Gleaming hardwood floors allowed my case to roll smoothly as I gawked at the interior. More gleaming wood created built-ins with white plaster above them, with a dark wood trim, on the wall across from the door. A floor to ceiling gray stone fireplace sat between them. To the left was a wall of glass that looked out over the mountain. Leaving my case behind, I quickly went to ohhh and aww at the view. It was gorgeous. Reds, browns, and oranges covered the trees as the leaves had changed but not yet dropped. Fading softly, the sun disappeared behind the fire-colored foliage. I watched until the pinks and purple of the fading sun faded.
Turning from the wall of glass, I noticed the kitchen tucked along the far wall. Marble countertops set on gray cabinets. Upper cabinets were only on the interior wall. The exterior wall was glass from countertop to ceiling. A large marble topped island sat in the middle. My focus was on the back door. Looking through its window, I could see the deck that I seen on the way in. More cozy looking furniture was arranged near a patio table. Through the only other door was a half bathroom. Turning I inspected the curving carved staircase that stood between the kitchen and the living space.
It was gorgeous. The wood curved around like it was bent into shape. The etched spindles filled the space between the banister and steps. Grabbing my case, I carried it carefully up the gently curving work of art. At the top I found the bedroom. It was completely open to the floor below facing the glass wall. I couldn’t wait to wake up to the view of the trees gently lit by the raising sun. Also relieved that whoever built this place didn’t want the sun rising to wake them and put the glass wall to the west and not the east.
Back downstairs, with my book and a fancy strawberry drink I found in the fridge, I snuggled into the lounge on the deck. Surrounded by the fauna of the Appalachians with the ambient noise of being in the woods, I hoped to truly absorb the gift of not killing every plant I brought home. No matter how hardy, I could kill it. Any time I mentioned I’d gotten a new plant, my family and friends started referring to it as my latest victim.
An hour later found me bored and slightly cool. Gathering my drink and book I went back into the cabin. On my way through I grabbed another fruity drink, this one mango. Sprawled out on the L shaped couch I flipped through channels on the gigantic TV mounted on the wall over the fireplace. Nothing of interest on three hundred channels. Ugh. Scrolling on the home screen I found YouTube. It logged me in as guest. Being nosy I looked at the history to see what previous people had watched. Everything from political to down right p**n. All forms for conspiracy theories and true crime. Finding a video on things that go bump in the night I put it in. How could that be a bad choice. I was just alone, in the woods, in someone else’s house. I laughed a little as I snuggled under a blanket.
My phone began to dip as I drifted off listening to some guy droning on about shadow people. Knowing if I didn’t get up now, I’d spend the night on the couch, I forced myself to stand. Tiding up before I headed upstairs. In the bathroom off the bedroom, I got ready for bed. Teeth brushed, hair in ponytail, face washed I eyed the king-sized bed that dominated the room. Earlier I had checked for cameras and didn’t find anything. Plus, my friend had vouched for the safety of this house. Not trusting the sheets, I stripped them and put my own on. I’d trust I wasn’t being watched, but, I wanted to be sure I was on clean sheets. Once the bed was remade, I stripped down. After draping my clothes on the chair by the bed, I slid into the cool soft sheets. Laying on the nightstand by the remote to the lights was a candle sitting on candle warmer. Beside it was a note that said for a blissful night, to turn on the warmer. Bringing the candle to my nose I detected vanilla and mulberry. Some other notes I wasn’t sure what were. I turned the warmer on. As the delectable scent filled the room, I made a mental note to see if I could buy one in town. Quickly I dropped off to sleep.
On the ground floor we entered the garage. Instead of leading me to the boring silver SUV, he continued to the car parked in the third spot. He held open the driver’s door of the hyper blue two-seater Mercedes-Benz convertible. Still holding my hand, he helped me in. I sat on the supple soft white leather seat. Once I was settled, he closed the door. A moment later he slid into the passenger seat. He flashed me a smile as he looked at the fancy interior of the little harlot that had seduced me into buying her a few years ago.I didn’t drive her much. She was too flashy for a trip to the grocery store. Plus had no cargo space. But going to a nice restaurant while we were all gussied up? She was perfect. While waiting for the garage door to go up, he connected his phone to the car’s Bluetooth. The GPS app loaded on the laptop sized screen. I glanced at the destination while backing up with a smile. “I know where that is.”“Been there often?” He seemed a little jealous. I slid my sunglas
The show ended right before I needed to be back at my desk. Stomach full of Mexican goodness, I kissed my demon. On my way out of the room, I snagged the bag of truffles.“Hey!” Caspian made a move to grab the bag. I dodged him. Blowing him a kiss over my shoulder, I sauntered out of the room with my goodies.Smiling, I entered my office. My office chair spun around slowly to reveal my demon sitting there with his arms crossed. He snaked out a long strong arm to yank me into his lap. The bag dropped from my hand as I grabbed onto him in surprise. I straddled him. His fingers sank into my hair, pulling my head towards him. Our lips crushed together hungrily. His tongue demanded entry which I immediately granted. A bulge began to press against my girlie bits.Moaning I arched my back. My breasts pressed against his chest. I ground myself against him. His free hand slid under my shirt. With delicious slowness, his hand slid up from my waist to my shoulder. Applying pressure, he pushed me
“Who the fuck are you?” I heard Rich snarl as I stepped onto the white marble flooring in the front hallway. Through the glass wall, I could see Rich standing on the front porch. In his hands I could see a brown paper bag. Had he somehow gotten our lunch?Scoffing caused me to turn to look at the demon in the hall. Caspian was leaning against the doorway. Arms and ankles crossed nonchalantly. I wasn’t fooled by the casual stance. He was primed to attack. Concerned, I hurried across the tile to stand beside my demon.“What are you doing here Rich?” I demanded, while placing a soothing hand on Caspian’s arm. Rich’s eyes zeroed in on my hand. “What are you wearing?”It took serious effort not to scoff at his attire. Black oversized sunglasses were perched in his gray recently cut hair. A checkered green and red polo paired with khaki shorts that stopped just below the knee. White ankle socks with green crocs were on his feet. He looked like he had googled Lake Chic. His brown eyes had an
I tilted my head backwards to look at the angry demon looming over me. Thunderous was a good word to describe his face. His brows were drawn tightly, his mouth pulled into a sneer. The scariest was his eyes. They were red. I’d never seen them red. Vaguely I recalled that show on shadow people talking about how they had red eyes. Was his anger so strong it was disrupting his magically constructed body? Those red eyes moved from the monitor to me when I didn’t answer him. My fear must have shown on my face. He closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them again, they were their usual alluring brown orbs.In an attempt to sooth him, I placed my hand over his that was on the back of my chair. “He’s trying to get his job back. As the Vice President of Compliance, I’m part of the conversation as to if they are eligible for hire. I’m trying to block him, but he was a favorite of some of the higher ups before he left.”I clicked open the email to see what Rich had to say. As expected, it
I drifted off with Caspian’s hand stroking my hair. His heartbeat lulling me to sleep under my head. Nearly asleep, I felt Chubbers walk across me to lay down on his chest. She started purring when he scratched her head. Tramp. The alarms blaring woke me the next morning. Caspian’s arm was draped over my waist. I turned to snuggle into his chest. Mulberry wrapped around me. Strong arms wrapped around me. I nuzzled his neck. A soft kiss was placed on my head. Perhaps it was time to retire. Going to work when someone this sexy was beside me seemed to be a crime against nature.Nature called so I rolled out of bed reluctantly to answer. A long hot shower was what I needed. I lathered the vibrant hair protecting shampoo into my hair. It took longer to work the conditioner through my thick long locks. Looking at the red streaks, it might be time to touch them up. While the conditioner worked magic, I washed my bits and shaved anything that needed it.I st
He gave a quick bark of laughter. Then pulled me to him to kiss the top of my head. “You.”You? That’s all he’s going to say? I raised an eyebrow. Confusion had to be written on my face. Taking pity on me, he continued. “Beautiful, I told you.” He waved at his body. “This is all you. Your soul shaped my appearance, including, my scent.”I blinked. Furrowed my brow. How could I create this incredible man? “So my soul choose to make you smell like mulberry?”He nodded. “Do you have any special attachment to the scent?”I started to shake my head. But then, a memory floated from the all but forgotten side of my brain. “When I was a kid, my mom gave me some tins.”Thoughtfully I explained about those tins. They looked like old timey tins that goods would have been sold in. For the life of me I couldn’t remember what the pictures were. Just that they were metallic
