Chapter 7

Rex POV:

I wake up in a room that I haven't slept in in months, when the realization of where I am hits me, I panic a little and think that the last couple of months was just a dream and freeze when I feel something that feels like a body attached to my side. But I am relieved when I look down to see my beautiful mate Rain, laying down on my chest, and being as beautiful as ever. While looking at him I remember all the events last night and the fear that I had that I may lose the mate that I had finally gotten after all those years of searching.

I lay there with Rain laying on me for a few more minutes, before I link my beta, delta, and chief warrior, so we can talk about how the rogue somehow made it past the warriors and onto pack land. I feel movement above me and I know that Rain is waking up, I smile and look down at him and wonder what I did to get such a beautiful mate.

"Good morning" Rain says and I am pulled out of my thoughts about my beautiful mate, by my beautiful mate himself.

"Good morning" I say and lean down to give him a kiss, one in which he returns full heartedly. I deepen the kiss and smile when I get Rain to let out a groan. I turn so I am on top of Rain and let my hand travel down his body, but before anything can get even more heated, I hear my phone start to ring.

"Damn it" I say and lean over to look at my phone that is on the bedside table and see that it is Alex calling me. I let out a groan and lean down, I hear Rain let out a laugh and I roll from off of him. Rain gets up and walks into the bathroom. I let out a sigh before I got up and walked to the bathroom behind him.

When I walk in, I see him brushing his teeth and looking in all the cabinets for some stuff that I am assuming to be able to take a shower. I walk up behind him and put my arms around him and hum when he leans back into me, and I put my face in the crook of his neck and breathe in his amazing scent.

"I probably have some clothes that might fit you here. After this meeting that I have, we can go to the house and get everything and bring it back here while we look for a new place to live." I say looking up and meeting his eyes in the mirror. He nods and lets out a hum, and I pull him in even closer.

"Ok, I'll probably have Becca and Owen come over and keep me company, and maybe even help us." Rain says, grabbing my arms and rubbing his hands up and down my arms that are holding him.

"I'll bring Alex and Dennis over after then, they can help also" I say letting him go and walking to a cabinet that he didn't open and pulling out some towels and setting them down on the counter. I grab Rain's hand and pull him towards the shower and turn the water on. While we wait for the water to warm up and pull him back into me and start to help him get undressed, he helps me get undressed also. During the whole process we don't say a word to each other and it is a comfortable silence. I feel the water and when I feel that it is warm enough for my baby, I grab his hand and pull him into the shower with me. Without any complaint from him, I can hear the faint sound of my phone ringing in the room where I left it.

"You are the best thing to ever happen to me" Rain suddenly says and a smile finds its way onto my face, and I pull him into a heated kiss, and make a quick shower last even longer.

By the time I walk into my office, it is already almost the afternoon. I can tell by the faces that they know why I am late.

"Sorry for being late, I was busy," I say, going down behind my desk and sitting down.

"Oh, we know, busy with rain" Alex says and everyone in the room lets out small chuckles, including me, because we all know that it is true. I let us have this before we get to the matter at hand.

"Ok, time to get down to business," I say looking at everyone in the room and getting serious, I can tell that everyone else gets the message with the looks on their faces and their straight postures.

"How did a rogue get past the warriors at the border, and close enough to get into my house." I say looking at each and every person in my office right now.

"There was a shift change when the rogue got in and got past. They didn't notice that anyone got in until they were too far away, but they were tracking them." Ben, my chief warrior, said when I looked at him. Shift change happens at the same time every day, we knew it was going to be a problem the more packs we take down, and it has finally come to bite us when we didn't take care of it when we first noticed it was going to be a problem.

"Yet they didn't tell anyone when they noticed that someone was in" I say, folding my hands, my anger rising when I think what could have happened if I didn't make it in time.

"No, they did not and I will be punishing them for that," Ben says to me and I know that he will and that they will be learning their lesson and that everyone around will know to be careful and be aware so this doesn't happen again.

"Good, I want more training and to make sure the shift changes are not at the same time, we were able to get away with it until now, but have to take care of it right now." I say, and Ben nods, and I dismiss him to go and take care of all that. Leaving Alex, Dennis, and me alone in my office to talk about the next matter on business.

"Rain wanted me to ask you both if you would come and help us move our stuff from the house into the Alphas suite" I say, after some time, they both look at me and nod letting me know that they will be there to help.

"So, you're really moving into the suite?" Dennis asks me, and I nod my head telling them my reasoning, because I know that they would both agree if they were in my shoes, and as I guessed they do. We sit in silence for a couple of minutes, because I know that no one wants to really say the one thing that we are really here for to talk about, because that would make what needs to be said a reality and something really bad if it turns out to be true.

"It couldn't have been some random rouge, could it?" Dennis asks, looking between Alex and me finally getting the courage to break the silence, after a couple seconds of silence I look at him and then at Alex and I see that he is doing the same. Knowing that we are all thinking the same thing, that the rouge was sent from someone for something, or someone. Also that the reality has finally set in and that we can't put this off any longer for the safety of our pack and our mates.

"Yeah, but the question is, was it a rogue from a pack that we took down or did someone send him to the pack for something?" Alex asks, confirming my thoughts and I let out a sigh because this is causing a big pile of trouble that I hope we are able to handle. Now all we need to do is figure out who and why they attacked us and went after my mate in my own home.

"I asked Becca last night what had happened, and she said that they were sleeping and Rain woke them up saying that there was a wolf outside. But when she went to go and check, Rain didn't want her to go near the window, but from what she could see, before he stopped her, there wasn't anything outside. Also, when she looked back there it was staring at Rain, it didn't really make a move until they ran away." Alex told me all that had happened and I could see Dennis nodding his head from the corner of my eye telling me that Owen had said the same thing.

"Wait, they said the rogue was looking at Rain and not at them?" I ask after the information that I had gotten had sunk in. If the rogue was looking at rain, then this was going to be worse than what I thought it was.

"I said the same thing, and Owen was very certain that the rogue was looking at Rain and not them." Dennis said, and when I looked at him, I could see the anger that he held in them that Luna's life was being threatened.

"I want to know where this rogue came from and who, if any, sent him" I said with authority and both Alex and Dennis nodded their heads standing up and walking out the door. I let out a sigh, looking out the window, and thinking back to this morning and all the anger that has just built up with the new information that Rain might be the target and that my baby is in trouble. I look away from the window and back to my desk getting to work, pushing everything that I can to the back burner, because right now the safety of my pack and mate are my top priority right now. And I need to find out who it is that is after him, and put an end to them, no matter what it takes and whoever it is that I have to take out.

When I look out the window again, I see that the sun is about to set and I know that it is time to go home. As much as I want to get this all handled today, I know that I can't, because I don't have enough information to get anywhere. But I close my laptop and get up grabbing all of my stuff to leave the office and make my way back to the alpha suite where I left my baby this morning.

When I get to the door, I can hear some giggles coming from the other side, and I smile when I know that it is my beautiful mate that the giggles belong to. Opening the door, I see the one letting out the giggles himself, sitting with Becca and Owen on the bed watching TV. I sigh at the sight and am happy that the attack yesterday isn't affecting him. I walk over to the group on the bed and make my presence known to them and grab my bay and give him a kiss.

"Hello, how has your day been?" I ask him after giving him a kiss.

"It was good, we just watched movies and talked all day, how was your day?" Rain answers and asks me, then gives me a kiss before I can give him my answer. We pull away when we hear some giggles happen not that far from us. When we pull away, we turn and see both of his friends staring at us with their hands over their mouths. Rain hides his face in my chest and I can tell that his face is red from embarrassment.

"Alex said that he and Dennis are at the house if you want to go there now, or we could head there and wait for you guys to be finished?" Becca says after she and Owen get out of bed and start to walk towards the door.

"We can go now, now is a good time" Rain quickly says, flinging himself out of my arms and out of bed. This causes all of us to start to laugh, no matter how many times we do this he will always get embarrassed by it. I walk out of the room following them, ready to move out of that house and find a new one for my mate to live in. A place where we can start and raise our family.

"Yes, let go, the faster we move the faster we can get settled down and do something else." I say grabbing Rain by the waist and pulling him into my side with a smirk on my face. When I look down at him, I can see that the blush on his face has traveled all the way to the tips of his ears, and when he sees that I am looking at him he turns his head to hide in my chest. I slow our pace at this so he doesn't fall down, and I can hear Becca and Owen laughing even more from in front of us.

"I love you" I say down to him and he lets out a squeak and I am stunned a little at that not knowing what happened.

"I love you too" Rain says, pulling away from my chest and looking up at me, I smile down at him and pull him up and lean down to give him a kiss on the lips. When we pull away, I see the smile that I love so much on his face and I am glad that I was the one that put it there. With a smile of my own I turn back to look where we are going and we go off to our old house so we can start the move.

I will do whatever it takes to make sure that smile never leaves your face.
