Chapter 241It was late in the evening, Shawn had been working non-stop since he came back from seeing Norman. There had been lots of work to do in the company, especially when Norman and Victor were no longer in the picture. The whole workload had been on him and his father. He also had to continue the project that Norman was working on before he went to jail. Shawn stared at the letter on his desk that Norman sent to Ava. He fought the urge to open and read the content.“Is there something more between them?” He questioned the silence in his office. He was finally done with his tasks for the day. He picked up the letter and leaned back into his chair. Holding the letter up in his hand, he remembered how Norman had tried to blackmail Eva with something that happened between them some time back because he thought she was Ava. “This letter must be about that,” He stood up and put the letter in his jacket pocket. He grabbed his keys, switched his office light off, and stepped out

Shawn raised his eyebrows at Ava, but before he could say anything, she spoke first“Eva just picked up her drawing kits and started working on a new design that she saw in her dream. She had told dad that she was tired of staying home and wanted to resume her work as the head of the design team,”“Are you serious right now?” Shawn groaned in frustration.Ava nodded, “Yeah. But mummy was against it totally, so was I,” She quickly added. “Dad had to tell her to work from home until her baby was born.” “Okay, that's fair.” Shawn's tense body relaxed a bit. “I'll go see her later today. I've been occupied with work these days, and we haven't really talked this week,” Shawn said in a disappointed tone.Ava patted his shoulder, “Don't worry, she'll understand. I bet she doesn't feel the way you are feeling. She's been talking to a four year old every day.” Shawn's furrowed eyebrow relaxed, “Oh Maya!” He exclaimed. “Yes, that cute little girl.” Ava added, “That little kid is obsessed wit

“Ava,” Alice finally said to her, “How's your mum, I haven't seen her in a while. I hope she's okay?”Ava rolled her eyes, “I know you've heard whatever is going on in our family and probably gossiped about it. So cut the act, Mrs Alice,” she had her fake smile on.Mrs Penelope cleared her throat, “Why are you being so rude to customers? I'll tell your mum about this behaviour of yours when I see her.” She turned to pick up her back from the lounge chair, “I'll buy jewellery elsewhere, and I'll make sure to let your parents know that you caused it.” “Make sure you tell them what you said to me and whatever you've said behind their backs,” Ava stepped back, “Have a nice day, ma'am,” She turned away and gestured to one of the employees, “Escort them out.” She instructed. She could feel the two women's eyes boring holes into her back. Ava's fake smile turned into a burning rage as soon as she was out of their sight. Her hands were clenched into a fist as she walked back into her off

The sound of glass shattering filled the dimly lit roomAva gripped a sledgehammer tighter in her trembling hands, her breathing heavy as shreds shattered around her feet,She was suited in a protective track suit, googled and helmet as she poured out her rage in the angry room Every strike against the porcelain vases, the plates, the mannequin heads, echoed like thunder in her ears,Her chest heaved. Sweat trickled down her temples. She was tired both internally and physically, But she didn’t stop,She swung again and again until her arms felt numb until the rage in her veins dulled to exhaustion.“Damn you, Penelope…” Ava muttered under her breath as another crash filled the air. “You wretched woman. Go to hell and rot in there!” She yelled out top of her lungs Her mind replayed every word, every smug smirk, every piercing look. She thought of Penelope’s taunts, Alice’s judging eyes, the whispers of employees outside her office doors. And then, Ryan’s words, ‘You’re punishing

Shawn groaned dramatically. “At this point, I wish I was ambidextrous,” he gestured toward the pile of contracts and reports. “This mountain of papers look like they are not reducing at all,” he complained,“Well, you have an extra pair of hands here, “She said brightly, already pulling a few sheets closer“No, you don't need to, just relax and enjoy your snacks,” he smiled back at her.“I want to help,” She cut him off gently, “Am i supposed to just sit here with a big belly and a pretty face while you drown yourself in paperwork.” Shawn’s lips curved. “Well, it would be the best thing to look at your pretty face and big belly while I work.” He winked at her. Eva ignored the comment and picked up a pen. “Tell me what to do.”Shawn gave Eva some documents without much work and technicality. She got into immediately,Minutes went by, Eva scribbled, notes, highlighting numbers; She had to write Shawn's full name on some documents and stamp them, her brow furrowed with concentration.
