It’s strange how one’s fears always come true. He asked the question that has been replaying in my mind on an endless loop for the past three years. My heart had only just calmed when it started racing again.

“Please just let me leave, you don’t need to see me again. I won’t tell anyone about your town. Please just let me leave.” I beg as my body begins to shake.

“Sweety, we don’t want you to leave, please, calm down. Why don’t you take a bath and then when you are ready you can come and talk to us?” Avery speaks softly, still rubbing my back in comfort.

I shake my head and move to get off the bed. I am about to fall to my knees in front of this man and beg if that means I can leave.

“You helped save the life of one of my men. Whatever it is, we are thankful to you for helping us.” I stop in my tracks at Cain’s words.
