Chapter 2

Rex POV:

"So what are we going to be doing today?" Alex, my beta, and one of my best friends said to me sitting down in front of my desk.

"I don't know, I'll probably train the warriors and have Kevin train the teens," I say, putting down the paperwork that I was currently looking at, down on the desk. I don't really have anything planned other than training the warriors. Because we are a rogue pack, we get attacked more in a month than most packs do in a year, so I have all the pack warriors train a couple of times a week because you never know when we will be attacked.

I get up and grab my phone and put it in my back pocket, then I walk to the door to my office and open it, I hold it open knowing that Alex will follow me out and that's exactly what he does.

"So, I'm going to train the warriors, what are you going to be doing?" I ask walking down to my room to change into some workout clothes.

"I'll probably go and hang out with Becca," Alex says looking up from his phone, Becca is Alex's mate. They met when we were 19, she was a part of a pack whose territory we're passing by. Her family gave her a choice to either reject him or they would disown her and she would be a rogue.

"Sounds nice, how has she been, she's been sleeping alright?" I ask opening the door to my room and go to my closet to find some workout clothes.

"She's fine, just having really weird food cravings. If anything I'm the one that is barely getting sleep, she's waking me up asking her to get her some food" He says sitting on my bed waiting for me to finish.

"Well, you do know that she is pregnant?" I ask to walk out already and dress in my workout clothes. He just sighs and nods his head and follows me outside. We have some small talk as we walk outside. When we get outside I see all the warriors waiting around on half of the training field that we have, and on the other side, I see Kevin talking to the teens.

"Ok, everyone lineup" I yell to the warriors letting them know that training is about to begin. Everyone lines up, some stand with their arms behind their backs.

"New guys," I think, I look from the new warriors to the more seasoned ones, they are just standing there looking at me and waiting for their orders.

"Today you're going to start to run laps around the board of the trees" I yell so that the ones in the back can hear me. They all nod and start to run, I watch them until they run to the other side of the packhouse. Once they finish their laps they stop back in the spots that they started in. Some collapse on the ground and others are just standing there, warrior training is much tougher than when they were teens, it's like this because the first line of defense is the warriors, the teens wouldn't really be needed unless there was a dire situation.

"So now I'll just have you spar with each other, so pair up and start the sparring," I say after giving them a little break so that they could catch their breaths and get some water.

"Alpha I've just gotten word that a pack is abusing some of their members" Micca, one of my scouts tells me after he walks into my office.

"Where is it?" I ask putting down the papers that I was working on and give him my full attention.

"Just south of us, they are only a day's run away, Alpha," he says standing there by the door. I nod my head and think of what to do.

"Well, we can't just let them keep doing this, so gather up the warriors and tell them about the pack, we leave at nightfall, and I want to be there once the sun is up," I say once I know what to do. Micca nods his head and turns and leaves through the door that he came in. I take out my phone and send a text to Kevin and Alex, telling them to come to my office so that I can tell them about the pack and the plan.

The sun started to set and I started to walk down so that I could go outside and prepare everyone for the run. After I told Alex and Kevin about the pack that we would be attacking they have been getting everything and everyone involved ready. Once outside I get everyone's attention and they come over to me so that I can say a little speech, which has become kind of a tradition in the pack.

"So as you know, we are going to be attacking a pack that is a day's run away from here. I have gotten word from one of my scouts that they are mistreating members of their pack. And that is something that goes against the principles of this pack, and we don't let that slide. So we are going to go and show them how to actually treat pack members, and maybe pick up a few new pack members along the way." I say looking at each and every one of the members of my pack. After I finish my speech they all start to cheer and holler letting me know that they liked and agreed with what I said. I get down from the step that I was standing on and start to undress letting all the warriors and anyone else that was there that it was time to go.

We have been running for almost a day now, and the sun was starting to rise, and from what Micca has told me, we are almost there, and after running for a couple of minutes longer, I can start to see the border. I stop, just far enough so that we can see the border and so they don't smell or realize that we are here, and let my warriors catch their breath so that they are all ready to fight. After a minute or so of waiting all the warriors stand up and get into positions letting me know that they are ready to attack. I get up and stand in front of a group of warriors while Kevin and Alex stand in front of their groups. I look behind me and then look back forward and look towards the border and after looking at it for some time, I notice that my wolf is stirring in my head.

"What's wrong, we are about to fight?" I ask before I give the go-ahead, cause if my wolf's head is not in the game then I'm not at my full strength.

"Something good is going to come out of this" Shadow, my wolf, replies back to me, with a wolfish smile on his face. I'm confused and caught off guard by this, but I don't have time to think about it, we have to start the attack, and if he says that something good is going to come out of this then all the more to get this attack started and find out what is going to happen.

I pick my head up and look at the border to this pack and before I even give the ready to attack a thought comes to my mind, what even is the name of this pack? I want to know because then we can write it down and know that we have to continue checking up on this pack after the attack to know if they go back to their ways before the attack or if they learn from their ways and turn over a new leaf. Some do change their ways and, sadly, some don't, but all we do is attack them again until they learn and change, or until they are no longer a pack anymore.

"So Micca, what is this pack's name, so we can write it down for the rest of the scouts?" I ask, looking over my shoulder at him.

"The Moonlight Pack, alpha" Micca replies, and I nod my head letting him know that I heard him. Once I look back I start to walk towards the border and I can feel everyone following behind me. Once I get a little closer, but still far back so that they can't tell that we are here. After looking around I saw that there were no guards patrolling around this early in the morning. I nod to everyone that it was time to attack, and we all started running to the buildings that were around us. Some of my members made it to the closer buildings, they ran out of the building, some fighting other wolves, but that didn't last long before they killed them. When they were done they came up behind me and we continued running. Once we heard the siren go off we stopped running and waited for the warriors to come out of the houses, and other buildings.

"Gosh, if I had to guess they aren't really that well guarded," One of my pack warriors says through the pack link.

"Yeah, and that's kind of weird, even the most feared packs have tons of warriors on standby in case of an attack on them" Kevin says, both of them are right. It is very weird that this pack doesn't have any warriors to protect the pack. After some time, we hear howls and the stomping of feet running our way.

"Get ready everyone, they're coming," I say through the pack link, and I see all members of my pack get into a fighting stance, ready for what's to come. We see the first warrior come running around the corner, then all the others come running out behind them, and then some run out from the other buildings. I howled letting my warriors know that it was time to attack, and time for the fight to begin.

We have been fighting this pack for some time now and I can tell that we are winning. I run around, fighting some of the warriors from the pack and making sure that everything is going according to plan.

I look and see tons of dead warriors from the other pack. I run around some more and I see some of my warriors with injuries and some without. I see Alex fighting with another wolf and I see another sneaking up behind him, I growl and run over to them and jump on the wolves back before they can do the same to Alex. I grab onto his neck and shake my head letting go when I hear the stratifying crack that comes with me snapping his neck.

I run around more looking for this pack alpha, when I feel Shadow start to stir in the back of my mind, I stop running and wonder why he is stirring around when I catch this amazing scent, I look up and meet the most mesmerizing forest green eyes that I have ever seen.

"Mate" Shadow screams in my head, and I just want to run up to him, take him home and protect him, for the rest of my life. I started to take a step towards him and I saw a fear flash in his eyes.

"Is that because of me?" I thought but then I saw that he wasn't looking at me and was looking behind me. I turn around and look over my shoulder to see this packs' alpha, I growl once I realize that he is the cause of the fear in my mates' eyes. I look back and I see that my mate has run away, I growl.

"Someone go after that wolf, he's your future Luna" I yell through the pack link and I see some of my warriors run into the woods after my mate.

"Don't scare him just stay far enough back that he doesn't see you" I say once I realize that they might scare him.

"Yes Alpha" They reply back and I turn around to look at the worthless alpha. My anger spikes when the image of the scared face of my mate pops into my head. I get even angrier wondering just what this alpha has done to my precious mate. I run up to him and tackle him to the ground and get on top of him. He fights back and grabs onto my leg and pulls on it trying to get me off. I grab onto his neck and start thrashing around, and before I could have done anything I was tackled to the ground. I got up and I took a look at the person that dared to stop me from killing the one that hurt my mate. When I look up I see a wolf that is big.

"This must be this worthless alphas son," I think to myself studying the wolf as he walks over to his father and helps him up.

"If this is his son then he might have also hurt our mate, now that I'm at it, the whole pack might have hurt him," Shadow says, and this causes my anger to spike up at the whole entire pack.

"Everyone, burn this place to the ground, they might have hurt your future Luna," I say through the pack link and I can tell that the pack is also angry at this because I could hear every one of my pack members growl. I see some of the buildings go up in flames and I notice the alpha and his son look back at the burning buildings, this is where I take the moment to make my move. I run up to them and run swipe at the son and grab the alpha by the neck and start to shake my head, I don't want to give him a painless death so I shake his neck and bite down as painful as I can, I want him to feel the pain that he put my mate through.

I can see his son start to get up, shaking off the deep scratch that I gave to him not moments earlier. I also see Micca running up behind him and I smile while still having his father in my mouth. Micca jumps on his back and starts to fight him so that I can fight the alpha. While I was looking at his son the alpha tried to get out of my jaws by swiping at my face and at my front legs, but I just bit down harder and started to shake my head even more. When I thought that he had enough I let go of him and pinned him on his back. He tried to grab my neck but I didn't let him. I growled and lunged forward and ripped out his throat and let him lay there bleeding. Once I saw the life leave his eyes I howled letting everyone know that I have killed the alpha of this pack. The now-dead alphas' son got up and out of Miccas' grasp looked at me rather than the dead body of his father. He raised his head and let out a howl, and every one of his pack members that were left alive turned and ran into the woods in the opposite direction that my mate went in. Once I noticed that all of their pack was gone I let out a howl letting them know that we had won the fight and that it was time to go home.

Once we get back to where the pack is I let out a howl letting them all know that we have returned. We all shift back into our human forms and some pack members run up to us and give us some shorts to put on. I walk up to the step that leads into my house and I turn around and see all the members running to their significant others and checking if they are ok. I smile once I realize that that will be me in a couple of days once I get my mate back with me.

"Alpha, we are just letting you know that the future Luna is at the stream that leads to the pack and that he should be there in a couple of days, we are going to stay behind him to make sure that he gets to the pack and to you safely" I hear one of my pack warriors that ran after my mate say through the link. I smile once knowing that I'll have my mates in my arms sooner than I thought and all I have to do is wait for my mate by the river.

"I can't wait to see him and have him under me," Shadow says into my head and starts to put images in my head of our little mate.

"Hey, stop that, you little horn dog, we have to wait for him to come to us before we can even think about that stuff. And we won't be doing anything until he says that he's ready, right?" I say back to Shadow and he nods back to me and disappears to the back of my mind.

Don't think you can stay away for long, I'll have you in my arms soon enough little mate, just you wait and see. And I'm not going to let you go, I'll love and protect you for as long as I live and never let you go. I follow you no matter where you go.
