Chapter Six

We were having the literature class at that period and we walked into the class just before the literature teacher Miss B walked into the class. Everyone was already seated when we walked in and I was left to wonder when they all got to class since the bell that ends lunch hour just went off few minutes ago.

People stared at us and probably wondered what I was doing with the new girl or what she was doing with me, seeing how unpopular I was in school. I hadn't realized that I was looking down probably, counting my steps or looking at my legs, while I made my way to my chair till I sat down and raised my head to look to the front of the class where Miss B stood trying to get ready what she was about to teach us. She was a bit strict, at least nobody made unnecessary noise when it was her standing in front of the class, unlike how most of the boys chatted and made awful noises if it were other teachers who were not so strict.

Ellie had not said a single word to me since we sat down and I just felt like she was trying to get used to the whole friendship stuff, though she seemed very reserved and talked less. I looked at her to see what she was doing and she was just staring ahead. It was obvious to me that she was thinking of something. This heightened my curiosity about her. I wanted to know who she really is. Is this what curiosity does? I've never been this curious about someone before and here was I, trying to study and know who this girl was and whatever it is that bothered her.

Still wallowing in my thoughts, I looked around the class absent-minded till my attention was caught by Frank who was staring at me. Was he at me? Or was he looking at Ellie?  Oh! He was looking at me. My face flushed a little and I turned away from him immediately to avoid being caught by others as well as hide my flushed face from him.

"Good day everyone, so I told us in the last class to read the book titled Othello by William Shakespeare right, so today I will like us to critically assess the character of Desdemona in the book Othello, let me know if any of you really did what I asked you to do..." Miss B said to the class. Good thing she spoke up now at least everyone's attention, including mine was now on her. Damn! I totally forgot about the book, I just hoped that she doesn't give us a pop quiz right now because, I'll really fail it as I have no single idea what the book is all about.

"Can someone do that for us?" She continued while she started pacing around as she swayed her beautiful round ass that was neither big nor small and taking a look some books that some people placed before them to ensure that no one was doing something else. Everybody was quiet and the only thing we could hear was the sound her pointed heel shoe coming in contact with the tiled floor of the class.

"Okay, Danny, you can tell us what is on your mind." She said to Danny who was probably raising his hand to answer the question she had asked earlier. As he stood up to answer, everyone turned their focus to him.

"Desdemona, was headstrong and can I say stubborn. She knew what she wanted and not just went for it, but insisted on having it or nothing else even when her father refused her from getting married to the 'Moor'." He said and just then, Frank said something to John in a low voice, which I did not hear but Miss B saw John laugh.

"Yes Frank Kingston, can you share the joke with the class, we would love to laugh too." She said before she ordered them to be on their feet.

"You tried, Danny thank you. At least it shows that you read the book." She said to him while she motioned him to sit down with a flip of her hands. She was a no-nonsense lady and so beautifull with her shoulder length, thick, black hair and are thin lips which was almost always painted red paired up with her slightly big eyes and slim nose which made her to look almost like a doll, I know that some boys in my class had a crush on her and it was a good thing that she never gave them a chance to misbehave around her so it made most of us fear her.

"What did you say to him?" She asked Frank with every strand of seriousness in her. She was one of the few teachers that didn't give a fuck if Frank Kingston was from the richest family in the neighborhood. I heard that she was engaged to a very wealthy business tycoon from one of these Asian countries. So obviously, money wasn't her problem and she wasn't intimidated by money either.

Frank knew the type of person she was and it made him speak up quickly instead of being a stubborn arrogant wealthy kid he usually posed to be in front of other teachers.

"Speak louder so that the class could hear what you are saying." She demanded strictly.

"I said, it's a pity she ended up dead in the hands of the 'moor'." He said, repeating himself since he wasn't audible at first.

"And why were you laughing if this is what he said?" She deadpanned as she turned to question John.

"It was funny..." He said arrogantly.

"It was funny?" She asked rhetorically. "You are sick. For this statement to be funny to you then you are honestly sick." she continued while everyone stared at the two boys that were standing up. I tried not to look at them for long especially Frank.

Well, she told them to be seated while she continued with her class then she gave us an assignment which will be presented to the class orally in her next class.

I wasn't happy with these series of oral assignments because I was shy as fuck and I knew my place in this school which made me cringe whenever I imagined myself standing in front of everyone to give a speech or presentation. I just hoped that i don't get embarrassed on the slated day for the presentation seeing that this one was not in pairs or group work like other times.
