THE NEXT DAY - PLANS
"Lejandro woke up early. It was past four in the morning, and his things were already packed for Singapore." He didn't wake Elijah because he knew she would cry when she saw him leaving. He also didn't tell her how long he would be gone. He didn't know if it would be days, weeks, or months. He decided it was better not to say anything. He kissed Elijah on the lips before leaving their room. He headed to his mother's room to entrust his wife to her care. Knock, knock, knock. Lejandro's knock interrupted his mother's phone call. "I'll call you back later, my son is outside my room and he might hear us." "Okay, Ma'am," came the reply from the other end. "Oh, Lejandro, you're still here?" "I thought you were leaving." "I'm just about to leave, Mom. I just wanted to leave my wife in your care. I know you're the only one I can rely on here no one else." "Of course my son. I'll take care of your wife. Don't worry about her, she'll be fine here so don't worry okay." "Thank you, Mom. I'm leaving now!" "Don't bother seeing me off. I'll just drive myself I'll take Manong Ernes with me so he can drive my car when I get to the airport." After saying that, Lejandro left Hacienda Ferman. He left his wife in the care of his mother. Lejandro had no idea what plans his mother had for his wife, who he was leaving in her hands. A few hours later, Elijah woke up to find her husband gone. There wasn't even a note on her desk. The only thing left in her room was a maid's uniform. As soon as Elijah got out of bed, her room door opened, and the Mrs.Donita and the Maid of Hacienda Ferman entered. The Donya immediately grabbed the uniform from Elijah's desk and threw it at her. "It's already noon! You're still lying in bed! Meanwhile, your colleagues here in the house are already working!" "You're not a princess in this house anymore! So if you want to stay here you have to work for every bite you eat!" The Donya shouted at her. "Mom, Elijah said, trembling, "What are you doing to me?" The Donya only slapped her face so hard. She said, "Don't you ever call me Mom again! Because you're not my daughter!" "But I'm the wife of your son, Elijah said, tears welling up in her eyes. "Put that on and come with us!" "Maid Leonora will show you what you need to do in this house!" The Donya said seriously. But Elijah didn't move. "No, I won't wear this! I'm Lejandro's wife. I won't be a maid in this house!" Elijah said angrily. Those words burned in the Donya's ears, causing her to turn back to Elijah. "Phaaaaakk" "Phaaakkk... phakkkkk" ! "phaakkk" The Donya slapped Elijah again, on both sides of her face. This caused tears to well up in her eyes from the pain of the slaps. "Auuuoocch" "Huhuhuhuhuhu" "What did I do to you that you have to treat me like this?" "Where is my husband?" she sobbed. The Donya immediately grabbed Elijah's chin and said: "Hahahahahah" "My son is gone! He left you!" "He doesn't love you anymore." "After you gave him your body! He just left you without a word. Whahahahaha That's why you're not my daughter, and you're definitely not my son's wife." "Because you're weak and useless!" "From now on, you're just going to be a maid in this house!" the Donya shouted. "No!, no!, that's not true. I know he'll come back to me after he solves the problem in Singapore." she said defintly. And she added: "No, I won't accept this!" "I'm the one who gave Hacienda Ferman a lot of money, so you can't treat me like this!" "Are you stupid?" "You know the answer to that. Your husband married you because of that money. And now that the money is in his name since you got married, he doesn't have any problems anymore. And besides, don't you know that the reason he went to Singapore is because of another woman? He's going to marry her there, and he's going to forget about you!" The Donya shouted. She grabbed Elijah's long hair. "Stop!, I'm hurting!" "Let me go!" Elijah screamed repeatedly. She couldn't do anything because the Donya had a firm grip on her hair. Meanwhile, Lejandro, who was on his way to the airport, was stopped by a black car. "Lejandro's car stopped at that moment." "What's their problem?" Lejandro asked in surprise. When Lejandro saw who was in the black van, his fear subsided. The van was filled with Furtiza. "Lejandro got out of his car to talk to Furtiza." "Oh, hi' Furtiza, it's you. What are you doing here?" Lejandro asked. But before Furtiza could answer she handed Lejandro a can of juice. "For you. Drink i!"You're just going to leave without a word!" "I'll be upset with you if you don't drink that. You're leaving without a word." She said again, with sadness in her eyes. Lejandro just smiled and drank the contents of the can without hesitation. He didn't even think about what the consequences might be. Furtiza had a wide smile as she said to herself, "Go ahead, Lejandro. Finish it. Because once you finish it, hahaha, you won't remember Elijah or go back to her as your wife at Hacienda Ferman. Hahahahahhaha!" "So, how about that? I finished it. Can I go now? I'm going to miss my flight." Lejandro said, smiling. "Sure! Let's go." Furtiza said, putting her arm around Lejandro's, which surprised him. "What are you doing—" But Lejandro couldn't finish his sentence before he suddenly felt weak and dizzy, until he passed out. Furtiza immediately put Lejandro in her van, while his car was driven by her men. "You're mine now, Lejandro! When you wake up, I'll be the one you recognize as Mrs. Ferman, and your parents will recognize me too!" "Because that's what they really want!" "Whahahahahaha" She laughed happily as she looked at the handsome man's face. "Meanwhile, at Hacienda Ferman..." "Oh, Bernard! What are you doing here? I didn't expect you to visit so soon." "I'm sorry, Tita. I remembered that today is Lejandro's departure, so I decided to visit before he left." Bernard said. "What are you saying?" "Lejandro isn't leaving?" "He just went to the hacienda to go horseback riding with his wife, Furtiza."After a few days, weeks, and a months had passed, Elijah’s belly had grown big. As the days, weeks, and months went by, Elijah’s wounds from the accident had also healed. So, he insisted to the couple he was staying with that he wanted to look for a job, to save some money. Until the month of his expected delivery has finally arrived. “Auntie, please, agree already! I can still work. My belly is only five months along. Besides, I noticed I’m not having any problems with my pregnancy, Auntie. Please!” Elijah said with a smile and a gentle tone. “Ahm, Elijah my dear, are you sure about what you want to do? What if something happens to you and your baby?” she said worriedly. “Don’t worry, Auntie. I can do this. And besides, I know my baby will understand me. Right, baby?” He gently touched his rounded belly. “Alright then. Just be careful, okay? Don’t overwork yourself or I’ll be upset with you. You know I treat you like my own child ever since you ended up in our place, Elijah,” sh
"Manong Ernes! Where are the applicants?" Lejandro’s ask Mang Ernest. "Oh no, Señorito, the interview is already over. You'll see them again tomorrow; they've all gone home." "Ahh, is that so? Did I come back late? I'm sorry, Manong Ernes," Lejandro said. Suddenly, he felt dizzy and staggered, nearly losing his balance. "Sir! Señorito? Are you alright?" Ernes quickly caught his master, preventing Lejandro from collapsing onto the grass in the hacienda. As Lejandro held his head, memories of Elijah slowly returned— memories of their last time together. "Manong Ernes! What’s happening? Where’s my wife? And what am I doing here in the hacienda? Today is our wedding day, isn't it, Manong Ernes?" "Huh?!" Manong Ernes replied in shock. "What are you saying? That was weeks ago. What’s happening to you, Señorito?" Ernes asked, concerned. Manong Ernes then decided to call the Doña to inform her of what was happening to Señorito. "Please sit here for a while, Sir. I
''Lunch: Elijah stared blankly outside the hut, where he could clearly see the children playing outside their own homes. He held his small belly and said, "My child, I will raise you full of love. You will grow up healthy and full of energy, just like the children I see now. I will stand on my own two feet just to raise you well, my child..." he whispered, still holding his belly. His stomach wasn’t showing yet since he was only about a month into his pregnancy. "I wonder how Lejandro is doing? Is he in a good condition now? I wonder if he ever thinks of me? Or maybe he misses the happy times we had together?" Elijah thought as the wind blew his long hair behind him. Being in the province, Elijah could fully enjoy the fresh air—just what he needed for his pregnancy. "Elijah!" "Dear! Aren’t you hungry yet?" "Sorry I was a bit late with the cooking," said Aunt Bora to her. Elijah wiped a tear that had unknowingly fallen down her cheek. Ernesto, who was busy picking sweet potat
“Without any difficulty, I got in right away.” “Where could Furtiza be now? Why can’t I see her? Is she really hiding from me? You can’t hide from me, Furtiza! Now that I’ve gotten into Hacienda Ferman. If you had just granted my request, things wouldn’t have ended up like this, Furtiza,” he said with a smirk to himself. “Excuse me! Maybe you’d like to get up now from the interview set?” interrupted a man who was also applying at Hacienda Ferman. “Ah! Sorry. I forgot someone else was next. My apologies!” said Erick, bowing repeatedly before finally leaving the spot. Unknown to Erick, the man was still staring at him, seemingly angry. “Name?” asked Manong Ernes abruptly to the man. “Roderick Bambino, 25 years old, single, and venturing into various places to gain experience in any type of work,” Roderick said at length. “You look smart. Are you sure you really want to work here in the hacienda?” Ernes asked again. “Yes, sir! I’m willing to learn and understand everything that
''A speeding car was fast approaching the spot where Elijah and Ernesto were having a cheerful conversation. “Move! Move! Move!” yelled the man inside the car. “Get out of the way! My brakes aren’t working!” he shouted repeatedly as the car drew closer to the two. Ernesto acted quickly. He immediately pushed the wheelchair Elijah was sitting in. Because of the force, the wheelchair toppled over at the edge of the road. “Ahhh! Ouch… That hurts!” Elijah cried out. But he stopped complaining when he saw how close Ernesto came to getting hit by the runaway car. “Oh my God!” Elijah exclaimed as he slowly stood up and straightened himself. He carefully approached Ernesto, who was sprawled on the road. Because of the wounds on his face and body, Elijah struggled to walk toward Ernesto. Suddenly, Ernesto lifted his head and looked around, searching for Elijah. When he saw him, he stood up despite the pain and quickly rushed over. “Sh*t! Just my luck. And of all times, I had to have co
"Papa! Good morning... Are the papers ready for my trip to America?! I need to leave today!" said Furtiza, ( Elijah), hurriedly to her father. "Yes, my child! The papers are ready. You're in charge of everything now," replied Doque as he handed the papers to Furtiza. "Yes! I can finally leave this country. I can finally get the face I've always dreamed of having," Furtiza whispered happily to herself. "Good thing Papa asked me to go abroad. I don't have to worry about a thing—he took care of everything," Furtiza said with a smile as she walked away. "Bye, Papa!" she said, kissing Doc Doque on the cheek. As Furtiza left Doque Hospital, Doc Doque immediately instructed Dref Mowre to follow her. "Follow my daughter. But don’t let her know you’re tailing her wherever she goes. She might notice and get upset with me again," Doc Doque Juarez calmly ordered. "Don’t worry, Chairman. I’ll handle everything," Dref responded before quickly leaving to follow Elijah, aka Furtiza. Aling Elvie left Doque Hospital in silence. She walked away from the nurse without a word."Where could Ma'am Elijah be now? Why was she transferred to another hospital? Is her condition serious? I wish I hadn't left her side. I would’ve known what to say to Señor Lejandro," Elvie said to herself."Which hospital should I look for Elijah in now?" Aling Elvie anxiously asked herself as she walked out of the hospital—when she suddenly spotted a familiar face."Wait a minute! That looks like Ma'am Elijah. I thought she was transferred to a different hospital? Why is she here? And what's more surprising—she's dressed well, looking sexy, and even wearing high heels?!" Aling Elvie wondered in shock as she secretly followed the woman who resembled Ma'am Elijah."And the doctors and nurses she passes by are even showing her respect? Is what I'm seeing real? She doesn’t act like the Ma'am Elijah I knew," Elvie told herself."Excuse me? What are you staring at? Can you step aside? You’re blocki
Someone’s “Ernesto, I thought you were in Manila? Why are you here in Bulusan?” asked Tiya Bora. “I ran into some bad luck at my workplace in Manila, Aling Bora. They changed the director and removed all the old employees from Doque Hospital. They replaced us with new staff. It’s really frustrating—the new director has no compassion. They just fired us without warning!” Ernesto explained, visibly annoyed. “Why would they do that? That new director sounds awful. Oh well, karma’s fast, hijo! Hahaha!” Tiya Bora said, laughing. “Oh well, stop by the house later so we can catch up, hijo. I’m sure Karding misses you. You’re the only young man who used to visit our home,” she added happily. “Sure, ma’am. Maybe you’d like me to accompany you to town too? I can push the wheelchair for him. You’re too old to be taking care of a patient, Aling Bora. Why were you the one assigned to care for this person, anyway?” Ernesto asked, frowning. “Wow! This guy’s full of himself!” Elijah thought, bu
Elijah: POV "Good morning, Manang Bora. How was your sleep? Did you sleep well?" I greeted Aling Bora cheerfully. "Oh! You woke up so early, dear. Aren’t your legs hurting? And you're even cooking! Oh no, you might strain yourself, dear. Let me take over that," said Aling Bora with concern. "I can manage, Manang. Besides, it’s good for me to move my legs around—it might help them recover. And I’m not used to just sitting around, Aling Bora. I’d only get bored if I had nothing to do inside the house. So please, let me do it," I said with a smile, even though I could still feel the pain from the wound on my cheek. After saying that, I went back to cooking our breakfast. "Whoever marries you will be very lucky, dear. You’re so kind, hardworking, and respectful," I heard Aling Bora say as she arranged the dining table. "Ahmmm... I don’t really know, Aling Bora." "Wait a moment, dear..." Aling Bora said, stopping me gently. "Why don’t you just call me 'Tiya' (Auntie)? Since you’ll
