THE FATHER

“Who is the father?”, her father yelled angrily. He had every cause to be angry. She was his lucky prize, the one he planned to sell in marriage to the Slavcans but now she was pregnant… Kaliyah bowed her head as her father kept ranting. No, she didn’t bow her head in shame, she was trying to hide her facial expressions. As dire as the situation was, she couldn’t pull off that remorseful look that her father wanted. “Kaliyah! Are you even listening?”, her father screamed. Just then, her stepmother walked inside with a concerned expression on her face. Kaliyah scoffed, she knew better. “Your Highness”, Kaliyah bowed to greet her, the queen. “Shut the door”, the queen ordered the guards at the door of the courtroom. She then turned to the king, like Kaliyah never greeted her. “My king, I’ve been hearing rumors about Kaliyah getting pregnant, tell me that is not true”, she questioned. When her father didn’t reply, she turned to Kaliyah, “Kaliyah! How could you do this? Who is the f

PARTY IN THE INN

Kaliyah had lied to her father that she wanted to go to riding lessons with her friend when they had planned to go for a party at an inn which was supposedly at the border. It was rumoured that people from different clans and kingdoms visited that inn. Kaliyah and her friend, Anastasia desperately wanted to go.It was morning, her normally tranquil morning was disturbed by Anastasia’s noises. She had overslept!“Why are you still in bed?”, Anastasia screeched with her very little voice.“Oh goodness!,” Kaliyah exclaimed and jumped out of bed, “Rhaegal, get that dress ready, the one I picked last night quickly please”.“Yes princess but please slow down, it’s still too early to start your riding lessons”, Rhaegal stated as she watched the two girls make a mess while trying to hurriedly get ready.“We like early”, Anastasia replied with a weird smile. Rhaegal was beginning to doubt the “riding lessons” but she complied because the king had given his permission already. When Kaliyah was

DEAL WITH THE SLAVCAN PRINCE I

Brenna rode to her uncle’s house- her mother’s brother. He was part of the king’s court and would know a lot about the Slavcans. He was always one to help her out and accommodate her excesses. When the first queen died, she quickly related her intentions on being the next queen to him and he did his best to make sure she was where she was now. She arrived at his house and met him smoking outside. “Brenna, what are you doing outside the castle walls by this time?”, he scolded while sitting up. Brenna came down from the horse easily and ran to him, “Are you one to scold me for sneaking out while you’re smoking at your age”, she then sat down on the chair close by, “There’s an issue on ground, I just couldn’t sit still and fold my hands”. Her uncle, Morat threw the cigarette away and smiled, “About Princess Kaliyah?” Brenna hissed, “Even you have heard what happened” “Of course, I am Morat”, he said and chuckled, “For my wife to also have heard, then the news is fast spreading. Morat was outside waiting. He wondered what Brenna was up to. He immediately started regretting why he agreed to help her in the first place.Meanwhile, in the courtroom, Brenna had started her game already.“Yes, she is pregnant and as her mother, I have given her necessary punishments”, Brenna stated.“You couldn’t even take care of the Slavcan’s prince betrothed. Do you think the Tamars will get away with it?”, Valen said casually. That statement alone sent shivers down her spine.“But you claimed you loved her and chose her out of the many princesses you could easily get”, Brenna started, “You surely won’t let her slip from your grasp”.“Yes, I was intrigued by the stories I heard about her. The warrior princess. But I won’t marry her with another man’s child growing in her. I won’t marry her with the stupid man alive either”, he said with a low tone.“I will make sure that baby dies in her womb if you still want to marry her and I will make sure I find the father of the baby. The king, Kenna, and Kaliyah were already seated at the dining table. The servants were already placing the dishes on the table.“Kenna, where is the queen? Is she alright?”, the king asked.Kaliyah and Kenna’s eyes met at that moment and Kaliyah flashed her a smile which made Kenna uncomfortable.“She… she is. I met her before coming downstairs. She’ll be here soon”, Kenna replied.“Good, we have to see. Since Kaliyah has decided to be a disgrace to our family and to the kingdom, it’s good that you’ve been well behaved”, the king started. Kenna’s face turned sour while Kaliyah smiled widely.“We may have to call off Kaliyah’s engagement and have you take her stead”, the king concluded. Just then, Brenna walked in.“Your Highness”, she greeted and sat down.“You didn’t join us for dinner yesterday”, he replied.Brenna smiled, “Oh yeah, I was so weak yesterday, I had to go to bed early. What were you all talking about?”, she asked to divert the attention from her.“Father was just talk

DRAGON'S SEED II

“I am the father of the child”, Azar spoke up, “but she will not live, she must die”Ignis looked at him with anger, “You! You are to take after me as the oldest yet you are the one causing me pain. That girl will not die! She is carrying the child of a royal Draego. No one will touch her and she must come here”.“Ignis, you have to understand that that human will be his weakness and he needs strength”, the empress replied.Edgan and Zayn turned to Azar, they were trying to think of any human girl they saw him with.Ignis turned to his wife to reply to her, “If you read that letter, you see that her father is about to sell her off through a marriage alliance to the Slavcan prince, do you want Azar’s child to grow with the Slavcans?”“Then it's simple, if her survival or her existence will cause us discomfort and trouble then she and her child should die”, the empress replied with equal intensity. She didn’t want a human on their land. She’d rather die than watch Azar couple with a hum

TAKING THE PRINCESS

News of the dragon sighted in the Tamar kingdom was quick to spread even among neighboring kingdoms. The humans were afraid as no dragon had visited the humans in its dragon form for years now and this dragon that visited was a royal one.Azar was unaware of the uproar he had caused and quietly entered the throne room. He was silent but his presence was loud enough because even King Elliot was almost trembling. Azar met the king, the chief commander, and Morat, an adviser to the king there. He was quickly given a seat to sit down. The king started speaking, “You are highly welcome to our land. To what do we owe this unexpected visit?”, he spoke politely.“I am Azar and I want to talk in the presence of the royal family of this land”, he said in his deep and rough voice without a care in the world. The atmosphere became tense.“Excuse me highly revered, but we are here. You can talk to us”, Morat was quick to say.The king cut him off, “It’s fine, Morat. Order a soldier to bring the Qu

A STEP AHEAD

“I assume you’ve also been taking good care of her as she’s carrying my child”, Azar spoke in his low voice and this was enough to shake the room.“What are you saying, great dragon?” the king managed to say when he finally found his voice.Kenna and Brenna turned to look at Kaliyah with shocked expressions. Everyone in the room was shaken. Kaliyah appeared to not be affected.“Or is she not pregnant? You dare try to marry her off to the Slavcans when she is carrying a royal dragon?” Azar said in his usual low voice slowly. The king immediately turned to Kaliyah, “Princess Kaliyah, care to explain what he is saying?”“Kaliyah stood up and bowed, “He is the father of the child I am carrying”Kenna could not take it anymore. She stood up angrily, “Kaliyah, where on earth did you meet a dragon, and when?”Azar’s eyes remained fixed on the king, “Is she perhaps trying to call me a liar?”The king looked at Kenna worriedly, “Kenna please sit down and do not talk till you are permitted to”.

AWAITING KALIYAH

“Please do not feel threatened by your father’s words, there is no need to bring a human here”, the empress begged Azar, following him to his room upstairs. “I have gone to her family to inform them that I would be picking her up in three days”, Azar replied when they finally arrived at his room. “You are not listening to me or do you care about the lowly human?”, the empress asked. “Please accept my decision with good faith”, Azar replied and shut the door to his room, leaving his mother outside. She turned around angrily. “What would people say of the royal family? The human can never match the strength and beauty of a dragon female!” She doubted she could stop him from bringing her so she was only going to make sure the human begs to go back to wherever she came from. She went to meet her husband, the emperor in his room. He was reading a parchment with his round-rimmed glasses when she entered. He looked up when he heard someone enter. “I want to talk to you”, she said. He

THE DRINK

Kaliyah was being attended to by Rheagal when a maid quickly rushed in. “I’m sorry Your Highness, the king and the physician are on their way here”, the maid said with her head bowed. Thankfully, Kaliyah was already dressed. “You may leave”, she dismissed the maid. “Why is the physician coming here?”, Rheagal asked no one in particular. In less than a minute, the king and the physician were already at her door. Rheagal met them at the door. “I want to see Kaliyah”, the king said with a grim expression. “Let them in”, Kaliyah’s voice was heard from inside the room. Rheagal reluctantly made space for them to enter. They entered with 2 maids carrying trays without them. “Do you want to kill your father and finish this kingdom? Why haven’t you been taking your medicine when you know you are pregnant with a dragon’s child? You should take care of yourself!”, the King said and then motioned to a maid to move forward. She was carrying a tray with a glass of the herbal drink. She was
