It was on Easter Sunday. The day that I broke up with Nuel for the second time. It was a Sunday morning. The Holy week had been tedious, starting from the palm Sunday up until the Easter Saturday vigil. The vigil had been the most exhausting of them all, but it was the best so far. The choristers had prepared in a very special way, and their angelic voices opened the doors to heaven, and the climax came when they sang the paschal hallelujah after the communion. I was busy throughout the whole time, walking up and down to make sure that everything was in order, and at the end of it all, I was tired, so tired that I could barely walk, but I was happy. The solemn observation of the rich liturgy made me feel at peace with my soul. After the vigil, I spent the night at the Father's refectory. It was no longer a new thing. I had become a frequent at the father's refectory to the extent that mom was no longer worried anytime I didn't come home. Each time I wasn't home and it was pas

Franklin had once promised to fuck me. I never took that threat seriously, but he kept to his word. At least I allowed him to keep to his word because if I didn't consent to it, he wouldn't even have smelled my underwear. The pain of the breakup with Nuel was still fresh. Raw fresh. And upon the fact that I was devastated about it even though it was already up to six weeks, I still carried myself about like walking corpse. A zombie. It was our last year in highschool, and we were rigorously preparing for the S.A.Ts. I knew it was my chance. My chance to live a life different from the one I led in Pennsylvania. My chance to be the person that I wanted to be, to wear the flamboyant, colorful clothes that I wanted to wear. I knew that it was my chance the free the colorful bird that was long caged in me, and to let that bird spread it's wings. And so I took studying to another level. I burnt my midnight candle, hoping to get a score that could secure me a place in Colombia Law

“ Call me Charles”, that was the first thing he said to me. After the Saturday that he moved into our father's refectory to resume his duties, he celebrated mass the next day, with Nuel concelebrating with him. Nuel introduced him to the parish, and just when the mass was dismissed, everyone flocked around him like flies; including, and especially, Mrs Athena and her crew. He was more outgoing than Nuel, and just in a twinkle of an eye, he had swept everyone out of their feet, cracking jokes and laughing so hard with people. While packing in the sacred vestments and vessels that were used for mass, I noticed that he had forgotten his glass case and Bible, and so after putting the sacristy in order, I took the items to the father's refectory to give them to him. Patrick was busy prepping the meal, so he told me to just go ahead and give it to him in his room. His room was on the opposite end of the same hallway where Nuel's room was, and I felt a pang in my heart as I moved up th

Collins’ POVFinale I told the cops everything. Everything as I knew it. How Nuel and I had been sexually engaged, how we broke up, how I got together with Charles, Nuel's threat, everything. Investigations were carried out and Nuel's fingerprints were found both on the site of the murder, and on Charles face. That cemented the whole thing. The Court trial was scheduled, and it was only a matter of time before it was decided; either he gets sentenced to death or he gets a lifetime in prison. The diocese shut down the parish for the mean time as news of how Nuel killed Charles spread. Everyone was shocked and still couldn't believe it. The question that was on everyone's lips was “ why on earth would father Emmanuel kill father Charles?” And they never really got an answer to that, not until much later. The police had refused to give out any piece of information regarding the case. I knew very well that once they did, I would need to leave home, probably forever. I wouldn't

" My boy, you really have to pull yourself together. The fact that your father left us doesn't mean that the world has come to an end", our housekeeper, Ma Erica said as she walked into my room and saw me crying myself to death. A lot had happened in just a few days; I had lost my father, spent a good amount of time in jail, and also sustained injuries that almost left my face scarred, my signature fine face. " Look", she sat near my feet and I sat up to give her the impression that I was paying attention, " your late father; bless his gentle soul, would never have wanted you to be in this current state, feeding yourself tears for drink and isolation for bread. He would never have wanted you to stop living your life". My eyes which were puffy and dried up of tears were ignited, and tears started flowing effortlessly. I looked at her as I cried and she immediately understood the question on my mind, it was evident on my face - what life are we talking about? The one that ended with
