chapter 61
I may not hate Dimitri anymore but I don't think I'm ready to trust him yet. Even with his confession, I don't think I can. For all I know, he could be lying to me for whatever reason. And I'm too scared to dip myself into this again only to get burned. I have been burned more than enough. Though, I like every single moment of the explosive sex between us and I want to keep fucking him so that is just want I am going to do. Keep everything simple and without feelings so that when it blows up in my face, I will have little to nothing to lose. I let out a sigh as I slid my top over my head and pulled my hair into a ponytail. When I emerge from the bedroom into the kitchen area, Dimitri is making breakfast. My stomach grumbles at the aromatic smell that fills the air. Dimitri is dressed in his usual black pants, and black shirt with boots. His hair is slicked back. Overall his muscular frame looks so sexy from behind. I don't make myself known, I just watch his massive form from the

chapter 62
I blow out a breath before I start walking to the IT unit headed by Seraphina. The last thing I want is to come face to face with Seraphina but I don't really have a choice. I need to learn how to use these devices for our mission in the moonstone pack. My hand has just wrapped around the doorknob when a hushed voice streams out of the room. I halt in my step."It is never going to be you." The voice I recognize to be Nox's. I have never heard her sound this heated up when talking to her sister. "Why don't you get it?" "No, everything was good and fine when she wasn't here. She ruined everything for me." Seraphina says, her voice dripping with disdain. "No, she didn't. Even if she wasn't here, it was never going to be you." Nox says. "So get over yourself and stop what you are plotting." Her voice sounds firm. "I don't want to be the one to stop you, Seraphina, please." "I'm not plotting anything. I know she is the one behind all these and I intend on getting her punished for it wh

My restraint has turned freckled and I dangle on the verge of erupting into a chaotic ball of volcano by the time it was afternoon the following day. Pushing me into a pond wasn't the end of Elena's cruelty. She proceeded to torment me with the pettiness thing to the most outrageous things which she claimed were unintended— they were very much intended— and they have all piled up like a roll of cancerous stone inside of me.Presently, I'm on the floor in the hall used for the alliance party because Elena has somehow managed to make me trip, causing me to bruise my palms in the process. My fingers drag along the tiled marble floor as I send a deadly glare towards Elena. She smirks at me. Dimitri is by my side in no time. "Are you okay?" He wraps a hand around my waist and helps me to my feet. "I'm fine." I wince when the bruise on my hand scraps against the fabric of my clothes. I'm not fine but I am not able to be whine in a room filled with members of the both packs. "Are you su

"No," Dimitri says firmly as soon as the door closes behind us. I trail behind him into the room. "Yes." "No." He swirls around catching me off guard and causing me to crash into him. "No." His voice is a low assertive growl. Dimitri holds me on my shoulder before I backpedal, putting a little gap between us. Dimitri paces the room before using his thumb to rub the creases on his forehead. "You won't be fighting, Elena, Lynexia. We will inform her tomorrow that it was mpulsive and get over it." My hand fists into a ball beside me. I would rather work over a hot iron than retract my word. "No, I will not say such a thing " "Why are you being so stubborn right now? What you did is reckless. The mine is one of our most important resources." Dimitri genuinely sounds frustrated with me. "What were you thinking?" "Are you implying that I can't beat Elena in a fight," I question. I don't know what hurts more. Dimitri chastising me or him not believing that I can actually put Elena in h

chapter 65
Every booming voice from the arena echoes in my head like hammer blows even though I'm a wall away. My breath comes in muddled gasps, each one fighting against the tightening in my chest. My thoughts clash together like a storm making my mind dizzy and taking deep breaths does nothing to calm the storm within me. As time ticks by, my uneasiness gnaws louder. What ifs of what could happen mess with my already fucked up mind. I have spent the whole night doing analysis and going through steps of how to make this fight a win and it still doesn't feel like I have done enough. I have gone through every encounter I have had with Elena multiple times just for her weaknesses and strengths and her manner of approaches when she attacks until my mind blurs yet...The door swings open, jolting me from my thoughts. My head whips towards it as relief pools in my stomach thinking it's Dimitri. The relief drains out of me as quickly as it comes and my face tightens into a scowl at the sight in fr

chapter 66
The fight begins on a promising note. Lynexia follows my instructions meticulously, avoiding direct combat with Elena unless absolutely necessary. Instead, she focuses on blocking Elena's attack, something Elena fails to realize due to her arrogance. Elena struggles to adapt without her wolf powers, her movement less fluid while Lynexia's training without her wolf powers gives her a clear advantage. A sense of relief washes over me as Elena's movement becomes increasingly choppy and she no longer lands kicks and punches on Lynexia. Watching Lynexia get kicked and punched occasionally has been an eyesore for me. Every time this happens, I have to hold my legs to the ground so I don't put a stop to the fucking fight. As the fight continues, the once thunderous claps of the crowds have dwindled to a distant murmur mirroring the decreasing probability of Elena winning the fight. From the beginning, I do not doubt that Lynexia is going to win this fight. While Elena would have been a

When I crack my eyes open, Dimitri is right beside me, asleep and his fingers intertwined with mine. Sunlight streams in through the curtain painting stripes on his face. His brows are furrowed slightly but his breathing is even and slow. A smile tugs my lips as I watch him sleep. I reach for his face. As my fingers brush his skin, he stirs awake. "Lyn." He calls, his voice heavy with sleep. He sits up, concern creasing his face. "You are awake. How do you feel?" Though I still feel a dull ache in my rib, I lie. "Better." My voice sounds stronger than I feel. At the arena, I saw my life flash right in front of my eyes. I don't actively go about my day thinking about how precious life is but being on the verge of death made me wish that I had done things differently. It made me wish I let go of my fears and do whatever the hell I wish to do and I will be doing so from now on. Dimitri stares at me, a reflection of guilt in his eyes. "It isn't your fault." His grip tightens on m

Elena's eyes hold a hint of sincerity that will fool anyone but I know better. "Believe Alpha Dimitri," she blinks rapidly. "I will never do anything to purposely cause harm to Lynexia." She has the look of a person that can't kill an ant but Elena is someone that will kick a puppy if she gets annoyed. I scoff at the blatant lie. Her acting skills are off the chart. I give her that. When Dimitri demanded retribution for what Elena did to me in the fighting ring. She cooked up a perfect tale about how someone put a very toxic potion that makes wolves go rogue into her drink before the fight. Conveniently absolving herself of the consequences of her actions. "So who is this person who poisoned you in question?" I ask Elena, crossing my arms over each other. Alpha Henry who has been silent motions to one of the guards who then ushers Dais, Elena's supposedly househelp into the room. Unbelievable. Elena planned this out from the beginning. Her intention was to kill me and make Dais

The next morning goes smoothly and drama-free. With Elena no longer constantly on my tail, I can install the devices Seraphina gave me just as she instructed. Going back home to have Elena 2.0—Seraphina— bug me about my incompetence if I don't get the device installed isn't something I want as a welcome-back gift. There is only one device left to be installed and it will be installed in Alpha Henry's study where most of his important meetings take place. Standing in front of Alpha Henry's door, my eyes do a last sweep of the deserted hallway. Though, I don't have to worry about anyone catching me since Dimitri is keeping them busy for five minutes I can't be too sore. Inhaling, I slip into Alpha's Henry study. The room lacks a CCTV camera due to the conversations that are being held here which works in my favor. Swiftly, I cross the room, rounding the central desk nestled against the far wall. I bend down and place the device in the intended location where it cannot be detected.

Chapter 70
Contrary to what Elena said, my life has been a far cry from misery. Things have been so good and progressive between me and Dimitri. We are currently at the point where the sex has gotten intimate, our conversations have become something deeper, and I find myself spending more time in the Alphahouse than ever before. After what happened at the Moonstone pack, we have become more drawn to each other though I'm in a state of panic at the thought of opening my heart more to Dimitri. I am scared this will blow up in my face. I'm scared that Dimitri will break me into pieces and shatter my heart into ruins and this time I fear I will never recover. So, I tell myself things are still casual between us because I'm scared to confront the stage Dimitri and I are in. Today is the annual festival of Shadow Pack and in one week, my daughter will be getting her surgery. I'm filled to the brim with excitement. Words cannot describe how much I miss my daughter. I can't wait to see her beautiful
