Chapter Four

TWO MONTHS LATER

Rosalie’S POV

For the past few days, I had not felt like myself.

At first, I tried to ignore it because I had been under too much stress lately, and after everything that had happened with Victor, I thought my body was simply reacting to the pain and exhaustion I had been carrying around for months.

But that morning, the strange feeling became impossible to ignore.

I had barely stepped out of my room when a sudden wave of nausea hit me so hard that I stopped in the middle of the hallway, covering my mouth as my stomach twisted painfully.

I hurried into the bathroom and barely made it to the sink before I started vomiting.

My body shook as I held onto the edge of the sink, trying to catch my breath when it finally stopped, but the sickness left me weak and dizzy.

I reached for the glass of water beside the sink, only to realize that someone was already standing beside me with a bowl filled with clean water.

“Thank you…”

I took it without looking at the person holding it, rinsed my mouth, and drank a little, still breathing heavily.

Then I slowly raised my head.

My entire body froze. Sebestian.

He stood there as calmly as if there was nothing strange about finding me sick in the bathroom, his expression unreadable as he watched me.

For two months, I had done everything possible to avoid him.

Whenever I heard his footsteps, I found somewhere else to go, and whenever I saw him in the house, I turned around before he could notice me.

I had spent two months trying to convince myself that what happened that night had been nothing more than a mistake caused by the fertility drug and my confusion.

I had tried not to remember his face, I had tried not to remember his voice.

Most of all, I had tried not to think about the fact that the man I had believed was Harrisonthat night had actually been Sebestian yet  here he was.

Standing in front of me.

“What are you doing here?”

His eyes remained on me.

“Is it bad to help someone who is sick?”

His voice was calm, almost careless, but I immediately looked away. “I don’t want anything to do with you.”

“That’s fine.” His answer came so easily that I frowned.

He did not argue with me or ask me to explain myself, and somehow that made me even more uncomfortable, he  looked at me for another moment before speaking again. “But you should see a doctor.”

I looked back at him. “Why?”

He did not answer immediately.

His eyes moved briefly over my face before lowering toward my stomach, and when he looked back at me, there was something I could not understand in his expression.

“You’ve been sick for days?”

I swallowed. “That doesn’t has anything to do with you, I said I’m fine.”

He studied me silently for a moment before saying, “Get yourself checked.”

I stared at him, confused by his sudden concern. “Why should you care?”

“I don’t.” His answer was cold and simple. “I’m only telling you what you should do.”

I wanted to argue with him, but before I could say anything, he stepped closer.

My body stiffened immediately.

He reached toward the back of my trousers.

I quickly stepped back, my heart jumping into my throat. “What are you—”

His hand came away holding something, my eyes widened, the  wristwatch, his  wristwatch.

For a moment, I could only stare at it.

I had completely forgotten that I still had it.

I had taken it that morning two months ago, after waking up alone, and somehow, through everything that had happened since then, I had kept carrying it around with me.

Sebestian held the watch between us, his eyes fixed on my face.

“Even after two months, you’re still carrying my watch.”

My lips parted, but no words came out, the room suddenly felt smaller, the  sound of my own heartbeat filled my ears and then the memory came rushing back.

That night, the blurred hallway, the  man I thought was Victor, the  warmth of his hands.

The sound of his voice when he warned me.

You don’t know what you are asking for.

My eyes slowly lifted to Sebestian’s face.

It had really been him.

All this time, I had been trying to forget that night, while the man who had been there with me had been standing in this same house.

Sebestian watched my expression change, but he did not ask what I was thinking.

He simply held the watch for another second before placing it back in my hand.m“Go for a checkup.”

Then he turned and walked away.I stood there without moving, I could not even bring myself to call him back.

My fingers tightened around the watch as I watched him disappear through the doorway, and only when he was gone did another thought slowly enter my mind.

My period. I had not seen it in a long time.

I frowned as I tried to remember exactly when it had last come.

One month, then  another.

My heart began beating faster. No!

I shook my head, that  could not be the reason.

There had to be another explanation.

Stress.Everything I had been going through, anything but that.

Then another memory struck me.

Victor, he  had not touched me in almost a year, nor once.

My face slowly went pale.

I looked down at my stomach, and my hand moved there without me even realizing it.

My fingers trembled against my clothes. “No…”

The word came out as barely a whisper.

I took a shaky breath, trying to push the thought away, but the more I tried, the more impossible it became.

The nausea, the  missed period, the  fertility drug, the  night.

My eyes widened as the truth began to form in my mind.

What if Sebestian was right?

What if I really was pregnant?

My hand pressed more firmly against my stomach as fear spread through me.

And if I was… Then Harrisonwasn’t the father.
