LOGINLucien's POV
“Why did you get out of your room?” I helped her lay back down. Her hands were cold as ice as she shivered uncontrollably. “It seems like you are coming up with a fever. It might be your body reacting to the silver that was once in it,” “Nice,” she scoffed. “An alpha and a caregiver, you are full of surprises. I wonder what else you have in store,” She added with a smile that lightened the mood. “That's pretty much all the gifts I have. And why did you even step out of your room?” “I heard how chaotic it was, so I decided to check it out,” She answered softly. There was no fire in her, it was like she had lost her purpose, her hope. “Rest,” I patted her down. I looked around the room, trying to avoid direct eye contact because of the allegations that I couldn't shake off my mind. I wondered what if, just if they were right. I couldn't tell, I couldn't assume that my oldest friend, the twin of my beloved, would murder her sister. I stepped out after tucking her in, my mind felt fragmented, my focus rattled as worry slowly sunk in. “How is he?” I asked the doctor that stepped out of Zane’s room. “We are planning on amping the sedative dosage,” He replied cautiously. From his voice, I could tell that there was something more to the news. “Amping it? Why?” I retorted. He sighed, scratching his head while his eyes scurried around the room. Obviously looking for someone that could bail him out of the tense situation. “You better start speaking before I take an action that would make you speak,” “It's not working, Alpha,” He spat swiftly. He took a deep breath before proceeding. “We have given him a dose to knock out a mountain beast but he is still wide awake for some reason,” I slowly walked to the threshold, observing how quiet he was, unblinking as he stared at the light bulb. “What has happened to my brother?” I asked calmly, pushing down the fear that was eating my heart. I couldn't feel anything other than that, the numbing sensation of cold fright. “We have no idea but we intend to find out soon,” The doctor answered sharply as he handed a file to one of the nurses. “I have just booked an MRI scan. Hopefully we will get better exposure when we go into his brain,” “Thank you,” “If you will excuse me,” He muttered with a bow before walking away. I approached Zane's bed side slowly, the broken look he had destroyed me. It was like staring at an empty shell. “Looking at you now, you kind of look like mother,” I chuckled lightly. “It's vexing because you have none of her attributes. She gives up too quickly, you do not…” I paused when I noticed that he flinched. “You are a fighter, Zane!” I grunted heavily. “You don't give up and you won't now. I don't know what is going on inside your head or who is behind this but you will pull through,” With a heavy breath, I added, “I love you brother,” I grabbed his hand firmly and slowly his eyes closed shut. His pounding heart rate slowly began to drop as he drifted asleep. “Stay strong, Zane. I will be waiting for you,” I muttered before I headed out of the room. Facing my brother pulled my focus to a problem that I had been running away from, a problem that I needed to face head on without any form of sentiment. “Angelina,” I walked into her room to see her reading a magazine with a beaming look . Something felt off when I walked in, everything felt wrong. I wanted to pass it off as my paranoia and wolf instinct acting up because of the sensitive issue but I just couldn't. First, her breathing was out of rhythm, controlled but still out of rhythm. Which showed she moved in a hurry. The magazine had a date placed two weeks back, an old magazine that could only be found outside the hospital and it wasn't in the room when I brought her in moments back. “Is everything okay?” She asked, pulling me out of the moment. “Yeah,” I exhaled, grinning to make my response convincing. “I was worried, just came to check up on you. That's all,” “I miss her,” She muttered just when I was about to leave. “I see her everyday in the mirror, I see her smile, I see her eyes and it haunts me. I hate myself for it,” “No,” I reached out to her. “You are a reminder of the good she lived for, the love she brought to the world, you are her twin,” I said, finally able to gaze into her eyes. I hesitated to proceed with my words, a step that I didn't want to take but it seemed necessary at the moment. “Have you heard the news?” I asked her. A sudden worry fell on her face as she stared back in suspense. “Tell me,” “Trivia's death is now marked as a murder, a homicide. She was killed, Angelina,” I said and she reacted in disbelief. “We found evidence of it,” “You are saying… Triv was killed?” “Yes and the killer is still out there,” I voiced in a deep icy tone as I stared into her eyes, looking for something, anything that will convince me otherwise but I got nothing. That was a sign for me to push further. “The killer managed to fool all of us and I will find the person and I will rip their throats out of their head and hang them with it,” I kept my gaze on her and noticed how she gulped hard anxiously. “Or maybe your brother beat you to it,” she said. “What do you mean?” I responded curiously as I drew closer to her on the bed. “Romero, he always had it for Trivia. With him behind killing the royals, it's only …” “Wait, wait,” I stopped her before she could continue. “We haven't ruled him as the killer yet, we don't know for certain that he is the killer,” “What more do you want?” She asked, sounding almost impatient. “He had the files, the blueprints of their fucking houses. How will he come by such documents? He is far more involved,” Her words caused a sudden turmoil within me. My blood boiled with agony as it all became clear to me. “How did you know about the blue prints and the files? You haven't left your room,” my question caught her off guard. “Lucien, you…” she paused, her face conveying a sense of confusion. But it was all a facade that I could finally see through. I could spot the smile behind the act. “Answer me, Angelina,” I said calmly. I was face to face with my mate's killer. The heart crushing part was that she was the reflection of her. “I w…” “Hey mummy,” A little girl said by the door, cutting her shirt. I was puzzled by the scene and the look the child had on. She was no little girl and my instincts went into a sudden overdrive. “What are you doing here?” Angelina asked. She was so surprised to see the girl. “Daddy sent me, he wants you to bring brother to him,” She said and suddenly her gaze turned straight to me. “Hello brother,”Epilogue Third Person's POV “How are you holding up?” Rio asked Brielle after the council of Alpha that was held in the Eclipse pack. Brielle decided not to attend the meeting because it felt like torture to be around people at the time. “Fine, everyday, a new process and new method of looking forward,” She responded with a smile. Rio's face was covered in slash scars that were still healing. “It's been weeks but I can still feel the tension,” he confessed as he laid his back against a post. “Crescent pack has begun a democratic form of leadership that will be overseen by Eclipse and the Blue Moon. As from now on, they will elect their own leaders,” “You know soon, this method will spread across other packs,” I pointed out. “Looking forward to it,” he replied with a grin. “It surely beats being born into a responsibility you didn't ask for,” “True,” Brielle reacted. “Everything is going fine, I'm free but yet I don't feel free,” He walked to her side and exhaled heavily. “
Brielle's POV“You think anger adds to strength, it doesn't,” Chase's wolf said. I was spooked when I heard it speak, it wasn't possible for a wolf to speak but I knew Chase wasn't a normal alpha like the rest. He had his paws in Lucien, crushing him to the floor. Rio and Zane were holding the rest of the alphas back and Angelina stood by the corner. She was the first one to notice me. “Why are you doing this?” I asked him. They were all shocked to see me on my feet. I held the dagger I had pulled out of my back and a sudden relief came over me. “Impossible,” Chase remarked. “You won't just die,” “No!” Angelina roared. Lucien transformed back and hurried to me. His body was scarred with claw marks and slashes. “How? Where? What's going on?” He was surprised to see me. His hands couldn't let go of mine as tears escaped his eyes. “I'm sorry, I should have protected you,” “I'm here now and we have a job to finish,” I said to him as I wiped his tears. “It's strange seeing you cry
Third Person's POV Everything felt cold, her mind sunk into the darkness and gradually got pulled into a strange void. An occurrence that caused her to gasp suddenly and jolt awake. Brielle woke up in a room, on a bed. She looked around in confusion and fright and realized it was her old room, the one back home in Crescent. She had almost forgotten how it was. “How?” She asked herself, looking around again curiously. She tried flashing back to what she remembered last but it felt blank to her. She remembered being stabbed by a lady called Angelina but it felt like a dream to her. “Sweetheart,” someone pushed open the room's door. She cowered backwards when he stepped in. It was like seeing a ghost and he was a ghost. “Brielle, are you okay? You seem frightened, honey? Is it the nightmares again?” “Dad,” she exhaled heavily, her heart thumping against her chest as she drew closer to her father. “How…how is this possible?” “How is what?” Her dad asked with a perplexed look. “I
Lucien's POV “You fight like a little boy,” Chase remarked as he crushed my windpipe with his boot. I was only able to take down two alphas before they brought me down. I could hear Rio grunting from a distance as he fought against the alpha from the north. The man fought like a beast, moved like a predator stalking its prey. He took Rio by surprise, faster than his size. “I never liked you, Lucien. I told your sister that you are nothing to me and she tried to make your existence somewhat meaningful,” He spoke with pride in his voice as he applied more force on the boot that was against my throat. “Y…you are going to die for that,” I wheezed. The air in my lungs slowly went out but I knew I had to keep fighting, I had to keep Brielle safe, I had to keep my brother safe. It was my responsibility. “I would love to s__” That was the point of his sentence that I heard. My eyes became instantly filled with a buzzing sound that disoriented my entire system. My hands shivered tremendo
Brielle's POV“Where are they?” I asked her. She stood still and slowly, the darkness around began to clear up. It was sucked into a vortex above. That was when I realized that I was in a room with chains and weapons around. “Brielle,* Zane called out behind me. I ran into his arms as he stood by the edge of the room with the Priestess. “How did you get in here?” The priestess asked. “She heard the voices,” Suzie responded as she gently changed into a new pair of shoes. “She could hear the voices of the damned. Maybe because she is part of the damned,” “What is she talking about?” I was curious to know. The look on the priestess face made it scarier to want to know. “Only few people are allowed to hear the other side, listen to what they say, the story they have to say. We call them Whisperers,” The priestess explained as she took a seat next to the fireplace. Her old raggy clothes couldn't hide the fear she felt. “Do you want to tell her?” Suzie referred to the Priestess. “D
Lucien's POV.“I need them here as soon as possible,” I said to the squad leader on the phone. “And General, stay safe,” “Brielle! Damn it!” Rio's voice caught my attention. It was coming from.the dining chambers. I hurried in to meet his hand on her, she was looking almost lifeless. “Rio!” I growled and pulled him away from her. “What the fuck did you do to her?” I held her hand and it was cold as ice. She was mumbling words that I couldn't understand, saying them on repeat as she was glued to the spot she stood. I couldn't move her, it was like moving an unmovable pillar. “She's sucked into wherever they are,” Rio replied as he examined her beside me. “I saw her got called by it. She was drawn to it, they wanted her in there,” “Who is they? You keep saying they, I didn't even know who THEY are,” I retorted. I was falling deeper into the confusion with each glance. I had no idea what to do because both my brother and the priestess that could help were both trapped in wherever
