Chapter 6

Rain POV:

"So how was it?" Owen asks, sitting down next to me on the couch, with a bowl of fruit.

"What is he talking about?" I think to myself and look at him confused, but when he points to where his shoulder and neck meet and I see his mate mark, I understand what he is talking about.

"It was good, he was sweet and gentle," I say looking down and feeling my cheeks get hotter, and I know that I am blushing.

"Really? Rex, sweet and gentle? I never would've thought that he could be like that" he says with a look of surprise on his face and pops a fruit in his mouth.

"Well, I hope he will be, it was my first time?" I say with a smile and a blush finding my way onto my face, because I start to remember the events of that night and because I am talking about something so intimate with someone other than Whisper.

"Oh, well then with that I would hope to, and if he wasn't I would hurt him for hurting you," Owen says, I stare at him wide eyed, for Rex's own safety I'm glad that he was gentle with me. I rub the back of my head and let out a stiff laugh and look around the room trying to find a way to change the subject.

"Well, what are you guys doing today?" Becca asks when she comes into the living room, I let out a sigh of relief, when she sits down looking between us, finally finding a change of subject.

"Well, we were just talking about how the Alpha was sweet and gentle, and completely not what I expected him to be?" Owen says before I can say anything, and I let out an internal groan when the conversation wasn't changed and at my missed opportunity to change it.

"What are you talking about? Becca asks a confused look on her face, and from the corner of my eye, I can see a wide smirk appear on Owens's face, as he tells Becca how Rex and I finally mated.

"OH, MY GODDESS, REALLY?" Becca screams loud causing me and Owen to cover our ears. Becca quickly stands up and runs over to me and pulls me into a hug. When she pulls away she grabs my chin and turns my head to the side to see my mate mark.

"Wow, you guys really did it," Becca says surprised, letting go of my face, and I nod my head with a smile on my face. She hugs me again and then goes back to sit down on the couch, where she was originally sitting, putting her hand on her barely showing bump.

"So, now that we have that out of the way, what do you guys want to do today?" Becca asks, looking between us.

"I don't know, we could watch a movie" I suggest and look at them, they look at each other and smile and nod causing me to smile as well. I am so happy that I have met them and everyone here. I was telling the truth when I told Rex that I never thought that I was going to be here and that this was all a dream that I thought I was never going to have, and it was just going to be a dream. But then Rex came into my life and made that dream a reality.

"Well, what movie are we going to watch?" Owen asks, and we all suddenly burst out laughing.

I wake up to see the credits playing and the sun has set. I look around the room and notice that both Owen and Becca are still asleep.

"We must have fallen asleep at some point," I thought to myself, grabbing the remote and turning off the tv. I get up to close the curtains when I notice a glowing set of eyes looking into the house and staring back at me. I don't know who it is, and I can't see them that well, because they are far away and on the border of the forest, but what I do know is that they are not from the pack. I start to shake when the thought that someone from my old pack has found me and has come to take me back.

"Baby, where are you?" I hear Rex ask through the link that we got when we mated.

"Rex," I say back, panicking in my voice when I see the wolf take a step closer to the house.

"Baby, is everything ok, what's wrong?" Rex frantically asks through the link, I don't answer back when they see the wolf get ever closer, I turn around and run over to where Becca and Owen are sleeping and shake them away looking back at the window making sure the wolf isn't too close.

"Rain? What is it?" Owen asks, rubbing his eyes looking at me.

"There...there's..." I stutter, trying to tell them, pointing at the window, too scared to talk. He looks at me confused and looks to where I am pointing, and I see Becca also look.

"What, there's nothing there?" Becca says, looking back at me and standing, going to walk over to the window to look out.

"No!" I scream and grab her before she can get too close, scared of what or who is out there.

"Okay, it's okay," Becca says, wrapping me up into a hug, but that does nothing to stop my shaking. We all turn towards the window and yelp when we see a big wolf staring back at us, its eyes staring at me, eyes never leaving me. We stand there looking at the wolf and the wolf looking back at us before someone grabs my arm and pulls me towards the stairs.

"Run" Owen yells and pulls me with Becca hot on our heels. Once we get to the top of the stairs we hear a crash of glass breaking, telling us that the wolf is now in the house.

"Shit," Becca says, looking around the floor.

"Over here," she says pointing in a direction and we all run towards the door that she is pointing to and once we enter the room I notice that it is the Rex and my room.

"Help me barricade the door," Owen says, grabbing items and quickly bringing them to the door, putting them in front of them. We all push the dresser in front of the door and then the bed just to be safe. We run to the farthest corner of the room and huddle together, we sit there for what feels like hours before we hear a bang on the door, and a growl being let out before the bang happens again.

"Rex?" I say with a shaky voice, through the mate link that we share, I start to get worried when he doesn't answer right away.

"Baby! What's wrong, where are you?" Rex yells back with a worried voice.

"I'm at the house with Becca and Owen, there's a wolf here, they aren't from the pack, and they broke into the house and are trying to break into the room we are in. Please hurry" I quickly say through the link, the banging still happening.

"Ok we're on our way," Rex says quickly through the link.

"The boys will be here soon" I whisper to them, my voice still shaking. They both look at me and nod, Becca, starts to rub her stomach. I grab hold of the hand not on her stomach and grab one on Owens's hand, and try to calm them down, even though I am freaking out on the inside, the banging on the other side of the door not letting up. We all let out a sigh of relief when the banging stops, thinking that the boys had finally arrived, but the moment is short lived when the wolf bangs on the door again, causing us to jump, and we start to freak out more when the door starts to splinter and break from the constant banging that the wolf is doing.

With every bang from the wolf, the door was splintering more and more, and the dresser was being pushed farther and farther from the door. If someone didn't get here soon the wolf was going to get in.

With that thought I started to mentally prepare myself to fight this wolf. I must protect my friends and make sure nothing happens to them. Becca is pregnant and can't fight, and Owen is a human and won't be able to fight this wolf. I take a step closer to the door, so I am in front of them when I see the door close to breaking down and the wolf finally making their entrance into the room.

With one final blow the down breaks down and the dresser falls over, the wolf walks in and towards us, I let out a growl, but it isn't that intimidating, and I can tell that the wolf tries to smirk. The wolf makes its way towards us, and I let out another growl that has no effect on the wolf, and they keep on stalking towards us, I get into a position ready to pounce into action and protect my friends. But before the wolf can get any closer, they are tackled by a big black wolf, that I instantly know to be Rex.

We are all still, stunned by what is happening, the rogue pushes Rex off him with his hind legs, and Rex is stunned for a little before he composes himself and gets into a defensive position, waiting to see what the rogue will do. I feel a tug on my shoulder and turn around to see both of my friends looking at me and then at the wolves. I turn back to them and see them looking at each other waiting for the other to strike first. I take this moment to go, so if a fight between them does break out we aren't caught in the middle, and so Rex doesn't need to worry about us being there.

I grab onto Owen and Becca's wrists and lead them slowly but quickly towards the broken-down door, and I don't stop, or even turn around when I hear a growl, that is then answered with an even louder one. I only stop when we are out the front door, and I see Alex and Dennis running towards us.

"Are you all okay?" Alex asks pulling Becca into his arms and checking her to make sure that there are no physical marks on her body, I turn and see Dennis doing the same to Owen.

"We're fine, Rex thankfully came at the right time," I say turning around when I hear crashing coming from inside the house, and hug myself, with worry for my mate.

"Are they still in there?" I hear Dennis ask from behind me and all I can do is nod at his question while staring intently at the house, waiting, waiting for my mate to come outside and back into my arms.

"Don't worry, he is a strong wolf, and can handle his own, that rogue is no match for him" Alex says walking up next to me and putting a hand on my shoulder, drawing my attention from the house and to him and Becca, who is clinging onto his arm.

"See I told you he would be fine," Alex says, causing me to turn back towards the house, and see my mate standing there, and just by him standing there causes me to release a breath of air that I didn't know I was holding. After staring at him I notice the big and small gashes, on his arms and torso. I feel a nudge on my shoulder and look to see Owen with Dennis hanging on his arm, behind me and when he sees me looking at him, he smiles and nods his head towards my mate, in a silent go to him, and I don't need to be told twice. I sprint towards my mate, and he walks to the edge of the porch and down the stairs, and I jump on him, and he catches me like he knew I was going to jump at him and lets out a small groan. After we stand there hugging, with him holding me, I finally remember all the wounds that he received from the rouge, and that thought then causes me to also remember the rouge. I pull away and look at him, and as if knowing my question, he nods his head and pulls my head back down and into the crook of his neck with one of his arms.

"It's okay, I'm fine, and the rogue is taken care of," Rex says leaning down and hugging me closer to him if that is even possible with how tight I am hugging him already. All I do is nod my head, and relish in this moment, my mate is fine, everyone is fine, and the rogue is no longer a problem.

After some time, I pull away and tap on Rex's arm telling him that it's okay to let me down, and thankfully he does without much resistance, though he still has his arm wrapped around my waist and me pulled secured to his side. I turn around and look at both my friends and their mates and I can still see a hint of fear in their eyes. Becca and Owen, from the rogue attacking and breaking into the house, Alex, and Dennis from almost losing their mates.

"Are you all okay?" I finally ask them, looking between them, and they both look at me and nod their heads with a smile, and I can see that they are okay with their mates by their side. We say our goodnights and Rex tells Dennis and Alex something before they nod and come over to us to collect their mates and make their way back to their respective houses.

"Rex, what are we supposed to do about the house?" I ask turning and look up at him and see that he is already looking at me, this causes me to blush and look down towards the ground.

"For tonight we will stay in the pack house, and then tomorrow, we will find a new home for us to live in," Rex replies to me, and we start to walk towards the pack house for the night.

"New home? Why the one we have is just fine" I say looking out in front of us so I don't trip and fall, even though I wouldn't because of Rex's grip on my waist. This causes Rex to stop us in our tracks and he turns to me and grabs my cheeks.

"Honey, you were attacked by a rogue in that house, there is no way I am going to let you sleep in the house for another moment," Rex says, causing me to hold my breath for a moment. Sometimes moments like this cause me to ask the moon goddess what I did to deserve a mate like this.

"Thank you" is all I say before I pull Rex down by his neck and kiss him. He pulls away with a smile and we turn to continue our walk to the pack house, with smiles on our faces.

It isn't long before the pack house comes into view, and we see some pack members standing outside and some have worried looks on their faces.

"I was at the pack house when you linked me to the rogue. They probably knew something was wrong with you because we bolted out of there and didn't tell anyone what was happening," Rex says, probably seeing the confused look on my face. I nod and smile at all my pack mates, relishing in the warmth that I feel when Rex told me that they worried about me when my old pack mates didn't care at all that happened to me or any other omegas that happened to come into the pack.

"Luna! Are you okay?" I hear some pack members ask as we walk up to them. Some come up to me and check if I am alright and let out a sigh of relief when I show them that I am. We stood there in a group asking what happened and when we told them that a rogue got into the house and tried to attack us, there were whispers on how a rogue had gotten past the border without anyone knowing. This was something that I didn't really think about, and I didn't want to bring it up to Rex because I already know that he is already thinking this, and what it might entail about some of the members of the pack.

After talking to a few of my pack members and reassuring others that I am indeed fine and that the rouge has been taken care of everyone disperses and Rex leads me into the pack house and up the starts to what I am assuming is the bedroom corridors, but after passing many rooms and going up many stairs we stop at the one at the very top.

"This is the Alphas room, it's where I sometimes stayed when I didn't want to go home," Rex says, opening the door and standing back so I can enter first and look at the room. The room is dark, with back curtains and black sheets on a king size bed, there are side tables on either side of the bed and on one side of the room there is a desk, with some papers that probably aren't important laying on them, and on the other is two doors, one probably leads to a bathroom and the other is probably a closet.

"It's nice, exactly what I would expect from you," I say, turning around and bumping into his chest because of how close he is to me. I smile and lift my arms to wrap them around his neck.

"What is that supposed to mean?" He asks with a small smile playing on his lips and wrapping his arms around my waist.

"That you are dark and mysterious," I say my smile getting even wider when he chuckles and picks me up causing me to wrap my legs around his waist, and he draws his lips closer to mine for a heated kiss and starts to walk to what I am assuming is the bed.

You may be dark and mysterious now, but I like a challenge.
