Lahat ng Kabanata ng So You Think Your Sister's a Vampire?: Kabanata 241 - Kabanata 250

Gibbon was beginning to sense that I was here. I wasn’t sure how I knew this, but it was a fact. He was starting to draw me into his mind, and I fought against it, trying to decide how best to help the team, which was quickly falling apart.I switched my IAC to Cale who got two shots off before Gibbon reached him. The Reno Area Leader dropped to the ground and rolled into a nearby cell as Gibbon’s beastly form rained down on him. Cale pushed the door closed with his boot and held it there, and I knew that Gibbon could easily have torn that door from its hinges if he wanted to, but the sound of other footsteps coming down the hall toward him drew his attention, and I began to sense fear in Gibbon. He wasn’t capable of understanding what was happening. He only knew he needed to get out if he was going to survive. My sister and Aaron would come into contact with the monster next. The human security guard hardly sensed their presence as they whooshed by h

I barely noticed what was happening in the observation circle as I continued to call out to Gibbon, but I did see Hannah and Morgan go flying through the air like rag dolls, crashing into display cases as Gibbon made his way through his opponents. I knew now he was coming to me. It was only a matter of time, and as much as the Hunters and Guardians in front of him wanted to slow his approach to the exit they assumed he was searching for, they wouldn’t be able to stop him.Brandon was out there now. His presence was my only reason for paying any attention at all to what Gibbon was actually doing as I continued my siren’s call. I realized my sister had somehow managed to will her way back to her feet and that she was following Aaron down the hallway. He had almost caught up with Gibbon, but neither of them would be able to stop the monster either.A flurry of motion caught my attention, and I switched to Brandon’s perspective, realizing too late I shoul

My sister had a couple of broken ribs, and one had punctured her lung, just as I’d expected. Between the three Healers, they had just enough juice to put her back together. Everyone else had to wait a little while, but eventually, everyone got patched up, and the next day we headed back to Kansas City. That’s right—no stops in Shenandoah. I’d get my stuff later.I expected a long lecture from several people about how I had, once again, ignored direct orders and put myself in danger. But that’s not what happened. My sister, Aaron, Elliott, and Brandon all let me know that wasn’t the smartest thing I could’ve done but that they appreciated my efforts. Aaron suggested that next time I run it by Cadence, and while I knew that would’ve done me absolutely no good, I smiled sweetly and agreed.I think they were madder at Christian than me, and I knew I’d better start working on repairing that relationship as quickly as pos

“You ready, Cassidy?” Aurora asked, looking down at me as I stood in front of The Hill, this incredibly steep, mountainous obstacle we practice on. I knew I was having trouble focusing, mostly because I could feel my sister’s eyes on me all the way across the gymnasium. She was in one of the rooms across the hallway running on a treadmill, something she does every morning, but that morning she seemed particularly fascinated with my progress for some reason. I wished there were curtains over those windows.“I’m ready,” I assured Aurora. I tipped my head up to look her in the eyes, but that’s hard because she’s well-over six feet tall. She smiled down at me and blew her whistle, and I took off up The Hill, trying my best to beat my time from before.I figured out a long time ago that it’s faster to jump up and down the hill, but that doesn’t do much for my endurance, and that’s what I was working on. So I

“Are you all right, Cassidy?” Tara asked, and I realized I’d slipped off again. “Sometimes you get this look in your eyes, like you’re not really here.”“I’m sorry. It’s just—Jamie was the one who saved me, you know. I was thinking about that.”“Right,” Tara said, but I don’t think she quite got it, and I wasn’t exactly sure what she knew and what she didn’t. I definitely didn’t want to talk about it.“Well, I know why I’d want to stay here,” Mika was saying as she got dressed. “And it’s nothing to do with that doctor man.”I cocked my head to the side and looked up at her as her damp, curly hair sprung out of the top of her T-shirt. “What is it, then?”“Yeah, why do you want to stay here?” Tara asked, her forehead as crinkled as mine.“Seriously?” she asked in her thick
