Chapter 13: The shift

Dwight woke up with a throbbing headache and he feels like vomiting. He jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom to empty the contents in his stomach. He drank a lot last night and now he is facing the consequences of his action.

“Ah”, he groaned as he vomited yet again. “Ugh! I hate this”, he said.

“If you hate it, why did you drink so much?” he heard his sister say from outside the door. “Be fast with whatever you are doing in there and come outside to wish your son a happy birthday”, she said.

He heard footsteps which means she already left and he stood up. He looked at himself in the mirror and thought about what Maxwell told him at the bar the night before. All Maxwell said is the truth. He really needs to move on and forget the past. He lost his mate but that’s not the end of the world.

He sighed and took his shaving stick. “First, let’s get rid of these beards.” He said and get to work.
