

But Evelyn refused to let them leave without the silver box.

“Take the seal,” she told Elena. “Whatever happens, do not let it fall into Alexander's hands.”

Elena accepted it carefully.

“Why are you trusting me with something this important?”

Evelyn held her hand.

“Because Jonathan trusted you before you were old enough to understand why.”

Elena swallowed.

“Did he really know me?”

“He held you when you were a baby. He promised that no matter what happened, you would never grow up believing your family had abandoned you.”

Elena's eyes filled with tears.

“And he never came back.”

Evelyn looked away.

“I waited for him.”

Margaret approached her mother.

“We'll bring him home.”

Evelyn shook her head.

“Don't make promises you cannot keep.”

---

The journey to the old Vale warehouse was tense.

Adrian drove while Samuel sat beside him. Elena and Margaret were in the back.

Nobody spoke until Elena noticed Adrian checking the rear-view mirror repeatedly.

“Someone is following us,” she whispered.

Adrian glanced behind them.

A black vehicle was several cars away.

“Stay calm.”

Samuel turned around.

“I've seen that car before.”

“Whose is it?” Adrian asked.

“Alexander's security team.”

Adrian tightened his grip on the steering wheel.

“They must have left the residence after us.”

Elena looked at the silver box in her lap.

“Then Alexander knows we have the seal.”

“Possibly,” Adrian replied.

Margaret leaned forward.

“There's something you need to understand about Victoria.”

Elena turned.

“What?”

“Victoria was never as powerful as she appeared. Alexander allowed her to make certain decisions because he believed she would always remain loyal to him.”

Adrian frowned.

“You're saying she was working for him?”

Margaret hesitated.

“I'm saying she knew how to survive in his world.”

---

They reached the warehouse shortly before sunset.

The building stood behind a rusted metal gate. Its windows were covered, and weeds had grown along the entrance.

Samuel approached first.

“Richard?”

No answer.

Adrian pushed the gate open.

A sudden noise came from inside.

Elena stopped.

“Did you hear that?”

Samuel nodded.

They entered cautiously.

The warehouse was almost empty, except for several wooden crates and an old desk.

Then a voice came from the shadows.

“You shouldn't have come.”

Richard stepped into the light.

His clothes were dusty, and his expression was tense.

Adrian moved towards him.

“What happened? Why did you send that message?”

Richard looked at Elena.

“Did you bring the seal?”

She hesitated.

“Why do you need it?”

“Because it's the only way to open Jonathan's final record.”

Samuel stepped forward.

“Where is Jonathan?”

Richard looked towards the far end of the warehouse.

“He was here.”

“Was?” Adrian repeated.

Richard lowered his eyes.

“Someone took him.”

Elena felt her stomach drop.

“Who?”

Before Richard could answer, footsteps echoed behind them.

Victoria emerged from a side corridor.

She looked directly at Elena.

“I'm glad you came.”

Adrian's expression darkened.

“You sent us that photograph?”

Victoria nodded.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because I needed you to find Richard before Alexander did.”

Samuel frowned.

“But the message said one of us had led Jonathan to Alexander.”

Victoria looked at him.

“Because it's true.”

Silence filled the warehouse.

Elena stared at her.

“Who?”

Victoria's eyes moved slowly towards Richard.

“He did.”

Richard immediately shook his head.

“That's a lie.”

Victoria remained calm.

“Then explain why Jonathan was taken after you contacted Alexander's people.”

Richard stepped forward.

“I contacted nobody.”

Victoria removed a folded document from her handbag.

“Then perhaps you can explain this.”

She handed it to Adrian.

It was a copy of an old agreement.

At the bottom was Richard's signature.

And beside it was a handwritten instruction:

TRANSFER JONATHAN VALE TO ALEXANDER BLACKWOOD.

Adrian looked up.

“Richard, what is this?”

Richard stared at the paper.

His face had gone pale.

“I've never seen that document.”

Victoria gave a bitter laugh.

“You expect us to believe that?”

Richard turned towards Elena.

“Please. You have to believe me.”

Elena studied his face.

She remembered every contradiction surrounding his identity, every secret he had uncovered, and every warning he had given them.

But she also remembered that Alexander had manipulated documents before.

“Who gave you this?” she asked Victoria.

Victoria's expression changed.

“Alexander.”

“Then why should we trust it?”

For a moment, Victoria said nothing.

Then she reached into her handbag again.

This time, she removed a small photograph.

It showed Richard standing beside Jonathan many years earlier.

But there was something unusual about it.

Richard appeared to be holding a newborn baby.

Elena moved closer.

“Who is that child?”

Victoria looked at her.

“That's the child Jonathan ordered Richard to hide.”

Adrian's eyes narrowed.

“Lily?”

Victoria shook her head.

“No. Lily is your daughter. This child was born long before Elena ever met you.”

Samuel took the photograph.

He turned it over.

A name had been written on the back.

ADRIAN ALEXANDER BLACKWOOD.

Nobody moved.

Adrian stared at the photograph.

“That's impossible.”

Victoria's voice trembled.

“Jonathan knew your identity before you did. He knew who your biological father was, and he knew why Alexander raised you.”

Adrian stepped closer.

“Who is my father?”

Victoria looked towards the warehouse entrance.

Then she whispered:

“Richard knows.”

Richard's expression collapsed.

“Victoria, don't.”

But she continued.

“Your biological father is the man who ordered Jonathan's disappearance.”

A loud sound came from outside.

Everyone turned.

The warehouse doors began to open.

A man's voice echoed through the building.

“That's enough, Victoria.”

Alexander Blackwood stepped inside.

Behind him stood two men.

And between them was a familiar figure.

Jonathan Vale.

Alive.
