Chapter 27

Ten serious looking men sat around the conference table covered in files and spreadsheets in the boardroom. The discussions were very formal and so was the atmosphere. They were dressed in varying degrees of gray suits and expensive shoes. The ties in different colors firmly knotted around their necks only added to the stoic atmosphere. Nothing in the room suggested bright sunny beaches and laughter. There were no flowers to brighten the space, just a large wall clock on the wall that reminded everyone how many hours they had been seated there.

Even the weather outside the windows was gray and cold.

The room and atmosphere reflected Asher’s mood perfectly, he thought. He sat at the head of the table, but his mind was barely on the discussions around him. It was a good thing they did not need his input at this point in the negotiations. Asher was certain he had even forgotten which company they were negotiating with.
