Bella's POV

We never made it to the tree line.

Three of Ronan's fighters rounded the east wall the instant we cleared the main gate, blocking our straight path to the trees, and the group jolted to a stop in the open compound — the building behind us shuddering with that subsonic failure sound, the threat ahead, and the math not in our favor.

Thor worked it out in under two seconds. I watched it happen.

"Back inside," he said. "Side tunnel. Jesse — where does the maintenance hatch come out rela

Bella's POVThe silver inside me detonated like a storm breaking loose. One moment I was standing there, trembling, watching Ronan press that blade dangerously close to Thor's throat. The next, my wolf took over entirely, but this time it felt right. No chaos, no fighting for control. Just clean, focused power surging through every muscle, every bone.I dropped to my knees as the shift tore through me, quick and seamless. Fur spread across my skin, gleaming silver beneath the haze of smoke. My senses sharpened instantly — I could hear every heartbeat scattered across the clearing, smell the fear tangled with sweat on Ronan's men.I came up on all fours, larger than I'd ever been, my paws making no sound against the dirt. A low growl built low in my throat. The world looked different now — edges sharper, every movement crystal clear. My wolf's voice merged with mine. Protect mate. End this."Bella?" Thor's voice rasped out weak and broken from where he sagged against the chains. His e

Bella's POVThe whispered words cut through me like a knife."Now she will choose me out of fear." Ronan's voice echoed in my skull, whether carried on the breeze or dragged toward me by my wolf's desperate pull, I couldn't say. I stood frozen on the hidden trail, chest heaving, the damp night air pressing against my skin. My hands balled into fists so tight my nails cut into my palms. No. Not Thor. Not this way.A wave of pain crashed into me without warning, sudden and overwhelming. It wasn't mine — it surged through the faint bond linking us, hot and searing, like flames licking across my ribs and shoulder.I gasped, staggering forward. My vision blurred for a moment. Blood. Chains. The taste of metal flooded my mouth even though nothing had touched me."Thor," I breathed, my voice cracking. My wolf rose up inside me with a force I hadn't felt before, no longer hesitant or unsteady. She roared, wild and furious, silver light pouring through my veins like molten current. It grounded

  • The Lycan King's Silver Mate   He's hurt

Bella's POVMy feet locked in place on the damp earth. The forest blurred around me for a moment as panic clawed up my throat."Thor?" I called again, my voice splintering like dry leaves crushed underfoot. He wasn't there. The space where his steady presence should have been felt hollow, cold. My wolf surged inside me, her silver energy twisting like a live wire.*Mate. Where is our mate?* She pushed hard against my ribs, frantic, flooding my senses with every scent around us — the sharp bite of blood, thick smoke drifting through the trees, and something darker underneath, like fear itself given shape."Bella, we have to keep moving," Jesse said, his hand landing on my shoulder. Firm but careful, his face streaked with dirt and a fresh cut across one cheek. He glanced back the way we'd come, eyes narrowing. "He'll find us. The King — Your Majesty is tough. Come on."I shook my head, pulling out of his grip. My heart slammed so hard it hurt. My mother stood close by, breathing ragged

  • The Lycan King's Silver Mate   Our Mate

Bella's POVMy heart pounded so hard it drowned out nearly everything else. Ronan's words hung there in the air like something toxic."Then I will take what you love most instead." His voice had dropped to something soft — too soft, the kind that made my wolf snarl beneath my skin. She pushed against me, restless and wild, silver energy flickering at the edges like it wanted to break loose but hadn't found the way yet.For a moment, nobody moved. Ronan's hand stayed on the weapon, though he'd stopped aiming it at my mother. He just watched her with those cold eyes. Then, slow as a shadow sliding into place, he raised his other hand and gave a quick two-finger signal.Everything broke loose at once.A rustle tore through the trees behind him — too many bodies to count. Hidden fighters poured into the clearing, snarls ripping the air apart. Fur rippled as some shifted halfway, claws catching the dim light. My breath caught in my throat. An ambush. He'd been waiting for this exact moment

  • The Lycan King's Silver Mate   My wolf screamed

Bella's POVNo one moved. The clearing held all of us in that particular suspended state of a moment that knows it's about to fracture and is simply waiting for someone to determine how. Ronan stood across the space with my mother and his weapon. His four fighters held their positions, watchful, taking direction from him. Our group waited at the tree line — eight guards, Corvin, Mira, Jesse, Thor, all of them reading the same layout I was reading and landing on the same uncomfortable conclusions.I studied Ronan's face. That was where my attention went while everyone else was measuring angles and positions. His face was the most crucial piece of information in that clearing, and I realized I had never truly looked at it before — not clearly. Not during our bonded years, when I'd been too young and too grateful for his attention to see past its surface, and not during our recent confrontations, when I'd been running or fighting or simply surviving. Now I looked. This wasn't the man I'd

"Behind the utility structure.""Forest cover from that exit?""Yes. Right there.""Then we cut back through and come out the west." He glanced at the three fighters blocking our route, who were holding position rather than advancing — which meant they'd been ordered not to engage until Ronan gave the word, which meant Ronan wanted us contained, not dead, which was the only edge we had. "Move. I'll cover the back."I pulled my arm tigh
