Chapter 11
"What?" I watched Tera wide-eyed, blinking. "You have exactly two hours to finish them," she said, seeming unfazed by my reaction. "Are you joking me?" Her lips pursed. "Do I look like I am joking? Get to it already!" I looked down at the piles of dirty clothes that must have come from at least a hundred people. Dried mud and traces of moss stained every single one of them. What were they even doing? Playing reptiles on the ground? Earlier Tera brought me to a new house. No, it'd be a mistake to call it a house. It was more like a mansion with four stories and probably two hundred rooms. Though its appearance was nothing compared to the beautiful hell I resided in now. Loud cackles came from the living room as a whole group of young men crowded there watching tv and snacking. Kids played outside, and women hurried around with their chores. Seemed like they all lived together in here. The pack house as they called it. This small town was as though a modern version of a tribe. Th

Chapter 12
"Good luck."Tera's last words filled me with a dread so cold and edgy I had to stop myself from clinging onto her when she pushed me inside Hades' house and slammed the door behind.Turning around, I glanced around at the darkness, my heavy breathing filling the space.I thought Hades was already back. Then why were the lights turned off?Spreading my arm, I found the edge of the entrance table and tip-toed forward with its support. My other hand fumbled on the wall, looking for the switches. They had to be here somewhere. At that moment, I hated myself for not paying attention to them before.A feeling of something cold touched my foot, and I jumped a few feet away, a squeal leaving my mouth. Dread crept up my spine a little more, as I moved to the other side and groped on the wall once again, while sending prayers to the heavens.Appeared God finally paid heed to me when my fingers landed on the switch board, and overwhelmed, I pushed them all on.The house brightened up like the m

Chapter 13
Have you ever felt guilty for someone else's crime?Have you ever lost sleep sympathizing your enemy?Have you ever seen all your life's beliefs crumbling before your very existence? I did.I stayed up all night watching the moon switching duties with the sun, yet I couldn't shrug the feeling of guilt from my conscious despite it being my papa's wrongdoing and not mine. It latched onto me stubbornly like a soul-sucking leech. Everytime my eyes closed, the entire scene resurfaced in my mind, tormenting me, punishing me on my father's behalf. I still couldn't believe my own eyes. Or my mind. Or my mind's eyes I wasn't sure. It could be a sheer hallucination. He could be using drugs or trickery-like something to manipulate me into believing his accusations. But...It all seemed so real. Felt so real. Like I was present right there when it happened. The sounds of gun still echoed in my ears, and the smell of blood lingered in my nose. And those lifeless eyes still haunted me. It was r

Chapter 14
I gulped, slowly turning back to face an angry looking Hades. He was staring at me in a hostile glare, his lips curled and jaw clenched. His huge figure was seething with rage. "I. Asked. What. Are. You. Doing. In. My. Room?" he gritted out. I gulped, freezing in my spot. "I-I... I was-I-" "Get out!" he snapped. A squeal left me, before I ran past him and out of his room. By the time I was in the kitchen, my heart was pounding in my chest and not from running, but from his mere presence. He always looked like he was on the verge of choking someone with his bare hands, and most of the times, I was in the center of that intemperate attention. And suddenly I wanted to change that. I glanced at the huge square clock on the wall in the living room. It was fifteen minutes till seven o'clock. My eyes widened before I ran to the fridge. Getting the food out, I heat them up quickly in the oven and set them in a tray. The clock hit seven right when I put the tray on the dining table, an

Chapter 15
My eyes scanned around the golden-lighted room, spotting at least fifteen to twenty men sporting the leather lounges lining the walls. All cladded in extravagant suits and curious gazes. My nostrils filled with rich, masculine scents, like spice and earth combined with cigarette and whiskey, making me dizzy in the head. One look at them, and you'd know they were the wrong group of men to be near. I felt the heat of their eyes scorching me in all the places set in exhibition for the world. One of them even drawled up to his feet as he visibly checked me out. My eyes widened. Without another thought, I turned around, reaching for the door. Instead my face collided with a hard chest. The belongings on the tray rattled with the impact. A hand placed under mine, stopping the accident from occuring, and another wrapped around my waist, steadying me. "Easy there," a deep male voice spoke.I looked up, meeting a pair of dark blue eyes and a darker smirk. A shiver ran down my spine. Twisti

Chapter 16
His eyes came my way, filled to the brim with cold, dark fury. "What did you just say?" The red alert in his irked tone sent a tremble down my legs, but the anger in me wasn't backing down either. "Exactly what you heard." I jutted my chin feigning confidence that I didn't have. He turned all the way to me, his broad shoulders rising up and down in deep, rugged breaths. "You knew, didn't you?" I yelled. "You have been watching me getting harassed by those men." The words hurt my tongue from the spiked adversity they carried. He didn't respond, just watched me with that challenging fire in his gaze, like saying, "Go on if you got the guts."Well, good thing my guts were on fire today. "How could you have done this to me? How could you stoop so low?" I wiped away the lone tear that rolled down my cheek. "All this time you have stepped on me. Insulted me. Hurt me. Even spewed shit about my papa. Yet I never said a thing to you. But now this? How could you? Who gave you the right to

Chapter 17
Blood, blood and more blood. Someone groaned, a woman wailed and the others dragged the mutilated bodies on their shoulders. One by one, three men were brought and taken to a building nearby. They had gashes like claw marks on their chests and backs. One even had half of his cheek hanging by a fraction of skin as red liquid continuously poured out, reddening his white shirt, or whatever was left of it. A bile rose up my throat from the scene. The metallic stench of blood filling the atmosphere wasn't helping either. My hand shot to my mouth, and I ran to the side. Freeing my stomach of whatever little food I ate in the morning, I wiped my lips and took a moment to gather what I just saw. Those claw marks. They were either from an animal or metal claw weapons or...These people were too strong and powerful for an animal or weapons to tackle them into such bad shapes. My heartbeat stilled. It was here, wasn't it? The monster was here. It was coming to get me.The feminine sobs in

"Gisella!" My head whipped to the other side in the direction of the voice. Nola stood there, her eyes wide. I turned back only to meet with stark emptiness. The wolf was gone. I blinked, squinted my eyes around through the spreading dark and frowned. "What are you doing out here at this late?" Nola came rushing towards me. Leaning on the tree, I got to my feet. "D-Did you see that? Did you see the wolf?" I asked, frantically looking from her to the other direction. "W-Wolf? No, I didn't." "But it was here. It was right here." I pointed a feet away from me. "C-Could be. It's the woods. There are wild animals. That's why it's not safe for you here." I glanced at her. "It's not safe for me there either." At this, her expression turned into one of pity. "Helen told me what happened. I'm sorry I shouldn't have left you alone." I sighed. Even if she was with me, she wouldn't be able to save me from the hatred they already held close to their hearts. "Let's go." "I don't want t

Chapter 19
I felt my soul leaving my body. Right before the device hit the ground, my foot pushed in the direction. A gasp left me as pain shot throughout the bones in my leg. Bending down, I held the throbbing spot. "My phone!" Maria yelled, coming and picking it up. She rubbed it clean like it was her baby. Thank the Lord, it didn't break though it most definitely broke a few metatarsals in my foot. "The fuck were you doing, slave?" I had to crane my neck to look up at Tera. She looked furious as always. "You're fucking stealing now?" I shook my head. "N-No. I-I..." My heart pounded in my chest. I couldn't be caught. Not when I was so close to my salvation. "It was at the edge. I hit it accidentally." "You think I will believe you?" She spat. Then a smirk took over her face. "Wait till the Alpha hears about this." I felt the colors draining from my face. "N-No, no-""Tera," Nola spoke finally, "no need to stretch it. We have been here the whole time. She wouldn't dare do anything." T

Chapter 20
It was time. I pulled myself to a sitting position. It was still dark outside, but it wouldn't be for long. I glanced to my side at the emptiness of the bed. Nola was gone. Getting up, I fished out a few pillows I found in her closet and lined them up, covering all the way to the head pillow. Satisfied by my representative for the next few hours until someone figured out, I took a black scarf from her drawer and headed out. Luckily no one was at the hallway- My breath got caught in my throat when a woman appeared at the other end. She had her hands on her eyes rubbing vigorously, then she stilled. I was too far in to go back unnoticed. So I did what my panicked brain suggested me to do. I twisted the knob of the nearest door and slid in. Her footsteps approached, then paused and continued back down the hallway. I could just imagine her looking around baffled and blaming it as hallucination on lack of sleep. I let out a breath of relief which got abruptly cut in the middle. I
