“Hold it down, Eve. It’s not like anyone can hear your screams here anyway.” His voice slithers through the air, calm and venomous. Before I can move, he grabs my shoulders and forces me forward. My face crashes into the mattress; the sound of the impact rings in my ears. I try to scream, but the sound dies against the fabric, muffled, desperate. He traps my legs together with a swift, practiced movement and something tightens around my ankles. Aghh! The sound that escapes me is raw, strangled. The ropes bite into my skin as I twist, but they only dig deeper. My limbs refuse to obey; my body trembles under the weight of the heat burning through me. By the time he steps back, I’m as helpless as a fish caught in a net …..limbs locked, body drenched in sweat, lungs screaming for air. “Why… why, Zain… I trusted you.
