Chapter 49: On fire
Karen was on her way to another shoot when her phone rang, disrupting the peace of the car. The noise had broken the silence that had accompanied them all the way from the hotel to their current destination.
She had flinched when it rang in her laps where her small handbag was rested.
A few eyes turned to her. There were three other models in the limousine, the vehicle chosen as today's ride. They soon diverted their attentions back to the road, easing her of feeling uncomfortable.
"Have you heard the news?" An unrecognizable voice asked her from the other end. Whoever it was was calling her from the office landline.
