Mia's POVIt was early in the morning. I assumed Ethan was still sleeping, so I kept to myself for a while. I made myself a bowl of cereal and retreated back to my room to enjoy them. I decided to call Emily on my new phone. She was the only person aside from my mom who I knew would be up this early.“Hello?” She answered, a little suspiciously. “Hey.” I said, shoveling a spoonful of cheerios into my mouth as I sat on my bed. “Mia?” She said, “Whose number is this?”“Sorry.” I said, forgetting. “I got a new phone. Save this number.”“Oh, right! Ethan did mention that, he said you were getting a new number, I was just too busy with the wedding rehearsal that I forgot…”I chuckled at her. “How are you?”“Fine.” Emily sighed. “I’m just taking Joe for a walk.”Joe was Emily’s family dog. He had to be at least fifteen years old, and was still as energetic as he was when they first got him. The thought of Emily walking through the neighborhood in the early morning

Ethan's POVMia and I laid together for an hour before she finally fell asleep in my arms. I couldn’t believe how lucky I had become to find a woman like her. All I wanted was to make her mine. The past few days had been a whirlwind, and my mind was completely preoccupied. I hoped that once we were back to Greenbrooke that we could finally have a chance to talk about everything that had happened between us.I snuck out of the bedroom after quickly dressing and came out into the main seating area of the jet. As soon as I sat down with my laptop at a nearby table, Ryan called me. Lately it seemed we only talked when bad things happened and I was getting tired of that narrative. “Hello?” I answered, hoping for some good news.“Hey.” Ryan sounding fatigued. “Are you on your way back to Greenbrooke?”“Yep.” I cleared my throat. “We’re headed there now. I want to get ahead of this Victoria situation before it gets out of hand.”“She’s acting like a total nut.” Ryan was righ

Mia's POVBy the time we made it back to my house, the morning routine was already in full effect. I told Ethan I wanted him to be with me when I told my family the news. As we walked inside, the smell of bacon seemed to fill every corner of the house. “Mom!” I called out from the foyer. “Allie!”“In here!” I heard Allie’s voice say from the kitchen. We followed the sound of her voice to the kitchen to find Allie frying bacon and placing biscuits in a baking dish. When she saw that Ethan was with me, she lit up.“Hey!” she started wiping her flour dusted hands on her apron. “I didn't know we were having company. Are you staying for breakfast?”“I'd love to.” Ethan smiled.“I'm Allie, by the way.” She said, extending a hand out to him. “I'm Mia’s older sister.”“Ethan Black.” He shook hands with her. “I'm Mia’s… boyfriend.”I couldn't believe where life had taken me in only a few short weeks. Ethan and I shared a smile, and my heart fluttered when he looked at me.“

Ethan's POVAfter breakfast at Mia’s parent’s house, the day was nonstop. I had Hector take me straight to the warehouse site for the mall project. I had a feeling Victoria was still working overtime to destroy my project, and I wasn’t about to let her win. When I arrived at the job-site, the head contractor, Darren Wess, was already there. As soon as Hector opened my door I was ambushed by the local news crew. Cameras flashed and journalists shouted questions at me as I stepped out of the car. “Mr. Black!” One shouted. “Tell us what you plan to do about the homeless crisis in Greenbrooke.”“Mr. Black!” Another called out. “Is it true Victoria Sinclair bribed most of your workers? Is she trying to sabotage you because of your romantic history?”I waved them off as I pushed through the crowd. Hector created a barrier around me with his hands as we made our way onto the job-site. Darren Wess was already talking to his team of workers about the day. He nodded at me as I jo

Ethan's POVWe all seemed to be frozen in time as Mia held Emily in her arms. I couldn’t believe that Jake had actually shot her, and I prayed, for his sake, that Emily was still alive. “Don’t just stand there, you idiots!” Mia shouted at the three of us as we all stood there watching. “Someone call 911!” The three of us snapped out of our trance as we hopped into action. Hector ran behind the front desk to use the phone while I kicked the gun away with my foot and pushed Jake to the floor. I bound his arms behind his back and held him tightly.“It’s okay, baby.” I said to Mia as she held Emily. “It’s going to be okay.”She nodded, but I could tell that she was terrified. After Hector hung up with the police, he came over to take Jake from me.“Go ahead, sir.” He said. “I’ve got this guy.”“Thank you.” I nodded as we traded places. I ran to Mia’s side and wrapped an arm around her as she tried her best to stay calm. She was shaking as she held Emily, and I cou
