Ben woke as per his normal body clock but stayed in bed with Dana nestled in his embrace. This sleeping posture had become their norm. Ben noted that Dana’s sleep was not as calm or peaceful once he left the bed, so he decided to stay in bed as they had slept late. His lips curled up as he thought of his life thus far. He had never felt more peaceful or complete. He remembered what his father once said during their conversations about knowing who the right person was. “Ben, there is no right or wrong… no perfect formulae, no one mold that fits all. When you meet the right person, you will know. Your inner world regardless of the storm outside will be peaceful and complete.” He decided that it was time to impart this wisdom to Bertie even though he knew his lawless brother would roll his eyes. Dana stirred another 3 hours later. She opened her eyes to stare into two pools of passion. “Morning” Dana smiled sheepishly as she realized that he was waiting for her. “Very good morning w

“Ben” Dana called softly as she sat up in bed, tying her hair into a knot. “Umm” Ben responded lazily as he caressed her back. She didn’t know how to start the conversation. She had tossed and turned feeling uncomfortable since she woke up and remembered her conversation with Mark yesterday. “Ben” She called again. “Umm” “I will be meeting with Mark, my ex-husband today at midday.” Ben sat up, every cell in his body was alert. He subconsciously felt threatened. He remembered Tael’s call yesterday afternoon saying Dana was looking depressed. He wondered if that bastard had convinced Dana to go back with him. A hundred thoughts raced through his mind making him uncomfortable. Dana turned to look at him as she felt the sudden movement behind her. “Why are you telling me this?” He looked at her alertly. She tilted her head, her eyes narrowed, and lips curled upwards ‘He looked really cute, like a kid whose favorite toy was about to be snatched off’. Not getting a response he pull

“Dring…. Dring… Dring” Ben picked up the phone but instead of Tael… Dana’s voice floated through “We have done our best to ensure all your previous requests have been met” there was a pause before her voice continued to float “I would like to open the floor to any final comments before handing over to our director for signing” Realizing that Tael was letting him eavesdrop, he muted his phone. “This…” a deep voice hesitant voice floated through “we have been doing some thinking as well; our requirements have slightly changed" “Oh..” Dana seemed to have deliberately dragged the syllable “You see, the board of directors have decided to open the training session to all employees and this would change the previously discussed number from 50 to at least 200.” The male voice from before continued. “Ah… yes, this would definitely require adjustments to this plan" a long pause followed, then Dana’s voice floated “However I am still obliged to remind you that requesting a 4th set of revis

The rest of the delegates sat down again as Garret sat down. He was not willing to let go of this interaction. This was the first time he was impressed by a woman. He wanted to use this opportunity to show his sincerity. “How would that be fair on your team?” Garret asked as he stared at Dana. “We” Dana smiled brightly as she looked at her team members “got your humility and learned 2 lessons” “And a report for loss of contract to submit” Paul added cynically on the sideline. Everyone laughed as Garret stared intently at Dana. ‘This seemingly ordinary woman was different, he never felt like he wanted to know a woman before’. He would be attracted to a woman occasionally, but the attraction was limited to their body, he has never wanted to know a woman before. Dana didn’t notice Garret’s gaze as she was shaking her head at Paul. ‘Oh Ben!’ Tael lamented inwardly as he looked at his phone that still connected to Ben’s. “Let’s cooperate” Garret announced. Dana and the team looked ba

“Let’s go” Ben led her to the car park. Dana walked nestled in Ben’s embrace without turning back. Tears streamed down as she sat in the car. She quickly wiped them off, not wanting Ben to see her in a miserable state. Shadow started the car and lifted the back partition. He wanted to give them privacy. Ben pulled her into his embrace and held her tightly “You don’t have to be brave in front of me. Cry if you want… yell …. howl …whatever makes you feel better. I will accompany you by your side.” Dana didn’t want to cry but tears streamed down continuously. She sobbed miserably; she couldn’t control them… it only got worse. Although he told her to cry, he felt like his heart was being squeezed tightly ‘That bastard. He would make him pay!’ After crying for a while, Dana felt better now that all the pent-up emotions had been released. She lifted her head from his embrace and looked at him as she suddenly thought ‘this was not where he was supposed to be. How did he get here?’ “I … y
