Lewis Everdeen, my dad’s half brother, was someone who had a very special place in my heart. Even though he was my uncle, he was a buddy for both my sister and me.

His way of always treating us as his friends rather than his niece was what had always made us feel him more like our best friend than uncle. And seeing him after so long was what made me feel like I was on cloud nine.

Scratching the back of his head, he passed me a smile before saying, “Don’t be silly, princess. If I said that, then how could it be a surprise?”

“Come on, you know how much I love giving surprises,” he replied, grinning.
