SAESHA POV

It was strange how quickly life could change.

Three months ago, I was chained to a stone floor, bleeding out, my son ripped from my arms. Three months ago, I thought Alex would die in front of me.

Three months ago, I watched Veeraj’s body hit the floor, blood spilling from his skull.

And now—

Sunlight spilled through the windows of our new house. Soft, golden, warm. The kind of light that belonged to a different life. Our life.

Our baby boy lay in his crib, no longer the fragile, pink-faced newborn who’d entered this world in chains, but a three-month-old bundle of smiles and squishy cheeks. His little fists batted at the air, his mouth gurgling as he tried to laugh.

I bent over him, brushing my lips over his soft head. “You’re getting so big, my little bean,” I whispered, tears pricking my eyes at how healthy he was now. “Too big too fast.”

Behind me, Alex’s deep voice rumbled. “He’s perfect. Just like his mama.”

I turned, my heart clenching at the sight of him.

SAESHA POV The next morning smelled of sunshine and warm bread. For the first time in days, the house didn’t sound like worry. No medicine bottles rattling, no whispered panic at a thermometer’s beep — only the hum of the kettle and Elian’s small voice humming off-key from the couch. He was better. Really better. Color back in his cheeks, a tiny bandage on his elbow from yesterday’s misadventure with a toy truck, and eyes that sparkled with mischief again. Alex watched him over the rim of his coffee cup, suspicious. “You planning trouble already?” Elian grinned around a bite of toast. “Maybe.” I laughed, cutting up fruit for him. “He’s fine. Look at him. You’d never know he had us crying two nights ago.” “Don’t remind me,” Alex murmured, shaking his head. “I aged ten years.” Just then the doorbell rang. Before either of us could move, Elian slid off the couch and ran, socks skidding on the floor. “Auntie Clara!” I heard Clara’s cheerful voice in the hall.

SAESHA POVBy morning, the house smelled faintly of peppermint and medicine. The fever had broken sometime before dawn; the damp towel that Alex had been changing every half hour now lay forgotten on the couch arm.Elian slept, finally still. His cheeks were flushed but not crimson anymore, his breath soft and even. The small rise and fall of his chest was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.I sat beside him, one hand resting over his blanket, too afraid to move it away. For hours I’d watched every twitch, every sigh, terrified that the fever would spike again. Now, the tension left my body all at once, leaving behind a strange mix of dizziness and gratitude.Alex came from the kitchen carrying two mugs. He looked wrecked — dark circles under his eyes, hair sticking up everywhere — but there was a small, tired smile on his face. He handed me one mug and crouched near Elian.“Cool,” he murmured, brushing his lips across our son’s forehead. “Finally.”I nodded, the word catc

SAESHA POV At first, it was funny. Elian mumbled his savage words and rolled over, his curls a mess, his little mouth parted in sleep. I wiped my tears of laughter and leaned on the doorframe, exhausted but soft. But then— “Mama…” His voice cracked, small, nothing like his usual cheeky tone. He whimpered, shifting, his tiny hands clutching at the sheets. My smile faded instantly. “Elian?” I hurried forward, sitting on the edge of his bed, brushing the sweaty curls off his forehead. The heat that hit my palm made my stomach drop. “Oh my God—Alex—he’s burning.” Alex was at my side in a heartbeat, scooping our son up into his arms. His little body sagged limply against his chest, his face flushed crimson. “Fuck,” Alex swore under his breath, panic flashing in his eyes. “Baby, he’s burning up—he’s so hot.” I pressed my trembling hand to Elian’s cheek, tears already welling. “He was fine yesterday. He was laughing. Eating. How—” “Kids crash fast,” Alex muttered, already moving to

SAESHA POV The sun was barely peeking through the curtains when I stirred. My bump pressed heavy into the mattress, my limbs still sore from the night before. My dreams had been hazy, heat lingering even in sleep. Then I felt it. Warm lips. Soft at first, pressing reverent kisses along my inner thigh. Then wetter. Slower. His breath hot against me, teasing. My eyes fluttered open, the room still dim, and I gasped softly. “Alex…?” He looked up from between my legs, his hair already a mess, his eyes dark and glinting with mischief. “Morning, baby.” My heart lurched, my cheeks flaming. “What are you—” “Returning the favor,” he interrupted smoothly, dragging his tongue along my swollen folds. A broken sound tore from my throat. My hand flew to grip the sheets, my body arching despite myself. “Alex—oh God—” He chuckled low, gripping my thighs, holding me open. “You think you’re the only one who can study tricks?” His tongue swirled deliberately, slow and filthy, flick

SAESHA POVClara was dangerous when she was sipping tea.She lounged on the couch like a queen, legs crossed, sipping her steaming cup with a little smirk tugging her lips. I should’ve known she had that look—the one that meant she was about to open her big mouth and make me want to hide under a blanket.“So,” she drawled, eyes sliding to me as I waddled in from the kitchen with a bowl of fruit balanced on my bump. “Tell me, baby mama—how does it feel to have Alex worshiping you into pregnancy glow?”I choked on my grape, coughing violently. “Clara!”She smirked wider, sipping her tea. “What? You think I don’t know why you’re glowing? It’s not the vitamins. It’s not the rest. It’s because that man has been—” She leaned forward conspiratorially. “—putting in overtime.”My entire face went red. “You are his aunt!”“And?” Clara shrugged like it meant nothing. “He’s still a man. And from the way you limp sometimes, I’d say he’s quite a man.”“CLARA!” I buried my face in my hands, groaning

SAESHA POV The house was quiet. Elian had gone down hours ago after a whole bedtime circus of stories, songs, and bargaining for “five more minutes.” My bump was heavy, my body sore, but the silence — the stillness — felt like a gift. Alex slid in behind me, his arms wrapping around my swollen belly, his lips brushing the curve of my neck. “Finally,” he murmured, his voice low, hungry. I shivered, leaning back into him. “You’re insatiable.” He chuckled darkly, his hand sliding under my shirt to cup my breast, swollen and tender. “Two months of you being careful, baby. I’m starving.” Heat coiled in me instantly, a familiar ache. My thighs pressed together as I turned to kiss him, our mouths clashing, desperate. His hand slid down, stroking my thigh, parting me slowly as his tongue tangled with mine. The bed creaked as he moved over me, his mouth trailing fire down my throat. “Tell me you need me.” “I need you,” I gasped, my back arching, my hands clutching at his shoulders.
