The Divorce That Made Me Untouchable

CLAIRE"What's wrong babe?" I raised my voice when I heard the sound of something falling from the bathroom. I was currently on bedrest on the advice of the doctor. Considering that in my sixth month of pregnancy, there were premature contractions. So I can't move freely for now. And hearing that loud and sudden sound made me panic. I was afraid something would happen to Charles, my husband."Charlie?" This was the second call because he didn't answer. I was honestly starting to worry that he had fallen in the bathroom. It was because he hadn't slept well in the past few days. So hearing that, I felt like jumping out of bed. "Babe? If you're okay, please give me an answer," I said, trying to sound a little louder. This time there was the sound of the door opening. Fortunately after that, Charles' face came into view. "Oh thank Godness." I stroked my chest. "What happened inside? Did you fall?""No," he replied, coldly. I furrowed my brows. "Then what was that about? Oh my bad,

CLAIREI tried to act normal but my feelings couldn't lie. I loved Charles and that's why it hurt so much to see him prioritize his best friend over his own wife. I still remember what Charles said, that his best friend in his life was very important. But I never thought that the best friend he was referring to was a woman, who was also pregnant. And I never knew that he would choose his best friend over his wife who was always there for him. In my mind, the only woman Charles cared about after marriage was me. But I was wrong, Charles still preferred his best friend. What should I do to make Charles prioritize me again? I want to be his first and foremost again. Because I'm his wife and because I'm pregnant with his child. Do I have to... oh my gosh, why is this? Why does my belly suddenly feel like it's being stabbed?I couldn't walk anymore. My body collapsed to the floor. And when I looked down, I saw blood dripping from my leg. Oh God! This is bad. I had to call Charles t

CLAIREAs I opened my eyes, I saw Matthew holding Charles' hand in the air. His eagle-sharp eyes stared at Charles like his prey. "I can just as easily destroy Ashford Group as destroy your last name."Charles laughed. He then looked at me. That soft looking face, anyone if they saw it, would definitely think that he was a good guy, in fact he was very cruel. "Wait, have we met before?" Charles asked in a condescending tone."Matthew Alaric Kingsley," Matthew replied firmly, not flinching in the slightest."Matthew who was once rejected by Claire? Ah, I remember you. You're just the kid who used to get a scholarship to continue high school." Charles then dismissed Matthew's hand. He chuckled mockingly. As for Matthew, he looked very calm. It was as if Charles' words didn't bother him at all.In fact, what Charles said was the truth. Matthew was indeed a child who went to school on a scholarship because I heard he came from a family that was quite difficult. But that doesn't mean it

CLAIRE"If what you say is true, then you'll definitely find a way, Matt. But I'm sorry, for now, don't do anything. I don't want the situation to get worse.""So you still want to stay with Charles?""Yes."But not to love him anymore. I did love Charles, but that was before. Before today. Before he brought Eva into our home. Before I lost my daughter. And before he chose to leave me to be with Eva.Although my love was great, I didn't want to be his second choice. I also didn't want to be one of the choices he was free to choose.I'm still confused, but that doesn't mean I will continue to build my love for Charles in order to be chosen. I can still think. My pride was hurt, which is why I tried to keep him from leaving.I just wanted to explain the misconception that Charles believed. I wanted him to understand that I wasn't having an affair with Matthew. So even if our relationship ended, I wasn't the one who caused it.Charles might forget that I was also an independent girl be

CLAIREI laughed to myself. I know, I’m aware. But I’m the one who chose to stay. It’s not because of anything, but because I still want to carry out my revenge.I came into Charles’s life with so much. So when I leave, I won’t be leaving empty-handed either. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.“Maybe Charles will change if I become the woman he wants,” I muttered.Matthew chuckled softly. “What’s wrong?” I demanded. “Nothing. It’s just… it’s silly to change just to be chosen, Claire.”I clenched my fists and scowled. “I believe in the power of true love, Matt. By giving Charles this one night, by tomorrow his head will surely be clearer.” “I admire that you can still stay calm, Claire.”In reality, I was seething. I hated imagining what Charles and Eva were doing in the next room. I felt disgusted that I’d ever had a past with a man like Charles. It was truly embarrassing. But showing that I was bothered by his behavior would just make me look like an unsecure woman. Whereas
