Vivian’s POVQuietly, I came out of my bedroom and went to the living room. The hostility I met in the living room almost made me run back to my room.Dad, Manny and Ted were all glaring at me.“Vivian?” Dad started with a very gruff voice; one I had heard him only use on either Manny or Ted when they had done something really bad.“Yes, dad,” I answered meekly. Maybe it was the fact that I suspected that they already knew, that was why I acted guilty. Maybe if I had acted confidently, they probably wouldn’t have rounded me up like that.“Why did you have your bedroom locked?” Dad asked, looking at me squarely. “You know it is against the rules to leave your bedroom door locked,” he added grossly.“But this isn’t fair,” I said calmly. “What isn’t?” Dad asked me.“Why don’t I get to lock my bedroom but Manny and Ted are always locking theirs whenever they choose?” I dared to ask.I could literally feel Manny and Ted’s intense gaze piercing into my skin.“So we are now questioning the

Syrus’s POVThe moment Syrus dashed out of the apartment, he hurried into his car and sped off. He took out his phone and read through the text message he had received when Vivian was still ranting.“I have found what you hold dear the most, Syrus Vale, and I am going to destroy your world with it.”Syrus could not stop thinking about it. If this was true, then he truly had a lot to be worried about. That singular message brought back Syrus’s dark past that no one knew about, not even his own mother. Years back, a man from the family’s company had visited them uninvited. At first, Nancy had been skeptical about letting them in; since Syrus’s father abandoned her, she became angry and bitter towards everyone that was closely associated with Mr. Vale. At that time, Syrus had just finished college, and was still thinking of what next he would do with himself.“What do you want here, Anderson?” Nancy had asked rudely.Syrus and Bonnie sat beside her on the sofa while Anderson, a senior

Syrus’s POVOn his way home, Syrus had felt grateful for the timely intervention of Anderson, and for the first time, he had been upset with his father.“You would have ruined things for me and left me with nothing,” Syrus said with clenched teeth. He knew his father was gallivanting around the world with the love of his life, but because they were all still financially catered for financially, he never knew that things were bad, and Syrus was certain that his mother had no idea about this. If not for Anderson, Syrus and his mother would have been disgraced and shamed nationally, and the company would have been handed to someone else completely. On the other hand, Syrus felt cornered. Anderson literally twisted Syrus’s hand, and Syrus, desperate to fix what he was at the brink of losing, agreed without hesitation. Anyway, as long as he did not demand for shares in the company, Syrus felt he could manage things. He looked at the note Anderson scribbled to him with an address. The addr

Syrus’s POVSyrus was almost close to his destination when he ended the call with Vivian. Sometimes, she could really be insensitive and downright naive, and it always pissed him off, just like now.He needed to see Ken; the text message Syrus got from him was too disturbing to waste another minute.Syrus arrived at a hotel somewhere in the city, and judging by the exterior of the hotel, it was quite a discreet place, which was good. The last thing he needed now was to run into someone he knew, or a bloody blogger. He could not afford a bad PR right now.Syrus entered the hotel and went straight to the receptionist.“Good day, sir,” the receptionist greeted warmly. “Welcome to our hotel; how may we be of service to you?” She asked nicely.“I am here to meet up with someone,” Syrus said tightly. He was already feeling sick by the mere thought of seeing Ken after all these years. What had started as a friendly beginning for both of them had turned sour, and Syrus could remember what riv

Vivian’s POVThree hours later after Syrus dashed off, I still hadn’t come up with an idea on how to get Syrus back to the apartment, and more importantly, get the money from him. I had tried every possible option and ruled them out almost immediately.“What do I do, my goodness?!” I asked myself, exasperated.I wasn’t used to these kinds of situations, and thinking for hours was beginning to wear me out. Without hesitation, I called Belinda. I know we weren’t exactly on speaking terms, but she was the only person I could think to call in situations like these. Belinda always knew what to do.“If you are calling to apologize, then forget about it,” Belinda said, still sounding upset.“Do you really mean that?” I asked, sounding like a little child and hoping that it would work. It had to work anyway, because this was my only hope.“Yes, I do,” Belinda said. “Work is a little tight now, Vivian; I can’t spend longer time on the phone,” Belinda added hastily.I knew that whether or not B
