Anna's POV Yet to get over the death of my mother, another devastating news came in. The news of my stepfather's death shook me so hard that I felt like I was breaking into minute pieces. Even though we were not on good terms, I still treated him like family but now he was gone. Before now, I had been hoping and wishing for the perfect time to make him pay for all that he had done but the time never came. Now in the hallway, I was holding onto the wall for support as I walked towards my chambers. I was walking extremely slow, so I wouldn't crash into anything since my eyes were heavy with tears. “He was murdered by the same person that killed my mother. Stepfather wouldn't kill himself because he lost his mate.” I muttered, blinking my eyes to clear my vision. Still holding onto the wall, I snapped my head upwards only to see the maids and guards giving me a pitiful look. Immediately they discovered I was staring in their direction, they shifted their gaze aside and then

Anna's POV With Maya still in the chamber with me, I was racking my head on the suggestion she had tendered. “Anna, you shouldn't pity your enemies. If you keep doing this, they would think you're a weakling and would keep attacking you.” Maya pressed on. She had suggested we accosted Selena on our own and get her to confess to her crimes. It might have sounded easy, but it was a difficult task for one to embark on. “It's not about pity. It's not easy, you know.” I allowed my shoulders to slump only to dig my hand into my hair the next minute as a low wince escaped from my lips. Wrapping my hand around myself, I shut my eyes tightly, trying to come up with a better plan but my head was blank. “I know it's not easy but if we sit back and do nothing, she will come up with something else. Like I said, Selena is not someone who gives up easily.” “I know.” “So what are you waiting for?” She snapped. Holding my hand, she slid through the door and soon she was crouchin

Selena's POV Still wearing a smirk, I crouched beside the corpse of Elena whose eyes were wide open. “Have a good rest, you have been a good ally but I can't risk leaving you alive, not after everything you know.” I mused, closing her eyes. After I emptied the contents of my glass, I pushed my hair away from my face but it kept falling and with frustration surging through me, I tied it in a messy bun. “You need to get out of here.” I grabbed her leg and then yanked my door open. Since she was light weighted, it was easy to pull her out of my room. All I needed was just to ensure that no one saw me until I was done with my mission. Things went on smoothly for the first few minutes until I began to hear footsteps. Thinking it belonged to one of the maids, I didn't look around until the owner stopped walking. “Who…” The rest of my words died in my throat when I saw my father glaring at me from behind. For the next few minutes, I just stood there, staring at my fath

Anna's POV It had been a few minutes now since Maya took her leave, leaving me all alone in the chambers. For some reason, I kept looking in the direction of the doors hoping it would fling open and then Lillian would come in or even Alpha Jasper. I'm not going to lie; even though we joked about the way he reacted to disrespect, I was scared. I was scared that he was going to hurt me because of the way I had spoken to him. If only I could wound back the hands of time, I bet I wouldn't have spoken to him in that manner and then I would have nothing to worry about. Taking in a deep breath, I pushed my hand into my hair and then began to tug on it as I stared into space. Apart from thinking of the punishment I was bound to receive from Alpha Jasper, my mind was also preoccupied with the reason why he had decided to cover up for Selena when he knew fully well that she was the perpetrator. Alpha Jasper wasn't someone to be regarded as dumb. He was intelligent, and nothi

Selena's POV With Elena out of the way now, I was in my chamber, sitting on the edge of my bed with my hands resting under my chin. “Ugh!” I sighed for the hundredth time within five minutes. Since I returned from disposing of Elena's body so the rogue would come feast on it, since she was an omega and slave and doesn't deserve a proper burial; my head kept making up scenarios which was throwing me off balance. “What am I going to do now?” I muttered. Now, walking from one end of my room to the other with my hand resting on my waist, I had my gaze on the ground, trying not to think so much about it, but I couldn't help. Father's words kept ringing in my head and I knew for certain that he wasn't bluffing. He was going to keep with his words of handing me over to Alpha Jasper when he finally learned I was the one behind the killings. Anyway, I doubt if that would ever happen. Everyone who was linked had been killed, and I didn't give them the chance to even confe
