Chapter 16

Ronan's Pov

The news reached Darkmoon through channels that should never have carried it.

It started as gossip between the guards. Then the kitchen staff began whispering about it before an official statement had even been made.

Not that one would be made though, seeing that it should never have leaked.

“Bloodmoon Dominion.”

I had heard that name once, years ago, during a history lesson I had barely paid attention to as a younger Alpha in training.

Back then, I had cared more about

Chapter 20Yvonne's Pov We reached Silvercrest just as the sun began sinking behind the mountains, and Julian was already waiting for us in the tactical room, Renata beside him. Maps and archived documents covered the monitors behind them.“Tell me everything,” I said, dropping into a chair. “Now.”Julian exchanged a quick look with Renata before bringing up three images. The first was the border estate employment record. The second showed the crescent-and-line symbol from the waystation. The third was a hand-drawn diagram I had never seen before.“Renata finished cross-referencing the sealed personnel files this afternoon,” Julian said. “The woman trained in that old marking system, the one who disappeared fifteen years ago, her last confirmed location was the same border estate connected to your falsified childhood records.”“So she’s involved,” Gideon said, folding his arms. “Fine. That confirms what we suspected. What does it have to do with tonight?”“It’s more than that,” Renat

Chapter 19 Yvonne's Pov Kael, Ronan’s right hand man, arrived at Silvercrest just after midday. He looked exhausted, with blood staining one side of his shirt, his face hard with worry. He demanded to see my father before anyone had properly announced his arrival. I heard the commotion from the training yard and hurried toward the tactical room. When I entered, Kael was already speaking. “Ronan went into the mountains alone,” he explained, his voice low but tense. “He was ambushed by four trained fighters. He barely escaped with his life.” My heart skipped. “Where is he now?” I asked, staring at Kael. “He's back at Darkmoon,” Kael answered. “A Healer is treating him. He's stable, but the wound is serious.” Something cold spread through my chest. He went alone. After everything that had happened, after standing in that Council chamber and promising that his resources would come without conditions, he had gone into unknown territory alone. “He went alone?” I re

Chapter 18Ronan's Pov The mountain was a lot colder than I had prepared for, it was kind of cold that settled into someone’s bone and stubbornly refused to leave. It has been four hours now and I still keep climbing, following the map of a two-century-old Darkmoon record when my phone chimes loudly inside my jacket pocket.I stopped and pulled it out, staring at the screen and my eyebrows narrowed. The number didn't look familiar.I almost ignored it and shoveled it back into my pocket but my curiosity won. I read the first line and my heart skipped a few beats.Ronan, I know where you're headed and your instincts are correct. However, the map is outdated. The entrance you are looking for shifted after a rockslide thirty years ago. Follow the ridge east, when you get there, you'll see a service passage disguised as a collapsed mine shaft. It has all the answers you need.I stared at the screen, then glanced around to check if I was being followed. Using my wolf instinct but nothing

Chapter 17Yvonne's Pov I had started sleeping in the nursery even though there was nothing left in it.There was nothing except empty cribs and the faint smell of a room that had not been properly cleaned since the night everything went wrong.Elara had offered to move me to a place I'll be more comfortable in, some where she believes would be less hunted.I had stubbornly refused, something in me believed that if I stayed closer, if I kept staying here I would feel more connected to my babies. It sounded ridiculous in my head, but I still believed it somehow. That night, I curled into a cot I had requested from the staff to place it near the shattered incubator when the visions came without a warning. It wasn't exactly a dream, but it felt more real than one. It pulled me in before I had the time to prepare myself.Everywhere went dark at first, then shapes began forming around me.Rough stone walls appeared but they were a lot closer and more detailed than before. It felt as if my

It was an instinct I didn't understand, but I couldn't ignore it.“You're certain that's what Silvercrest found?” I asked, keeping my eyes on Kael.Kael nodded slowly. He leaned against the edge of my desk, his arms folded across his che

Chapter 15Yvonne's Pov Julian refused to believe the tunnel truly ended at that sealed wall. He spent a couple of days going through old records that could prove he was right. He was so certain about finding something and eventually he did. There was an old reference to a second passage built alongside the first, completely forgotten by almost everyone still living. We left at dawn, myself, my father, Gideon, Julian, and a some guards. My wolf stirred faintly the closer we got, that same thin thread in my chest pulling tighter with something between hope and dread. The shed itself held nothing but rotted wood and old tools nobody had touched in years. But beneath a loose section of flooring, exactly where Julian's notes said it should be, Gideon found a hatch. Reinforced, hidden under aged boards, its edges worn smooth in a way that told us it had been used far more recently than the shed around it suggested.“This wasn't forgotten,” Gideon said, crouching down to look closer a
