Ethan placed the cup of coffee on the table next to where Pierre was working.

"Pierre, I don't get what you said earlier," Ethan said, still bothered by what Pierre told him.

"I meant what I said, and I am not exaggerating," Pierre answered as he kept himself busy on the task.

"You see, my father is not that kind of a man he is."

Pierre looked at him. "He's a great father to you, Ethan. He's a good man even."

"Then why?"

"You cannot battle business with kindness, Ethan. Your father almost failed in his business because he followed his heart. It only took some time until it hardened, and he started destroying others."
