CHAPTER FIVE

            I pulled over the car in the parking lot. Grabbing my clutch, I hurried toward the entrance. 

       I winced at the sight of him. I quickened my steps as I reached the hospital. I hardly talked to my mother. We were in a hate and love relationship after Ansley's death. I had one more reason to ignore her that she hid about my niece. 

       "What are you doing here, Chris?" I stopped beside him as he was talking to the doctor. He wasn't my boss right now. I was off duty. 

       He raised his eyebrows. I should be the one acting like this. 

       'What was he doing here? How does he know my mother?'

       My heart began to race. Did he know my mother through Ansley? S***! He must have known I was her sister.
