Chapter 22: Risky Offer - Part 1

Back at the park, Ruth had cried her heart out and could cry no more. As she stared at nothing with a blank expression, someone tapped her on the shoulder.

She slowly turned to find out who it was. She jump out of fright and froze in place

"Surprise to see me?" Nicked asked and moved from behind the bench to sit next to her

Ruth just stared at her speechless

"I will go straight to the point," he began and staring directly into her eyes

"My presence cost you, your job. I am here to make you an offer," he said and paused looking at her

Ruth was still staring at him like she was a statue

"Marry me?" the words came out of his mouth

He said it once but Ruth heard it multiple times in her ears.

"Why?" she finally spoke

"I want to take care of you," he replied

"Why?" she asked again confuse about the request.
