ALESSIA

He didn’t look at me throughout the ride home, neither did he say a word. Was he mad at me? Or at my father for the mess he had pushed us into ?

Speaking of father, I still didn’t get to catch a glimpse of him. Mother and aunt Lucretia had ran out when Cesare led Salvatore away.

They had come to say their goodbyes, ignoring the half dead man whose father gave my father the position he held today. I needed no seer to tell me that war was coming. But this time, it might be the Outfit against the Outfit, Giuseppe against Russo.

Serves my father right.

“Here, have some water, Alessia.”

He handed the bottle to me with a warm smile on his pretty face. If I hadn’t seen him kill two men a while ago, I’d have concluded he was the most nicest in the Berlusconi family. But indeed he was, but he was also the most vicious.

The Viper as people call him. He no doubt is living up to his name.

“ Thank you Cesare,” I nod in appreciation. It was just what I needed aft

SALVATORE She took a few sips from my glass. I wanted to watch Matteo burn with fury. I wanted him to realize he lost the fight before it even begun. “ Since our wedding got interrupted, why don’t we… make love?” She chokes on her drink, almost spitting out the contents on Zakai’s face.I could spend all day teasing her. “ Shouldn’t we handle the larger issues at ground before we.. you get such.. such silly thoughts.” Silly? We could spend the rest of our time in bed putting into practice those silly thoughts of mine. “ I’m taking Alessia home with me. I’m her rightful husband,” finally, I had been waiting forever to hear him voice out those stupid words. Seems my wife had almost forgotten about our ‘guests’. She held onto the glass cup more tighter than she would ever hold onto me. Anyways, time to call it a day. How about I put our little friend in his place? “ I’ll make you an offer. You’ve got a gun, Cesare is also well prepared. A one on one

ALESSIA My mask was off, now the world could see through me. They’d know I was not as strong as I claimed to be. The guests all seated, waiting patiently for our union. This wedding would benefit each and every single person present here, everyone but me. I’d give anything to get away from this. Anything at all. The officiant had said a lot in the last four minutes, but not a single word did I hear. Just when I was starting to get bored, he asked very loudly if I was willing to take Salvatore as my lawfully wedded husband. My parents watched anxiously from their seats. So did everyone present. Everyone who knew what this union would result to. “No. I do not accept Salvatore as my husband.”The crowd gasped in disbelief. Who would have thought I’d say such a thing? My father’s jaw was this close to hitting the floor. I just blew their peace treaty. Shattered it in fact. For someone who just got rejected publicly before hundreds of people, he seeme

ALESSIA I jerked to a halt as time seemed to grind to a stop around me. Marcella's non-stop rambling felt so distant as though I had drifted out of my own body. I stood outside my frozen body and I observed Salvatore with keen eyes. His cold yet charming gray eyes scanned me from head to toe. It wasn't the affectionate look a bride gets from her husband, it was something other than that. It was that proud look of accomplishment when you not only marry one of the prettiest girls in Chicago, but you own her now. Good gracious, he was tall. The men beside him were both over six feet but he made them look so small. The only one who came close was his brother, Cesare. The two brothers had a striking resemblance; Same black soot hair but his eyes held more warmth. I don't care if the same black blood runs through their veins, but I'd have appreciated Father if he had gotten Cesare for a son-in-law. “ It seems as though the bride is in a trance. Can someone please bring her b

  • When A Mafia Loves: Becoming Salvatore’s    Chapter 2

The quiet wedding hall was filled with pitiful faces. Distant aunts and uncles, cousins, and distant family relatives who I barely met were all present to grace my death sentence. Barely forty eight hours of my return and I was already getting sold to a stranger I had never seen. With knots tying up my stomach, I kinda wished it was Matteo I was getting married to. At least I knew the type of devil I was dealing with. Be careful what you wish for Alessia, but I know what I wish for. A quick glance around the room gave away what I needed to know. It was a wedding ceremony and despite being a forced union, it would have been a joyful occasion but what was with the burial looks? My relatives looked as though they were mourning my death. I wasn’t dead yet but I’d soon be. They gawked at me like it was the last time they were going to see my corpse before they closed the casket on me. As I walked by in the breath snatching dress mother had chosen for the occasion, I heard them wh

ALESSIA “ Time's up, princess. It's time to go home.” That voice. A hard knot constricted my throat, making it difficult to breathe. I had my back turned on him, but I certainly could make out who it was even while in a slumber. The small hairs across my body stood on end as if they too had sensed who it was. My heart hammered and a sickening wave of terror welled up my stomach. My jaw dropped, eyes widening in disbelief as I turned on my heels. I froze, muscles locked in a momentary paralysis. My hands trembled uncontrollably and my chalk white fingers shook so terribly that the platter I held fell to the ground and the shattering sound of glass alerted Gracie, the mean senior worker who held a grudge against me. “ You lousy nitwit. Is there anything you can do right?” She half yelled and stomped her foot, moving angrily in my direction, certainly to berate me. She hadn't taken notice of the men in black, neither did she notice how lifeless I looked as I stared blan
