LOGINZander’s POV
After my shower, I noticed a missed text on my phone. It was a group chat from my best friends, Tony and Xavier.
Tony: Hey, stranger. Whatcha been up to?
Xavier: He’s probably enjoying all the socialites, if you know what I mean ;)
Zander: Mostly recuperating. Heart surgery, remember.
Tony: Do you want to hang out for a few days?
Zander: Sure, but we’d have to do it at my grandfather’s. Is that ok?
Xavier: I didn’t know you had a grandfather still alive
Zander: I’ll explain it when you get here. Let me ask him tonight, then I’ll let you know.
Tony: Sounds great. TTYL
Zander: Bye
Xavier: Laters.
I got dressed and headed downstairs. We opened gifts with Amelie, Nathan, Grandfather, and the evil witch, also known as Vivian. I didn’t like her one bit. Mainly because I got a feeling she was trying to sabotage Nathan and Amelie’s relationship, but also because of the way she looked at me. It was actually quite unsettling. She stared at me with pure hatred. Like I was the plague, she wouldn’t acknowledge me in a room unless it was to sneer at me.
Right now, she’s giving Amelie the death stare because Grandfather just gave her an antique jewelry cabinet. Inside are all the Michaels' family jewels. There must be millions of dollars' worth of jewelry in there. You can literally see the steam coming off Vivian’s head.
The last present given was from Nathan to Amelie. Oh, my gawd, it’s a dog! I’m so happy for Amelie; she has always wanted a dog. I’ve always wanted one too. I’m so glad she married Nathan. They seem to love each other genuinely.
“Zander, do you want to play with Biscuit?” Ame asked.
“Absolutely,” I said, smiling.
We played for over an hour, tossing the ball back and forth, then playing tug-of-war with Biscuit and other toys. I love this dog already. Grandfather took me aside and let me know we’d be looking after him while Amelie and Nathan were on their honeymoon. I was really excited to look after him.
“Ame, I think he needs to go outside,” I said as I noticed him sniffing around.
“Ok, let me grab my coat,” Ame announced.
We headed outside and ran him around until he did his business. Nathan had thought of every type of supply for Biscuit, including dog poop bags. Ame and I laughed our heads off searching the snow to find where he had gone. It actually felt like we were bonding even more as siblings because of this little furball.
“Ame,” I stated. “I love spending time with you. It feels like old times before you had school, work, and everything.”
“I love it, too,” Ame said, smiling at me.
“Ame, can I ask you a favor? Hear me out before you say no,” I explained.
“Zander, you know nothing good comes after ‘Hear me out,’ right?” Ame giggled.
“Can you please get me Isabella’s phone number?” I asked, followed by puppy dog eyes.
“Zander, you’d be playing with fire, worse yet, the mafia,” Ame said, crossing her arms.
“I know we can’t be romantically linked. I just want to talk to her,” I declared. “If I can’t be with her, I want to be her friend.”
“Are you sure you can keep it on that level?” Ame asked.
“Yes, that’s the only choice I have,” I responded.
“Ok, let me see what I can do,” Ame stated.
“You’re the best, Ame,” I grinned. “Now, let’s get inside. Biscuit looks like he’s exhausted.”
We headed inside, and Nathan was waiting for us with a towel for Biscuit. We dried him off, and he headed straight to his dog bed in front of the fire.
All of Nathan and Amelie’s friends arrived at the same time. They are an eclectic bunch, but really good people. One of them is the Hollywood star Dante Berkley. Dante is my favorite action star.
“Zander!” Dante exclaimed. “Don’t I owe you a beating in Mario Kart?”
“You wish, old man,” I scoffed.
“Oh, it’s so on,” Dante replied.
“Yes, it’s on like Donkey Kong,” I chuckled.
We disappeared into the media room, and I proceeded to hand Dante his butt at video games.
“What the heck!” Dante exclaimed. “Do you and Amelie have a video game and foosball gene?”
“We’re just really competitive,” I stated. “In fact, Amelie can get scary competitive, don’t get on her bad side.” I laughed.
“Point taken,” Dante smirked.
“Supper is ready, boys,” Morgan said, walking into the room holding Biscuit.
“You really like him, huh?” I asked Morgan.
“Yes, can I take him for part of the time while Amelie and Nathan are away?” Morgan replied.
“I’m sure that would be possible,” I told her.
We all headed to Christmas dinner in the dining room.
“Welcome, everyone,” Grandfather said. “I’m so glad everyone could join up for Christmas dinner tonight. We consider everyone sitting at this table to be part of our family. It is so special to be able to share the love and joy of the holidays with you all.”
Vivian was acting like a fool, flirting with Nathan’s assistant, Samuel, but I just ignored it because all I wanted to do was eat.
“Where is Biscuit?” Ame asked, looking around the dining room.
“He’s passed out in his kennel sleeping,” Morgan responded.
“He’s staying here with Zander and Grandfather,” Nathan advised.
“I was hoping I could have cute little Biscuit for some of the time, while you are gone,” Morgan said. “Auntie Morgan wants him to be my muse for the new couture doggy line I’m making in his honor.”
“Do you want us to have a bougie dog?” Ame giggled.
“Only the best for my furry nephew,” Morgan beamed.
“You can have him for the first week if you want, Morgan,” I expressed.
“Really?” Morgan said excitedly.
“Absolutely,” I replied. “I was going to ask Grandfather if a couple of my friends could come and stay.”
“Of course they can, Zander,” Grandfather replied.
“Cool! I’ll text them after supper,” I grinned.
“Now that everything is planned,” Grandfather said. “Merry Christmas, everyone! Let’s eat!”
“Finally!” I exclaimed, and everyone laughed, except the evil witch who was glaring at me.
Isabella’s POVI explained everything to Suzie and Trina. I mean everything. They had lots of questions about the mafia. They even asked if I had ever killed anyone. Um, no, but honestly, I would to protect my friends, my family, and, most importantly, Zander. Then they wanted to know all the details about Zander and me. Lastly, they wanted to know about Antonio DeMarco, whom they both agreed was the worst man on earth, and I didn’t even tell them about the fact that he dressed me up as a little slutty doll to take me to the sex clubs.“So, you need to keep this absolutely quiet,” I said with a very serious tone. “Not a single person outside of our group can know about Zander and me.”“I swear that I won’t say a peep,” Trina declared.“Me neither,” Suzie agreed.“Well, hello, ladies,” Niles purred as he walked into the room with Zander.“Niles!” Suzie and Trina said in unison. They both ran to Niles, hugged him, and kissed him on the cheek.“Shall we leave Zander and Isabella alone?”
Zander’s POVI couldn’t stop myself. As soon as the words left Bryanna’s mouth, my hand slapped her across her face. I’ve NEVER hit a woman before in anger. Of course, playful spanking with Isabella’s permission doesn’t count, and it was never in anger. I just couldn’t stand Bryanna condemning Isabella to hell and acting like Isabella was the reason for all of her troubles. She had connived, lied, and schemed her way into all of her problems, yet she blamed Isabella for everything.“Shut your fucking mouth, Bryanna!” I yelled. “If you touch one hair on Isabella’s head, you will regret the day you were born.” Bryanna recoiled from my rant. There was an audible gasp from the crowd.“You slapped me?” Bryanna cried. “How could you do that?”“You deserved it,” I spat. “You leave Isabella alone. Do you hear me?”Bryanna narrowed her eyes. “Oh, my fucking god! You love Isabella,” she screeched. “You’re denying our baby because you love that bitch.”The crowd started to murmur to each other.
Zander’s POVWow. That would completely explain why she has been so cryptic on social media about a present for the love of her life, but I never slept with her, which means, shit. Devo is going to be a dad. I looked over at Devo.“Holy fuck,” Devo exclaimed. “Bryanna is pregnant?”“Well, it seems that way,” I confirmed. “You do realize what that means, right?”We all stared in Devo’s direction. He was just oblivious to the situation.“Why are you staring at me?” Devo asked.“Devo,” Isabella said, puzzled. “Devo, think about it. You know where babies come from, right?”It was like we could all see the light bulb go off over Devo’s head.Devo gulped, “I’m going to be a daddy.”“If what we think is true,” I answered. “Yes, Devo.”Devo smiled widely. “I’m going to be a Daddy!” He cheered.“You’re happy about this?” Niles asked.“Yes, who wouldn’t be?” Devo said, smiling. “My boys can swim!”We all laughed.“I wonder if Bryanna wants to get married?” Devo stated.“You want to marry her?”
Isabella’s POV“I don’t know if I should be totally pissed off at you or drop to my knees,” I giggled.“Do I have a say in your decision?” Zander asked.“No, you don’t,” I responded.“Then maybe I should just do this,” Zander said, picking me up and throwing me on the bed.“Zander,” I squealed and giggled. “Not now.”“Why not?” Zander inquired.“Because the door on your side of the connection is still open and Niles can probably hear EVERYTHING,” I told him.“Nah, he can’t hear,” Zander said, attacking my neck.“I think he can,” I giggled.“Then we just have to be very, very quiet,” Zander said, dragging his mouth across my neck.“How am I supposed to be quiet with you doing that?” I questioned. “You know how you make me feel when you touch me.”“What? When I touch you like this?” Zander whispered, reaching his hand under my sweatshirt and grabbing my breast.“Yes, I feel like I need to be noisy,” I moaned as he pinched my erect nipple.“Come, I’ll prove to you that you can’t hear any
Isabella’s POVWhen we got back to school, things pretty much slipped into a routine: school, tutoring, and statistics for the team for me. For Zander, it was school, tutoring, and football. At night, we’d either cuddle and watch a movie or head out to a study group with Suzie and Trina. A lot of the time, Niles and Devo would join us. It seems both Suzie and Trina were dating Niles at the same time. Hey, who am I to judge? I’m sleeping with the love of my life while being engaged to a future mafia Don.Saturday is the first away game that I have to travel with the team. I really don’t want it to be weird for Zander. So, I asked Coach to seat me up front with the staff, not back with the players, even though the players had requested me back there.Zander thought there had been a mistake with the seating, but I told him it was perfectly fine. That we could be apart for the five hours it took to get to Tuscaloosa by bus. He texted me most of the way there.Isabella: I’m starting to thi
Zander’s POV“No, bye-bye,” Dante cried.“I’m sorry, buddy,” I explained. “I have to go back to school.”“NO!” Hailee screamed, holding onto my leg.Ugh. Why is it so hard to leave them? Two days and I don’t want to go back to school.“I’ll be back soon, promise,” I said, picking up Hailee and hugging her. “I love you.”“Hmpf,” Hailee pouted.Nathan just laughed his ass off. “I’ve decided Hailee will be the one who gives me grey hair,” Nathan chuckled. “Come to daddy, Hailee. Time for Uncle Zan to go.”Out of nowhere, Amelie hugged me from behind. “I don’t want him to go either,” Amelie sighed.“Maybe you’ll give Nathan grey hair instead,” I laughed.“I might already have,” Amelie giggled.“Never,” Nathan said, bending down to kiss Amelie.“Ugh,” Logan called from the couch. “Take me with you, Zander. Please.”“If Loggie goes, so do I,” Eliza called out.“No one is going with Zander,” Amelie announced. “Don’t you both have homework?”“Geesh, do you ever forget anything?” Logan said, h
