This is my house

Sophia watched as Kiara's face fell, she had expected this to happen since she saw how terrible the relationship between them was. The girl said, "Are you out of your mind? I don't even consider him a living person, you want me to beg him to help me?"

"That's not what I meant!" The manager immediately shook her head, "I want you to reap the good opportunity that you have in your hand. You married the most powerful man of our country, there is nothing he can do. Besides, you are not getting anything from this marriage and you are going to divorce him anyway. I suggest you get his help to kickstart your career while he is still there."

Kiara shook her head sideways, showing that she was negative towards this idea. She said, "I am sure this will work but Icarus won't help me."

"Why won't he? He is your husband…"

"Sophia, can you please stop associating me with that man? Just because we both signed a random form and got issued with a marriage certificate, it doesn't make him my husband." Kiara snapped before the latter could even finish her sentence. Sophia swallowed back whatever she wanted to say, seemed like she would have to give up on this idea. She had even witnessed it yesterday, things were not really good between the two.

Meanwhile Kiara took a deep breath and looked around to make sure that her outburst had not attracted unwanted attention. She looked at her friend who was sinking in her seat after getting yelled at, she said slowly, "I am sorry. I didn't mean to yell… It's just… I am going through a lot and…"

"Hey, it's okay. I understand." Sophia grabbed her hand and calmed her down like a good friend she was. Her moral support brought a little ease to Kiara who seemed to be losing her mind; even though she pretended as if she didn't care, the fact that someone like Daphne could steal the role she prepared so much for was bothering her deep down.

Sophia waited for a whole before asking, "If you won't get mad, can I ask you something?"

Kiara nodded seriously prompting the latter to ask, "What happened between you two, Kiara? You two were best of friends in high school, you were the only girl Icarus ever allowed around himself back then. How did things turn out like this between you both?" Kiara's hand which was helping her with the food trembled slightly when she asked her question, she fell into a daze thinking about the time when she shared a good relationship with Icarus as Sophia had mentioned.

He was her best friend, the first person who she would look for if something had to happen to her. Darren was two years older than her while Icarus was in the same class as her and Sophia, so she spent more time with him than she ever could with Darren.

Kiara dismissed the memories of her high school days coming back to her head and said calmly, "You know for yourself why I don't like him."

"No." Sophia said before adding, "The way you hate him, it won't be for something as trivial as him ruining your chances with Darren."

Something… else?

Kiara's ajar eyes again flashed with snippets of dark blurry images where she was crying and getting grabbed. She blinked and smiled to hide the agony on her face, "What are you talking about? There is nothing of that sort. I just feel betrayed that he could do something like that to me despite knowing how much I loved Darren."

The two finished their lunch and decided to head back home, since Sophia had no ride Kiara offered to drop her off. Although Sophia was pretty impressed by the Audi she was driving, she refrained from making a comment. Kiara was from a well off family but she was always humble about the fact that she was just an adopted daughter of the family; neither did no one ever bother to give her anything on their own nor did she ever ask.

After dropping her friend off, Kiara headed back to Vuron castle where she was welcomed by Chloe who asked her how the audition went. Since the girl was too tired to explain things to her, she just said it went well and headed upstairs.

Icarus didn't return for dinner but it was still unknown if he would come back tonight. She hadn't met him for a whole day and wished it would continue a couple more days.

After dinner before heading up, Kiara's eyes fell on the rack of knife which was kept in the kitchen. The chef got the knife sharpened every single day because of which a whole stand was dedicated to those knives to protect anyone from getting hurt. Kiara stared at the knives for a while, she was hesitant for a while but proceeded to grab one of the knives and take it back to the room with her. She placed it carefully underneath her pillow, hoping that she would never have to use it.

She was paranoid about him returning so wanted to stay away till day break because she knew he won't return home after that but she was so tired that she ended up dozing off.

It was around the middle of the night and Kiara was in a deep slumber when she felt her side of the bed sink a little. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly but she was too sleepy to wake up; it was when she felt something rough crawling on her face that she woke up. The girl slapped away whatever it was and sat up straight, turning on the night lamp next to her she asked, "Who is this!"
