It wasn't that Max didn't think about becoming a reliable son-in-law in Mr. James's eyes. However, over the past four years, even getting a private meeting with his father-in-law had been tough, let alone gaining his trust.

Aside from the project to build a shopping center on the outskirts of the city, Max hadn't undertaken any large projects before this. But how could he make James truly trust in his abilities? It wasn't that he didn't try; Max often felt that no matter how much effort he put in, into Mr. James, Max was merely an accessory to his daughter.

Max was sick of having to bow to his father-in-law's whims, he hated the feeling of having to submit to someone.
