Lucian’s POV It was very early in the morning when I decided to leave for the pack for my last heist. If I had to get everything on the list and also take time to see the situation of the pack I needed to go earlier, I took my trusted dagger and I tucked it in my boots, one around a sheath on my waist.I was set to go, I took a bottle of herb I had squeezed before going to bed earlier, I had made more research on numbing medications for the pain and also slow the process of the contamination, I could already feel my body feeling much better compared to how I felt earlier .It was still dark outside and the pack was quiet. I don’t know how long it was going to take on the road and I might have another breakdown. So I prepared some lettuce leaves and some carrot sticks for Ella’s bunny, and I walked over to Selene’s quarters, I dropped it at the door so it was the first thing she saw when she woke up. I was aware of her aim to make this mission impossible, but it had to be done, one w

Lucian’s POV The lady glanced at me with a questioning look, she tried to reach out to me but I moved away, clutching the strap of my bag, I walked away from the town, it was obvious there was a party being held in the pack house.I could not remember any need for a pack to celebrate at the time of the year, and it wasn’t even winter yet, so why would Aex host a party inside the pack house? Was he trying to avoid the consequences of his actions? It made no sense, but then again things stopped making sense the moment Alex had a say in the pack, though I came to get something’s for Selene, it would cause no harm if I checked out the pack house myself, besides the farm was just beside it.I made sure my scarf was tied firmly around my face to avoid being noticed and I walked over to the pack house where I found a new set of people at the foot of the pack, they had their bowls in their hands as they sat. Fear gripped me.This was preposterous, I took a glance at the pack house which gl

Lucian’s POV Seated on the table, my fingers clenched into a hard ball, my insides were sore, and before me stood a tall glass of water, and a tray of meat, my mouth salivated, I haven’t eaten in five days, my insides ache so badly, but eating would require that I removed my mask.I couldn’t. And I won’t.Pike sat before me with his daughter by his side, she leaned closer to him again then whispered something into his ears, I watched his demeanor change, whatever she must have told him definitely didn’t sit right with him. I watched her leave back then wink at me.I glanced at the water again, what would it cost to have a taste of such beauty.“Concerning the Favour you wanted me to accomplish at Eclipse pack, I hope it gladdens your heart to know that I look forward to meeting up with that prick of an Alpha Alexander.” My head snapped, and my attention drew from the cup to the man before me.“But.” There was always a but, why would I think Pike would voluntarily do anything, I sagg

Selene’s POV It’s been a week now I haven’t heard from Lucian, my mind hasn't been at rest ever since, I wasn’t entirely excited with this development because he promised to be here, he drove off that night in a fit of rage, maybe he was attacked. “Chief, is this amount of sand enough?” A farmer by my side said, I must have zoned out because he was standing way too close to me, and staring into my eyes curiously, I moved away from him. Narrowing my eyes to the sand pile in his shovel, I nodded in agreement, I just needed some space for the meantime, it wasn’t making any sense anymore, he was taking way too long. What if Alex saw him? What if he was trying to avoid Alex and didn't come back, I shouldn’t have given him that list, I should have told you I just didn't want him to keep doing things for me, either way the pack would survive he just had to stop with his chivalry. I walked away from the farm land and the new project, then into the pack. We have been thriving without the p

Lucian’s POV I held the necklace a little bit tighter. I thought about Ella. Alex truly lost everything when he left that little girl to die, but that has passed now because everything he held dear to himself was about to be stripped away from him.“Is she your daughter?”“I wish.” I responded. Ella was conceived the year I left the pack. If her mother hadn’t remained when she was supposed to be with me, she would be mine, but nothing changes. I would still care for her like she was mine, and so would the little child close to being born."Oh, I see. Then she must admire you then, with all the work you have done for rogues, you might be seen as a messiah.” She said.I do not see myself as a messiah, but Ella was different; she said she loved me. My cheeks burnt a little bit more as I remembered her saying it to me. Most of my loyalty came from fear and expectation. Ella never had fear, she would pull my cheeks and tug my legs even when her mother wouldn’t. “Well, I just wanted to sa
