Once it was evening, Astrid summoned all the workers and dismissed them early for the day. They were grateful to her and wished her a good time with her husband.

After they left, She went into the kitchen and prepared his favorite dish. She had a feeling that her husband would be back anytime soon.

However, she had no idea what was waiting for her ahead.

She carefully prepared for him and made sure that everything was in check. Her husband was particularly strict about cleanliness and order.

A little dust could change his mood and make him ignore her for days.

Meanwhile, Rowan, the coldest domineering CEO of the Wade group, sat at the back of his car with a little child in between him and a fair woman.

He had never thought he would meet the woman he once loved at the airport with his own child.

After his private jet landed in Los Angeles, he thought of going back to his grandmother's house first before returning home.

But he saw her, standing by the exit of the airport. The very woman who had left him yet his heart longed for her after her disappearance.

When she had told him of his son, he couldn't believe his ears and saw the resemblance of the child.

Now, he was bringing them home. His grandmother's call from earlier made him feel glad. As her wish for a great grandchild was finally granted.

As for his wife, he knew that she would accept them regardless of anything. To him, she was foolishly kind and that was why he had not divorced her yet.

She had tied him down with a marriage that he did not want. The least she could do now was accept whatever that he desires.

Once his driver arrived at his home, he carried his son out of the car and went up to the front door of his house.

Astrid who was waiting for him, rushed over to the door to welcome him home. She thought of different ways to greet him but when she opened the door, she froze at the spot. Unable to utter a word.

"Move aside," her husband coldly said and her heart deflated like a punctured balloon.

It was after he muttered those cold words to her that she realized that her husband had brought two foreigners home.

"Rowan," she finally got the courage to call his name. She demanded an explanation, the woman who brought home, she recognized her.

When her husband was passing through hell because of this woman, she had watched him with a heavy heart and offered him her shoulders even though his pain was for another woman.

This woman was no other than Victoria James, her husband's childhood sweetheart. A slender woman with black long hair and eyes as brown almonds.

She had a bright smile on her face as she walked into the living room, observing the entire place with keen eyes.

"Hello, you must be Rowan's wife. Please take good care of me and your husband's son," she blurted out and Astrid's eyes darted to her husband.

Yet, he tried not to explain anything to her instead he said,“Prepare a place for them to stay."

He walked coldly walked away and all Astrid could do was clench her clothes and blink away the tears that formed in her eyes. She was too emotional and tender like a fragile glass.

Even at that she tried not to show any form of hurt and acted like everything was fine.

She showed Victoria to her room and went up to meet her husband. They stayed in different rooms but she wished for him to come down for dinner.

Astrid got to his room door and contemplated knocking for minutes before she got the courage to do so.

Once she did, the door opened instantly and her husband stood with his hair wet from the shower and his eyes as cold as ice.

"I...I wanted to let you know that dinner is ready," she managed to say, nervous to her toes.

He pulled her into his room and slammed the door shut. A terrified gasp escaped from Astrid's mouth as he trapped her against the door.

Astrid's heart raced stupidly as his cold gaze scrutinized her.

"What was it you discussed with my Grandmother?" He questioned her and she shrunk against the door in fear.

"Nothing." She refused to talk and he squeezed her cheeks with his right hand.

"I have given you more than you deserve, Astrid. Don't bite more than you can chew because it will give you a bad belly ache. To be clear, don't expect me to have children with you," he sternly said and moved away from her.

Astrid was hurt by his words yet she did not remind him of coming down to dinner before she left his room.

She went to her bedroom, and broke down in tears as her husband's return was nothing but a thorn to her chest. She knew he did not love her but tried all she could to make him see her in a good light.

Yet he had no place in his heart for her. After staying in her room for a few minutes, she went down to set the table.

However, her husband was already in the dining room eating the dinner she had made with his childhood sweetheart.

Upon noticing her presence, Victoria got up from her chair and turned to Astrid.

"Oh, I had to set the table since you were not available. I hope you don't mind me doing so and the food is quite healthy," Victoria said.

She had intentionally set the table just to get on Astrid's nerves but Astrid showed no sign of being offended as her heart was still heavy.

"Next time, let me take care of you," Astrid replied and joined them.

They continued to eat and Astrid watched them crack jokes and laugh. It was the first time she had ever seen her husband so happy. He never looked at her with this much joy in his eyes as he looked at his childhood sweetheart.

All through, she was made insignificant. Her husband was so engrossed in his childhood sweetheart to even notice her.

She picked her food until she couldn't bear to watch her husband anymore. As she was about to leave, the little boy beside her got up with her.

"Please, young Miss, can you take me to my room?" He asked and Astrid turned to the duo whose attention was now on her.

"Yes, come. I will send you to your room," Astrid smiled at the child and took him away from the dining room.

After tucking the boy to sleep, she went back to her room and tried to sleep but her mind kept wondering about her husband and the unwanted guest.

She became to ponder on her actions, whether it was right for her to leave them alone in their own space.

Unable to settle with her thoughts, she got up from her bed and went to her husband's room. She knocked, wondering if he had retired to bed already. A part of her wanted to leave but she was too scared that her marriage would crumble if she let things go as they are.

After standing at the door for ten minutes, she gave up on waiting and turned to leave, but the door clicked open.

"Why are you here?" Her husband's cold voice echoed through the hall.

She smiled within seeing that he wasn't with the unwanted guest.

"I...just wanted to say goodnight. Sorry for disturbing your peace. I will take my leave now," she hurriedly said and turned on her heels to leave.

"Tomorrow, I have an announcement to make. Be up early," he informed her and Astrid returned to her room full of anxiety against tomorrow.

It took five minutes for Astrid to process what Grandma Wade had revealed to her. She couldn't believe that something like that was possible especially to someone raised with a golden spoon. In other words Rowan's life was in danger. It was only a matter of time for things to escalate and get worse, thereby putting her husband in a difficult position.“Who else knows about this Grandma?" she asked, holding her hand as anxiety took over her mind.“Only, Chef Gladline and you know about this. But I have made preparations to put his name in secret. Which means, people will find out sooner or later about his hereditary. You have to promise me that you won't let anyone know about you or your child when the time comes. I don't want anything bad to happen to any of you. So please promise me that you will protect yourself at all costs," She demanded.“I will never allow anyone to harm my child, husband or me. That person would have to cross the largest sea in order to do that," Astrid said, m

A nice warm coffee was all Astrid needed to start her day. After helping Noah prepare for school and making sure that he left early, she relaxed at home. Her main goal was to select wedding themes for her and Rowan to look over once he returned from work. Unknown to her, he was in a bit of a crisis. She hummed over a biscuit in her mouth as she glanced through wedding magazines for a style to pick.“You look beautiful today, child," Grandma Wade gently strode into the leisure room. Astrid dropped the magazine she was looking at and went to assist her, until she found a comfortable spot to sit down.“Thank you Grandma." Her cheeks heated up from the old lady's compliment. She shyly brushed her hair behind her ear and smiled like a cute puppy.“My beautiful granddaughter. I am so glad that Rowan brought you back to the family. I missed you a lot to the extent that I refused to talk to my block head grandson if he did not bring you back. Thank you for accepting his proposal," Grandma mu

Astrid woke up the next day wrapped in her husband's arms. They were clued to each other, skin to skin, under the sheets. She moves her upper body against him and uses her elbow as support on his chest. While he was asleep, observed his prince-like features and trailed her fingers on his face until she got to his lips.Memories of how his lips work on her body last night pulled in. She reddened immediately from the thought and decided to move away from him for her safety. But it was already too late, her little movements had woken him up. His hands moved around her waist keeping her in place on top of him.“Good morning, baby," he mumbled with a deep raspy voice. Her face flushed up and he chuckled loving the effect he had on her.“Um... good morning." Her hands rushed up to her face, embarrassed by how audacious she had been last night.Rowan made an attempt to remove her hands but she held onto tight and continued to hide her face.“Why wouldn't you let me see your face, baby?" He

“Let me get this straight. Rowan asked you to remarry him and you said no but then had sex with him," Rose summarized Astrid's story. They were at a spa house receiving a full body massage and facial treatment. Astrid hummed in response, enjoying the relaxing touch of her masseuse's hands.“Why? You should have just said yes. How long are you going to keep playing tag with him? That's frustrating you know," Rose said, gasping in relief after her masseuse hit a stress point on her body.Astrid had regained most of her memories about her best friend. It was hard to forget someone as cheerful and sunshine-like like Rose. She talked along, clung to Astrid like a Velcro strap whenever she wasn't indulged by Rowan or entertained by her fiance, Nelson. So it was easy to remember her faster than everyone else.“I just want him to suffer a little. He said he hurt me in the past. So he should get a taste of his own medicine," Astrid expressed her intention which Rose disapproved.“That was a

As days passed, Astrid began to adapt to her surroundings. She enjoyed spending time with those around her most especially, her dear husband. He made her happy. These triggered some of her memories to return. Although they were still hazy, she could remember names. However, his name didn't seem to bring good memories to her. Most of what she could remember was her crying and feeling desperate for his attention. During those times she had those flashbacks, she distanced herself from him.She didn't understand why she would feel horrible towards someone who she loved. The thought of being betrayed again frightened her. She wanted to be with Rowan as long as possible. So instead of prying and questioning her taunting memories, she decided to bury it deep in her heart. After all he loves her and that's what matters. She thought that if she pushed the bitter memories of her past behind she would be able to live happily with him.But then, memories like that were hard to forget. “My love.

Astrid cracked up when she noticed Delilah had turned pale from her threat. She couldn't believe that she would react to it thoughtfully.“I am sorry Doc," she said, laughing in between. “What's funny?" Delilah asked still shaken from her threat.“It was a joke. I am not a horrible person to do such a thing to my doctor. You see I received treatment from a doctor who toyed with my brain, switched my medication, and made me think I was someone. I am only being cautious that the same thing won't repeat itself. Please forgive me if I startled you," Astrid muttered with an apologetic smile. She didn't mean to scare the young doctor. But then she didn't want to be fooled by anyone again. She wants to get better, heal from her wounds, learn about her husband again, and remember her memories.Doctor Delilah let out a relieved laugh feeling embarrassed that she had fallen for her patient's prank. She brushed her hair behind her ear and placed the clipboard she was holding on the mini tea tab

"Welcome, Mrs. ...um." Astrid's therapist stared at her patient's chart. She was confused about how to address Astrid since she had two last names. Rowan and Astrid had not renewed their vows after they annulled their divorce prior to the accident. Rowan had plans of rectifying that later. But for now, he wanted Astrid to feel comfortable with him and others. Seeing her struggle with the names, Astrid placed her hand on the clipboard and gently pulled it down."Call me Astrid instead," She said, easing the doctor's burden. The doctor smiled at her and offered her a seat on her fluffy white sofa. Astrid noticed the white interior design in her office especially the russian poreclain dolls that sat on a stair-like shelf."I hope you don't mind the plain colour of my office. I like the colour white," the Doctor muttered when she noticed Astrid's roaming eyes."Not at all. It's simple and lovely." She smiled."Okay, would you like a cup of tea or coffee?" The doctor asked, walking over

Traveling back to the city was one thing and relating with the people you had forgotten was a whole lot for Astrid. She got to meet her parents who couldn't thank Rowan enough for bringing her home. They shared memories with her, took her to their favorite family spots and called her best friends over. Rose and Nelson hovered around her everyday they came to visit, they never left her and made sure she was comfortable. Chef Gladine was overwhelmed to have her back and prepared all kinds of dishes to welcome her. Everything seemed new to her but they made her feel at ease especially Rowan and Noah who were at her beck and call. “No, Mommy. That's not how to make my sandwich. You put the tomatoes first before the Vegetables, I like it that way," Noah instructed, showing her how he liked his sandwich to be made. “Don't put pressure on your Mommy, Noah," Rowan cautioned as he fried some eggs and bacon for breakfast. He had an apron tied around his waist, giving him a sexy daddy appear
