Chapter 62I Don't Know You.Lilian.The path was lonely and windy, but I knew my destination was not so far anymore. Thick trees lined the narrow road, and the path was deserted. It felt weird that there was a group of people that lived this far away from the central pack, and what was worse was that it was filled with the old men and women. My legs were slowly growing heavy as I trudged the path, my mind still a mess of the earlier incident. I shook my head, pitying myself. Daemon was hoping to do the impossible, and I couldn't help him because… I just couldn't.I sighed as I reached my destination. Rows of huts were lined as I turned towards the curve of the road. Each hut has smoke rising from it. When was the last time I came here? I was sure I was barely five years old, but I remembered that there was a place like this. I wasn't let out of the house, and the few times I went out with my parents, I made sure to cherish those memories. An old woman sat in front of the first hut, s

Chapter 64Not Possible.Lilian.“What about my father?” My voice was low when I asked, and their expressions changed instantly.“Look…" Clara said, “Our mother has already said she doesn't know how you are. Please — stop butting into our family. You are causing a lot of inconvenience here.”The rest of them were intrigued with me. My eyes glazed over her and fell on my mother who did not meet my eyes. Her head was hung low, and her shiny black hair was tied into a tight bun. There was something weird about her expression, like she knew who I was but was denying me for some unknown reason.“Then…" I cut my eyes away from her and looked at everyone. “What about grandmother? Mom brought me here when I was five years old.”They were about to make an excuse when a heavy thud was heard from inside, and Eli looked like he just died and resurrected instantly.“She has woken up!” He cursed under his breath and stamped his foot, not hiding his glare from me.I waited, heart pounding slightly,

Chapter 66First And Second Option. It was late into the night when the meeting was held. Outside was cold with the rain pattering on the roof, but inside a stark contrast to that. The room was big enough to contain all the Alphas, Daemon, Oliver and Wilder.Daemon sat at the head of the table, asserting his dominance over everyone. Yes, they were all Alphas, but no one on that table was anything close to being as strong as he was.“Can we begin?” His voice was deep and dark as he shifted slightly in his seat, sitting forward with a straight back, and an aura of a king flowed round him.The room was lit with little lamps which highlighted their faces and their shadows were cast on to the stone wall. The room smelled like burning wood–the burning fireplace that kept the room warm. In the middle of the room sat a uniquely carved table where all men, and one woman, sat around.“What is your purpose for this meeting?” One of the Alphas asked coldly, openly showing his aggression towards t

Chapter 68Can We Be Friends?“What do you think you're doing?”Lilian sat casually on the black sofa of the living room when Daemon burst into the room angrily with Oliver and Wilder following behind.“Helping you.” Lilian replied without looking his way, a small book sat on her lap as her eyes ran through the page she was reading.“How is what you're doing being helpful?” Oliver burst in, her face twisted in anger and her hands shaking. “You offered them so much…"“Well…" Lilian cut her off sharply, closing the book with a soft thud before giving Oliver a cold look. “Isn't it better that they think we are divided?”Wilder gave the woman on the sofa a calculating look. Something had changed in her, and he didn't know when the change started. She was calmer this time, and there was also an edge to her. Lilian had an aloof expression on her face as she spoke to Oliver.“Why should they think we are divided? They wouldn't trust us, or want to join forces with us.”“I'm not speaking of t

Chapter 70.A Party. The pack hall was dimly lit when she entered, the once rowdy hall quietened as soon as she took her first steps. It was as if they could sense her as all heads turned towards her direction.Lilian let out a shaky breath as she made her way into the pack hall, making sure her gaze on people was steady, showing no form of fear or coldness. It was difficult to keep up with the neutral position of her face as some people either stared daggers at her or cowered when her eyes landed on them. This wasn't going to be easy, she thought to herself. She was finally able to make her way to the podium, and she suddenly remembered the last time she stood on the wooden platform. Her fate was being decided by the elders of the pack, and it was then she learned about the death of her parents– her aunt's family, rather– who had died in the hands of Alpha Blackthorn.“Hello, everyone.” Lilian cleared her throat and spoke, softly and calmly, yet clear enough for everyone to hear. All
