Kael's POV

"I am pregnant," she said quietly.

His pen stopped moving across his notes. He looked up at her with what appeared to be surprise, though something about his reaction seemed carefully measured.

"Pregnant," he repeated thoughtfully. "How far along do you believe you are?"

"I am not certain. Not very far, I think."

"And you are concerned that the pain might indicate complications?"

"Yes."

Throughout this exchange, I watched Sena carefully. Her entire body was tense, and I could smell the fear radiating from her in waves. But Dr. Ashford's demeanor seemed perfectly normal - concerned, focused on gathering medical information.

"When did the pain begin?" he asked.

“Some minutes ago. It started mild but has been getting progressively worse."

"Any nausea? Changes in appetite? Unusual fatigue?"

"Some nausea, yes. And I have been more tired than usual."

"That is quite normal for early pregnancy, though the cramping does warrant investigation." He prepared his instruments. "I will ne

Kael's POVThe moment I saw Sena curled up in pain on our bed, every protective instinct I possessed roared to life. The scent of her distress filled the room - fear, pain, and something else I could not quite identify but that made my wolf stir restlessly in the depths of my consciousness."What is wrong?" I demanded, crossing the room in quick strides. "Vera, why does she look so pale?""She has been experiencing some discomfort," Vera said carefully, though I could see the worry etched deep in her features. "I think she needs medical attention.""Then why has Dr. Ashford not been called?" I asked, already moving toward the door to summon him."No," Sena said desperately, struggling to sit up despite obvious pain. "Please do not call him."I stopped mid-stride and turned back to her, confusion and frustration warring in my chest. "Sena, if you are unwell, you need proper medical care. What has gotten into you? You have been behaving strangely all day.""I just... I would prefer some

Sena's POVDr. Ashford's question hung in the air like poison, seeping into my consciousness and spreading dread through every cell of my body."What do you mean?" I whispered, though part of me did not want to hear his answer."Curses have a way of... affecting bloodlines," he said with practiced detachment. "Particularly when conception occurs while the curse is actively influencing the father's magical signature. The developing child can face certain... complications.""You are trying to frighten me.""I am trying to educate you about the reality of your situation." He moved closer, and I backed toward the door. "Without proper intervention, pregnancies involving cursed blood rarely reach full term. And when they do..." He trailed off with a meaningful look."When they do what?" I demanded, even as terror clawed at my throat."Let us just say that the survival rate for both mother and child is considerably lower than one might hope."The casual way he discussed my baby's potential

Sena's POVBack in Kael's chambers, I tried to settle into the familiar comfort of the room, but anxiety continued to claw at my insides. Every shadow seemed to hide potential threats, every sound made me jump."I need to take care of some urgent matters," Kael said, studying my face with concern. "I will send for Vera to keep you company while I am away."Before I could protest that I wanted to be alone, he was already giving orders to a servant. Within minutes, Vera arrived with her usual warm smile and bustling energy."My dear child," she said, rushing over to embrace me. "I am so happy to finally have some proper time with you now that you are awake. I feel like I have barely seen you since your recovery began."I accepted her embrace, but I could not summon my usual enthusiasm for her company. The events in the dungeon had shaken me more deeply than I wanted to admit. How could I know who to trust when enemies wore the faces of alli

Sena's POVBefore Henrik could explain what he meant about Lysander, Kael's voice echoed through the dungeon corridor, sharp with concern and authority."What is happening down here?"I spun toward the sound, my heart hammering against my ribs. But what I saw made my blood freeze in my veins - the corridor behind me was empty. Lydia and Dr. Ashford had vanished as completely as if they had never been there at all.The impossibility of their sudden disappearance sent fresh terror shooting through me. How could two people simply evaporate from a stone corridor with only one entrance? What kind of power were we truly dealing with?"Sena?" Kael's voice came again, closer now. "What is going on down here?"I shot a desperate look at Henrik and Marta, silently commanding them to keep quiet about what they had just witnessed. Henrik's eyes were wide with understanding, and he gave an almost imperceptible nod."Nothing is wrong,

Sena's POVI spun around to face the source of that chilling voice, my heart nearly stopping at what I saw.Dr. Ashford stepped out of the shadows, but this was not the gentle, concerned physician I had grown to trust. His expression was cold and calculating, his eyes holding a predatory gleam I had never seen before. Behind him, Lydia emerged with a sinister smile that made my blood run cold. Her entire demeanor had shifted - gone was any pretense of fragility or innocence, replaced by something dark and dangerous."Who are they?" Henrik whispered frantically from behind the bars, his voice trembling with fear."Someone you should fear," Lydia answered smoothly, her voice carrying a threat that made both my aunt and uncle shrink back against the far wall of their cell."What are you doing here?" I demanded, my voice rising with panic. "How did you get in? Where is Thane?"Lydia's smile widened, showing too many teeth. "I can be
