A hush of silence hung over us as we waited for fate to happen. We had spent just twenty four hours in police custody and I wondered what fate had in store for us. Eva had summoned up courage to move on with her life after the divorce and I had kept to my silence pondering how I was going to cope after divorce without the missing trust funds. While I was lost in thought, a shrill voice called my name from outside and it was the baritone voice of the police officer manning the cell. I knew someone had come for Eva but certainly not for me. Perhaps he had something to tell me and not for anything else.Eva had rich folks that could come for her. Although the family had abandoned her, she had the chances of being helped by her rich folks. I knew it was going to happen and if her rich folks should come for her, certainly she would also take me along.“Melissa!!” the officer called and emphatically and stared at me, “I guess you are Melissa right, you have a visitor so you may make yoursel

Salsa had the best of smiles while walking into my chamber; she was carrying a tray of chocolate cake and a bottle of wine. A lot had happened to me of recent and recalling that today was Salsa’s birthday was the last thing on my mind.“What are you celebrating, Salsa” I asked , seeing now that she had bought for herself a designers stiletto which had the value of the ones owned by the country side celebrities..“Today is my birthday!” she chanted at the top of her voice and then led me to her chamber where a few of her junior chefs were rightly seated to celebrate her.The struggled, troubles and mishap which had happened to me needed celebrations like this to cool off. I actually need this party to quell the heating of my heart.Although every lady in her chamber was in their best attire and stiletto, I didn’t bother to ponder over what I would wear because I had lost everything to the explosion. The only dress I had on when the explosion happened had been what I had been wearing an

At the time Salsa made mention of that I couldn’t believe my ears, “What did you just say?” I asked her anxiously, “Are you drunk or something?” I asked her yet again, “Do you realize what you just said? Talk to me Salsa!” I yelled at the top of my voice as she hesitated to speak yet further.Salsa bit her lower lip and shook her head with conviction, “Yes, Melissa I know I have drank and had plenty to drink, but I am not drunk, but I know what I am saying and what you just heard now should be kept secret. I am confessing this to you because my heart cannot keep the guilt anymore.”I pounced to my feet, “What the hell do you mean by that,” I held my head in doubt and fear, “Do you actually mean you have been poisoning me all this while just to get me induced with sleep…” I yelled and couldn’t fathom what else to say.But Salsa explained better, “Calm down, Melissa . You don’t have to yell at me. I am just making a confession,” Gently Salsa went down on her knees to plead with me, “Ple

It was early hours the next day when an ear-pitching horn from a car woke me up and I believed it also woke up every sleeping eye in the villa. When I was yet to fathom who would be causing this nuisance by this early hour of the day, I overheard my name from outside.“Melissa! Melissa!” my name resounded loudly and it was the baritone voice of a male.I flinched from the floor where I lay and felt the quaking of my bones and joints. I had nothing in my chamber anymore after the strange explosion. All I had was life and the dress I had been putting on for days now.I hadn’t found it easy sleeping on the cold floor in winter, so by now my bones would be cracked by cold. I only managed to advance to the window, only to be shocked by the sight of Rod Benson standing next to a van, filled up with assorted gowns, blouses, shoes, crocs and hand bags.“Oh my God! Oh sweet goose!” I exclaimed through gagged mouth and gaped at Rod who was smiling cheek to cheek like a kid who had just seen his

Salsa had been scrambling into the bush. Gasping hugely under her breath was an understatement. She sweated profusely too and couldn’t wait to arrive at her destination. She knew she had committed a lot iniquity and she wondered if I would ever forgive her for all she had done against me.But about now Salsa was going to endeavor to keep a secret from me and no matter how the guilt may trouble her in the mind she would ensure to keep it a secret.Once Salsa got into the lonely jungle, she stared around for any onlooker, before she fell upon her knees. For the past five nights she had been visiting this lonely jungle to monitor something very important to herAnd what could that thing be?After breathing uneasily, she trudged to a corner where she hid a shovel and took it. Still looking out for any onlooker, she applied caution and stared around carefully for anyone that may be lurking around to peep at her.Satisfied that no one was looking at her, she sucked a huge grin and began to
