The waitress sets down three tall glasses of water, all filled to the brim with ice. Luk grabs a glass closer to his side of the table like I'm a wild animal who will cut his arm off if he touches my water.Okay, it's not that far from the truth. The other two glasses end up on each side of me, leaving room for the plate of food that has yet to be delivered. A restaurant that serves breakfast twenty-four hours a day and an ice maker. The Last Chance isn't so bad.Of course, I'm eating this meal with a man who walks around with a bag of guns. After Lukis finished unloading his sacks of destruction, he had three reasonably-sized guns lying on the bed. And when I say reasonably, I mean they were regular-sized. Still big, and guns, but not so big and scary I wanted to run away with my arms flailing... much. There's a double-barrel shotgun I'm pretty sure people only use in Westerns, and the most reasonable of the pack is a tiny black pistol. He laid them all out on the bedspread like t

Even though the temperature is already soaring at 8:30 in the morning, no other families gather at the pool. Apparently, all those men surveying the mines don't feel like in a dip before the workday starts. Is Lukis here to spy on one of them? Is something dangerous going on in the mines?Either way, it is not my problem. I plan to sit in the sun, burn off the top layer of epidermis, and figure out what in the heck I'll do with my life and how I will get home.Lukis isn't a guy I can bum a ride from out of here. I lay the towel over the lounge chair and spread my body out on top. The backpack slides under the chair to keep it out of the sun's rays, and I take out one water bottle for easy access. My eyes flutter closed. I didn't get much sleep last night since I woke up every few minutes with lots of tossing and turning. That's what happens when you're sleeping next to a hot guy who promises he'll stay within his half of the bed but you aren't sure if you can trust him. Or if you w

The diner looks the same as it did when I ate here with Lukis. Probably because it happened two days ago. Except this time, rather than eating with a man who has a shady past that makes me curious, Antonio's past makes me nervous. Sure, I haven't seen Antonio's bag of guns, but what is he doing to have somebody chasing him with an arsenal of them? It can't be good."This one is nice," Antonio says to the large man following two steps behind us as he walks with his hand on the small of my back, guiding me to a booth in the middle of the restaurant.I try to sit on the seat opposite him, but he waits until I pick a side and sits next to me. His big honking goon slides across from us, scowling in my direction. Antonio didn't take time to introduce us when I met him by the office five minutes ago. The longer this goes on, the more I'm assuming we're supposed to pretend he's not there. The restaurant is nowhere near full but enough people are here to create a small noise level, which

The kiss continues until I'm gasping for breath when he pulls away."Promise me you won't see him tomorrow."I pull in a gasp of hot air from around us. "I promise."Lukis is wearing the same clothes he was when I left him, a Buffalo plaid button-down shirt, and without waiting, I unbutton it. Our tongues duel for possession of my mouth. My fingers scrape against the muscles on his upper chest, and I pull him closer. Needing to touch him.The second to last button is tight and won't fit through the buttonhole, so I fist the material and pull the shirt apart, exposing his muscular chest."Damn, Sugar Lips, this is one of my favorite shirts." Lukis steps back, allowing the shirt to fall from his shoulders, a huge smile displayed on his face.I shrug. "Don't worry. I'll buy you a new one."My pussy clenches as Lukis rubs his pelvis against mine, his belt digging into my jeans. His hands slide up either side of my body, taking my shirt with them. Luk's face falls between my b

"It's a little distance and dreadful place to eat. But it's not the motel restaurant so it will do for us. I never like to meet my business acquaintances close to where I'm staying," he says, sounding like a gangster."That sounds reasonable," I answer, even though it sounds not reasonable at all. How did I get wrapped up with two crazies?"I'll pick you up at four. Make sure you wear something suitable for the truckers," Antonio says, laughing as he ends the call like he made the funniest joke in the history of jokes. The bathroom door opens. I missed the water turning off over my phone conversation. Lukis steps out into the main room with his lower half covered only by a towel.Pity to waste such a view."Who were you talking to?" Lukis asks as I hurry to stuff the phone back under the bed."My uncle." The lies slip right out of my lips. I'm getting better at the subterfuge. "So, what are your plans?" I ask to hurry and get the attention off my fake phone call.Lukis un
