The whole day went by and Kathleen spent most of it cleaning the apartment and the kitchen. When she was finally done, she got to know that there were no groceries.
“OH!” she let out a weary sigh and shook her head, “What am I doing with my life? Why am I forced to stay in this marriage when I am the one getting the most pain out of it?” her dry lips uttered while she looked around for a sweater to subside the effects of the cold.
“Really?” rolling her eyes, she stared at the bedroom door where all of her luggage was. She did not want to go and wake up that raging bull. Giving up on the idea of keeping her body warm, she left the apartment in the loose pants and a loose shirt to go and talk to the driver.
“Just great!” Kathleen was on the verge of cursing loudly in the middle of the parking lot. The driver wasn’t around, she climbed all the way down to the disappointment of the news that he wasn’t even here.
Walking back upstairs was the most tiring thing ever, she was extremely pregnant and these were the errands she was running.
Once she was inside the apartment again, she found something different. Ryker was awake and roaming in the living room agitating. By the look of his face, she could tell he was irritated with something.
“Where were you?” his eyes picked up her sight and the sudden change of expressions worried Kathleen. His eyes were still drowsy like he was still sleepy, the black shirt he was wearing on the shorts seemed wrinkled too.
“I went downstairs to see if the driver was available,” Kathleen responded, chalking his anger up to him being worried for his unborn baby.
“Available for what?” He placed his hands on the hips and bobbed his head like he knew the answer in advance. The taunting tone of his and his aggressive manner of scoffing was enough to question his intentions. It was saddening that he thought so low of her, even when he should have known Kathleen was not like that.
“For groceries Ryker,” she fought hard to not let a single tear to be formed in her eyes. She had shown him enough weakness in the past, which he took quite an advantage of.
“Oh! Are you sure that’s it?” His smirk said it all, until now, she thought he was just trying to piss her off with those nasty comments about her character, but the genuine frustration on his face was a piece of evidence that he thought of her a sl**.
“I am not bound to answer you.” She tried to walk past him, but he suddenly grasped he wrist and pulled her back. If he hadn’t held her by her arms, She would have tripped and hurt herself and her unborn baby.
“ARE YOU F***** SER---,” the anger spewing inside her came out in screams but only to be hushed down by Ryker shushing her and glaring her in the eye.
“Don’t raise your voice at me, you little wh***.” The words from his lips quivered her body in surprise, sudden appearance of tears also came visible. That was expected from him, but then why did those words hurt so bad?
“Ryker, you are hurting me!” her lips quivered when she decided not to show him weakness, but can you imagine being accused of it so many times?
“Don’t you like it rough?” the smirk formed on his lips made her gasp and a cold chill ran up her spine. It was disgusting that he was the one who would crash inside her room every night, he was the one who kept expressing his love for her and now he was done, just like that? He made all those promises that he couldn’t keep and when she got pregnant, he threatened her until she married him just so that he could remind her every second of her life that she is nothing but a piece of trash.
“This pregnancy must be a burden on you since you can’t sleep with every single man you see insight,” his eyes were dripping repugnance, her heart skipped a beat when he kept going on and on, and all this time, his grip over her arm only tightened, “Let’s get you some men, you can please them in million different ways you know?” that was it, he had crossed all the limits. He had no right to sl** shame her like that.
Kathleen jerked her arm free of his grasp and before he could retort, she raised her hand and slammed him right across his cheek. He didn’t budge but her nail scratched his cheek. He was frozen for a moment before his brain picked up what happened. The widening of his eyes when he gently touched his cheek and felt the blood with his fingers frightened her into taking a step back from him.
“So, it’s going to be that kind of a relationship,” it felt like her action had given him some sort of permission. She was making sure She keeps her eyes on him but the moment he lunged at her, she froze and only shrunken into her arms.
His hands grasped her hair and he pulled her face up, forcing her to look him in the eye, “Ryker, please don’t hurt me. I am preg--,” She wanted to beg but he bent down and whispered in her ear.
“I will make your life a living hell, you will die to have a glimpse of your baby. But I will make sure you get what you like, countless men coming in and out of your room so that you can stay happy.” As he whispered, he lifted his face, and then he did the unthinkable.
He spat in my feet, “This is your value, nothing more than a spit.”
His action was so abrupt and confusing that she couldn’t even respond properly. She was able to get him off her by putting her hands on his chest and pushing him away. Before he could retreat, she booked it to the terrace, where they once used to work out.
Once She was on the other side, she slammed the door close and locked it from the outside. He had a lock outside the glass door because when they used to work out there, sometimes Scarlet or someone else to barge in, so he had a lock.
He tried to open the door and quickly understood she had locked herself outside. He raised a fist, pretending to hit the door in anger but they both knew that he wouldn’t want the girls from the boutique to find out that he was abusing his pregnant wife.
He gently lowered down his fist and placed his hands on the glass door, glaring her in the eye from across the door while she shivered and cried silently. The night had already arrived and it was getting colder too.
Detesting the sight of her, he clenched his jaw and rested his forehead on the glass door, and gently slammed it in frustration with his palms. She had no idea what had gotten into him but she doesn’t ever remember him like this.
She was sobbing and pregnant, imagining being locked out on the terrace and crying because the baby daddy, the same man that she once loved was glaring at her like death staring at her in the eye, nobody deserved it.
She knelt down on her knees, staring at Ryker, who hadn’t moved a muscle too. She just wanted to go back home, she thought it wouldn’t be that hard, but he was a completely different person from what she recalled him to be.
After a few minutes of him constantly staring at her from across the glass door, he finally turned around and left for his room, only to bring out his phone and start recording himself. She was flopped down on the couch on the terrace in freezing cold weather. A frown appeared on her forehead when she tried to understand what he was really up to. Once he was done with his cellphone, he left for the room. Her heart was still beating loudly in her chest, more like it would jump out of her chest at any moment. She could see her phone on the table in the living room, If She could just leave and pick it up, she will be able to call her mother to come and pick her up from here. She discerned quickly that they could not live under the same roof. The love they once had was long gone, every feeling had vanished and now the emptiness inside their hearts was filled with so much hate and anger that if they kept reappearing in front of each other, they would commit a crime.
“You tricked me,” her dry lips could hardly utter whilst a very fake smirk on his face irked her. He glared at her in response and then shook his head in disbelief, “you thought you were the only one good at that?” he had extended his arms on the sofa’s hand-rest and his one foot over the other. “Now, do you guys mind leaving?” he tilted his head very slightly, “as you know this ain’t your picnic spot.” He made direct eye contact with Lady Lyl, the threat he made through his eyes was enough to announce to Lady Lyl that her entire business will go downhill if she didn’t do what he said. “Kathleen!” Lady Lyl stared at her daughter’s face, who hasn’t looked away from Ryker. Her eyes were glued to the man she had once loved unconditionally, the man she never thought could be this evil. But the question was, why? “I will be fine, mother.” She responded without looking away from Ryker, who was now resting his head back and comfortably staring her ri
The next two days were the same as before, neither Kathleen wanted to speak to Ryker nor did he care for her.As a few days passed by, Ryker's attitude towards her changed a bit. It seemed like he had stopped annoying her purposely. Since he was busy with work, he didn't want to stress himself out with unnecessary brawls. He and Kathleen even started having lunch and dinners at the same dining table. He had started a new business of Ker's Fashion, something he had always wanted to do since the beginning. He had many businesses but this one was going to be a game-changer for him."Yeah! Just a new face." Ryker walked out of the room to sit down with Kathleen, who had already started eating her food.Despite them sitting together, they would hardly ever speak."I want a perfect model for my first fashion show for Ker's Fashion." He was speaking to his secretary on the call and Kathleen could make out that he was looking for some new models to promote
Things started getting weird when Ryker would come back home with Eloise after shooting and they will sit on the terrace to talk for hours. It seemed like they were bonding well, Kathleen felt guilty for even being remotely jealous of this new girl. After how Ryker had treated her and the allegations made by her own brother if anything she should hate this man only. Every time she felt some time of way about him being too close to this new girl, she rounded it up to be the emotional attachment because of her pregnancy.“I will leave now,” Eloise has a pleasant smile on her lips as she walked towards the exit with Ryker, “Bye, Kathleen!” she voiced from the door and instead of responding to her, Kathleen just looked away to the utensils she was picking up.“Oh!” Kathleen heard her gasp but she had no strength to look at her and engage in any more interactions with these. Since things had been going pretty well, with him minding
Ryker and Eloise were in the room: together. She was sitting on the couch from across the table while he had the crib and its manual opened before him.Kathleen was madder at the fact that he was preparing her room with Eloise's choices.
She knew she would look desperate if got caught but it was going to helpful for her to move on from someone, who knows she caught him with another woman. She stood in the doorway and then with her fingertips she gently knocked on the door to get their attention.
After Kathleen had spent the night alone and in pain, the next day brought even a new challenge for her."You are invited to the inauguration of the Ker's clothing brand." Ryker's assistant, Mr. George, announced from the door to Kathleen. She was still half asleep and awoken by the constant ringing of the bell at 10 am."Today?" Kathleen rubbed her swollen eyes and tried to focus on his face. Ryker and Eloise must have left early in the morning to prepare for the inauguration."Yes ma'am today," George bobbed his head obediently, "A car will pick you up in two hours," George announced and parted his way downstairs quickly. It all lined up now, Ryker and Eloise must have been together from way long before Kathleen could even know. May
"What is happening?" she uttered in panic, shivering when the guys opened the door forcefully as one of them had already pulled the driver to the side.Kathleen's heart seemed to be jumping out of her mouth out of stress. She was pregnant and these men didn't seem to care about her condition because the moment her door opened, the guy with a red scarf, hiding his face, pulled her out with force. She couldn't notice anything in haste but the cross tattoo on his chest that she could look at from the unbuttoned shirt was something that grabbed her attention."What do---you wa---nt," she was murmuring under her breath as the two of them pointed a gun at her and the others at the driver."Give us whatever you have," they demanded from the driver but then one of them turned his attention towards Kathleen, who was starting to panic until she passes out."She seems like a rich lady," one guy spoke when he probably recognized her from the news earlier, "I s
